  1. Steve, I am so sorry that I credited Seth with writing these outstanding minor league reports. These reports are usually the first thing I read every morning (just after the local obituaries...just to be sure I'm alive). A lot of late night work goes into these reports. Sincerely, Nick Nelson
  2. Matthew, I appreciate your very informative articles. I do have a question about your statement that Prielipp's slider is the best individual pitch in the Twins rotation. I would have chosen Ryan's fastball. What stats did you use on which to base your statement? As is my custom, I used no stats in my claim about Ryan's fastball. I'm not near as stat savvy as you, and many of the other TD writers and contributors. Keep up the outstanding writing.
  3. I think 3B requires some serious fielding ability. Pop fouls behind 3B. Slow rolling grounders. The occasional bunt. Notice how often the 3Bmen shift over toward 2B. Plus a rifle arm would be nice. 3B now almost requires a SS's ability.
  4. It's not like you have to read everything written at TD. My definition of clutter does not include internet articles which I chose not to read. However this particular article by Chief pointed out an article which I had not read about Mick Abel. I missed it because I had been busy at an out of town writers conference and visiting several grandchildren. So, Thanks Chief for this article.
  5. Bean: Mark Twain famously wrote: "There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics". However I do now understand the basis for your statement about Wallner being the 7th best hitter among outfielders during this time period. Thank you for providing this information. Maybe instead of stating Wallner is the 7th best hitting outfielder, it would be more accurate to state that Wallner has the 7th best wRC+ of all outfielders during this time period. That, by itself is an amazing statistic. What does it really mean about how valuable Matt Wallner is to the Twins? Would you propose that Wallner should be paid commensurate with the other top ranked outfielders in this ranking? Would you submit that Wallner should have been an All Star those seasons? Frankly this stat does not bear out what my eyes and head and experience have told me about Wallner during this time period. Thus I am going to trust my gut about Wallner and put no faith in this amazing statistic. We will just have to agree to disagree on this issue, Thank you for this interesting statistic.
  6. What in he world led you to state that Wallner was the 7th best hitting outfielder in the entire game from 2023-2025. I'm not doubting your veracity, I just am interested on what statistics you used to form that unique opinion?
  7. Depends on which metric one choses to think tells the true picture. I don't know enough about these fielding metrics to know which is more indicative of Wallner's fielding value. However my eye test shows Wallner is a slow runner, who is even slower to get started running.
  8. Beans, What is your comment about Wallner having the lowest Defensive Runs Saved rating in the entire major leagues so far this year?
  9. Wallner also has the worst Defensive Runs Saved metric in the majors currently. Why is he still playing every day and why is he not in AAA or AA?
  10. Wallner is tied for second in the majors for most strikeouts by a batter at 34. The leader has 36.
  11. I told you so. His fielding at SS is outstanding. Who did the Twins get for him? Manuel Margot - Record holder for most at bats without a hit as a pinch hitter - who could not field, plus Rayne Dacon. Ouch.
  12. Man I hope Houston hits well enough to become the Twins every day SS really quickly. His fielding is a joy to watch. Hopefully he will advance to AA this year.
  13. "Mocking" (if that term fits) someone in this way discourages others from speaking out about their mental health issues as Duran had done. It was courageous of Duran to speak out in the Netflix series and it was cowardly of who ever yelled "Kill yourself" to Duran.
  14. Good for you for standing up and taking appropriate action. More of us need to do responsible things to stop filthy language in public. This season I went to a press box at a college baseball game to request they stop playing some pregame music which was using the actual words, which I will initial as "M. F.". The young man playing the music immediately complied.
  15. I understand why you are not counting the statics from the franchise founding Washington Senators for this article. However The Senators/Twins franchise should be recognized more as one franchise in articles here at TD. It is our heritage. I know that for most Twins fans, life began when the Senators moved to Minneapolis...but I am not one of those fans. My fandom involving this franchise began 1953 in Washington DC, when my brother and I rode a trolley to Griffith Stadium with our grandfather to see the Senators lose to the Detroit Tigers. I quickly became interested in the Senators' fascinating history and players like the Big Train (most shutouts in a major league career),the Walking Man ( behind only Barry Bonds, Ted Williams and Mark McGuire for the most walks in a season with 151), Little Potato (he had a devastating curve, was a seven time All Star and is in the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame, as well as the Twins HOF), Heinie, with a .336 batting average during his time with this franchise and a Hall of Famer, Joseph Ignastius, a Hall of Famer, who held many American League records at first base at the time of his retirement, Hall of Famer Sam, who averaged 202 hits per season from his age 30 to age 40, and Hall of Famer Goose, who topped 100 RBI's in 11 seasons and batted .316 for his career, Hall of Famer Bucky, Manager Cookie, Clark, Papa Joe, who was one of the first to recruit Latino players for the major leagues, and don't forget Cecil, who led the league in 1941 with 215 hits, but had his career severely impacted by frostbite he suffered in WWII. There were many other notable players and contributors for this proud franchise. We have a long history It deserves to be remembered.
