  1. $500 million has to be for more than just the branding rights, don't you think Ted? . I wonder specifically what is being acquired for $500 million dollars. The article states Topps is selling its digital and physical assests, so maybe machinery and possibly even plants and warehouses are being sold. By the way, does anyone want to buy a 1954 Henry Aaron rookie card for 1/5000 of the price being paid to Topps by Fanatics? Ted, thanks for this timely article. The Topps brand is very sentimental to us old baseball card collectors.
  2. I was in Elizabethton several years ago when Severino was there. One of the "officials" of the team introduced me to Larnach. Nice guy, especially when I teased him about knocking my Tarheels out of the college World Series.. Later I asked this official who were the other players currently on the Elizabethton team that have impressed him. He said: "See that light pole in left field? Severino had hit a ball over that light pole. Watch him" I have been hoping he would keep progressing toward the Twins. Severino is my minor league hitter/fielder pick to click this year.
  3. Seth, Can you explain this comment about Rortvedt please. Does this ranking not consider fielding skills? Thank you for your excellent summaries.
  4. You are correct. It did lift up like you said and therefore is not a drawbridge. Thanks. I'm a smarter man today than I was yesterday.
  5. Thank you. I spent several days in Duluth 20 + years ago during Octoberfest. I remember Grandma's Bar and watching the drawbridge from the patio. A fun time.
  6. How do I edit my comments after I post them? I meant 99 %.
  7. Nice , thoughtful article Andrew. I enjoyed reading it plus 94% of the comments. Keep writing.
  8. Good article. I feel OK about the pen. In fact I am somewhat optimistic that the Twins pen will be in the top 5 in MBL........the American League...........the AL Central.
  9. I agree that signing Story would help tremendously, but we still need more pitching in order to win now.
  10. Merry Christmas, my TD friends.
  11. After reading this article and the ZiPS projections, I am really depressed. At least beginning today, the days are getting longer.
  12. The Twins, a last place team, are not good enough to be struggling to find a place for Miranda to play in 2022. The Twins should put Miranda at 3B or LF and find another place for Donaldson or whoever was supposed to start in LF, to play.
  13. What then do we believe in trying to decide whether this "plan" of building from within is working?
  14. The national rankings of minor league players are not as kind to the Twins' prospects, as we here at TD are. For example, the only Twins prospect pitcher ranked in the MLB.com top 100 prospects is Balazovic who is way down at 81. If these rankings are to be believed, and if the twins are building a pitching staff from this farm system, then the Twins are doomed to more mediocrity.
  15. Great article Nick. This question needs to be discussed and answered by Derek and Thad and they need to report to TD in writing by the end of 2021.
  16. I'd say it is a "partial rebuild" from what the Twins ended with last year. Ober and Ryan were part of last years rebuild, since they were not starters for the Twinkies at the beginning of 2021, but during the 2021 year, they became starters and were regular starters at the end of the season. Maeda and Pineda are gone and who knows who the 5th starter was when the season ended last year? I sure don't. So we can take Ober and Ryan as 2 starters from the end of last year and they shall be called, "Holdovers" and the other 3-5 starters for 2022 will be new, and therefore can be part of a rebuilt rotation, therefore they shall be called "Rebuildables".
