  1. Please read the following in your best Russian accent. This thread is joke, yes?
  2. Great read. I enjoyed that a lot. I think a lot of TwinsDaily readers will like it. Thanks for posting.
  3. I thought they announced no TV on any weekday games for the rest of the year awhile back?
  4. Why I'd say it's going to rain sometime in the next month or so.
  5. My degree is in Meteorology, and all I can say about paragraph 1 is that it's pretty much right, though I don't enjoy the "built in excuse" part. The excuse is that it is really difficult. Kind of like hitting a baseball or throwing 3 pitches with pin point accuracy. Or being married. Built in excuses for everyone!
  6. Yeah, I agree that he moves well for a 300 pounder. Why, for a 310 pound guy like him, he's darn near cat-like. In fact, I can't think of a single other 320 pound ball player who moves as good as Miguel Sano, who easily is 330 pounds.
  7. Given that teams don't usually trade for pitchers - even good prospects - with "shoulder injuries", this gives more weight to a thought i've had for a while about Meyer's "shoulder injury"...which i think had a lot to do with the Twins not playing him when they called him up, and giving him the quick hook in his one start. my guess is that Boras will tell Meyer that his shoulder doesn't hurt anymore. And if that is correct, that the injury was really understood by all parties to be an agent-directed "injury", then I think this deal is about as good as we could ask for. Nolasco may well step it up and pitch well for the rest of his contract in LA, but we're only paying this year and $4MM next year, and in return we get serviceable (and sometimes downright good) Santiago. I think Antony is making some necessary moves that also seem pretty good.
  8. He's probably just another Liam Hendriks.
  9. Probably. But boy, I'd enjoy it. Please think of what I'd like.
  10. Looking forward to another minor league start by JO Berrios tomorrow. Go Red Wings! Enjoy!
  11. Just to bang the Zach Granite drum again, he went 1 for 3 and is hitting .309. He also stole his 35th base in 43 attempts (81% success). Edit: math
  12. Yeesh. How does a reporter not follow that comment up with a question of how did he get in the bullpen after pitching well as a starter last year? In every man language, Terry Ryan's quote is equivalent to, "I thought that my lawn would be mowed by now." But it just keeps getting not mowed. I can't figure out why it isn't mowed.
  13. Seems like there are quite a few players who have a good thing going right now, but it seems like Zach Granite has been mentioned a lot lately. So I looked up his last 10 games on milb.com - not much in the way of power, but he is hitting .447 and his OBP is .500! SLG is just .474 (1 double, 16 singles over 38 ABs), 4BB/1K. In his last 30 games, he is .390/.449/.537, with hits in 27 of those 30 games, and multihit games in 17 of those 30. That's a good run.
  14. The right field hanging porch should be Das Überhang. And if his nickname doesn't eventually become Mr. Oktober, we've all done something wrong.
  15. Always a fun read, and always good to have a guy or two building up their potential in the minor leagues. Seth, one question regarding the Eddie Rosario text - and I swear I'm not trying to turn this thread into another Arcia thread - but you mention Vargas, Santana, and Arcia getting sent back to AAA after some initial success, and relate that Rosario suffered the same fate, but "didn't sulk." The word "sulk" has come up a few times when discussing Arcia's 2015 AAA performance. Do we have a quote from anybody that says he or (Vargas or Santana) actually were sulking at Rochester? It's such a unique word and has been used over and over again, but I don't ever recall seeing a quote that this was the case. I obviously could have missed something...did I? Is there a quote or quotes from people in Rochester that says these guys were sulking (or moping or pouting or whining or other synonym), and (implying or outright stating) that's why they sucked at AAA?
  16. I'm glad you're doing this. My fingers are exhausted from typing box scores regularly. 3 cheers for box scores!
  17. 2 for 4, R, SB
  18. I think they should trade Dozier if we get a sweet deal offered, but I don't know if they want to trade him. He has seemingly righted himself, is a general fan favorite (my mom and sisters love him, for example), and has a good contract for his production, assuming it continues like it has since they sat him for 2 days. Assuming they aren't trading him, they should be actively packaging Polanco right now. It won't be long before Polanco out of options and we will find ourselves in a situation where he will be traded for $45,000 or a PTBNL, because if we don't trade him, the situation will dictate that we would otherwise lose Danny Santana. Edit - Author note: I like Polanco as much as I liked Arcia. I don't want him traded.
  19. The longer this thread goes on, my thoughts have changed slightly. I don't think, as I did when I first posted, that May should be stretched out for 4-5 starts/3 weeks in Rochester. I think he should slot into the rotation with the Twins right now, knowing that for the next 4-5 starts, that's a bullpen game. I mean, they have 13 pitchers, right? They should be able to absorb that. 1st start - 40-45 pitches 2nd start - 50-55 pitches 3rd start - 60-65 pitches 4th start - 70-80 pitches 5th start - 85-100 pitches After that? Go, Trevor May. Go.
  20. Coming to NBC, this fall.
  21. I think it is pretty clear by referendum that May should be allowed to leave the Bullopean Union. #Mexit
  22. I would do the same. He seems to have recovery issues leading to injuries when pitching every day or two, and I don't think a career in the bullpen seems sustainable if that point is true. 3 weeks or so stretching him out? 4-5 starts? Then in the rotation for the rest of the season, regardless of performance, as long as he is physically able to perform.
  23. 1 for 4, 1K
  24. I don't think this is the right sequence. I think he was given a chance, started terribly (.184/.256/.263 - OPS .519 through 4/18) picked it up some (.276/.338/.379 - OPS .718 through 5/3), then got hurt, and then flailed in AAA all year. Also, "given a chance" means that he had 65 PAs before getting injured. And yes, I know Rosario forced the issue last year while Arcia never recovered his season. But I don't think that his character should be challenged based on the small set of debatable facts listed.
