  1. Checking in alongside Mrs. IT from cool and breezy Section 114.
  2. I was always partial to Bob Gorinski.
  3. Also, the Twins are 20 wins ahead of where they were through 133 games last year.
  4. Hmmm.... Dobnak went 53 pitches today. Logical to "send down" to Rochester in order to bring Brusdar up before Aug. 31, thus making the latter eligible for the playoffs? Do I have that right? ("Send down" is in quotes since I wouldn't bother to buy a ticket, since he can come back Sunday when rosters expand.) (If so, let's make the Brusdar debut on Sunday, since I'm seven rows behind the Twins dugout in Detroit that day.)
  5. Yes, I think Carole and I have been the Benetti Fan Club. Perhaps his best line of the night was when he said Stone has a Mark Buehrle (fast ball) heart rate: It tops out at 56. And you are exactly right on Stone. Benetti is excellent at bringing out the best in his partner.
  6. Glunn’s a nice guy, I’m sure, but how’s about you give him the rest of the year off.
  7. In noting that teams tried to trade for Luis, but failed, Benetti said, “It’s hard to get Arraez out of the Twins.”
  8. Now that you mention it, I used to do that all the time. With Nerf balls.
  9. Is it just me, or is the baseball in the picture above actually getting dented in? That seems to accurately represent Twins hitters this year!
  10. The same argument could be made against ERA being based on 9 IP, I suppose.
  11. And with that, the Royals are eliminated from the divisional race.
  12. So you’re saying the Tigers lineup is essentially this? 1. Nick Punto 2. Nick Punto 3. Nick Punto 4. Nick Punto 5. Nick Punto 6. Nick Punto 7. Nick Punto 8. Nick Punto 9. Nick Punto Does that mean they get to use ghost runners if they get someone on base?
  13. But Benetti has made all the difference. Stone was nowhere as good when he was with Hawk. Benetti is really good by himself, but I think he is especially good at bringing out the best in his partner.
  14. Since we scored 7 in that inning, does that mean we can’t call it a crooked number?
  15. Benetti: The Sox were up three-nothing in this game. Stone: Yeah, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
  16. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this inning would be so fun to listen to if Hawk Harrelson was still around.
  17. Please, please, Rocco, can I hit next?!?!?!?
  18. Hey, Cruz’s ruptured tendon, welcome to TD. Oh, wait...
  19. Just did a peruse of baseball-reference.com and saw that we are the only team in the AL with five guys who’ve made 15 starts for the team and have an ERA+ over 100. (The “for the team” is because Greinke gives the Astros five.)
  20. This pretty much sums up that inning for the White Sox... https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/08/minor-leaguer-baseball-player-matt-whatley-face-pole-ejected-umpires?fbclid=IwAR2wke9t3wC9un5QH-NNMBT351BUlRLXB-6rvVdWv9a2JN__C8iK5jF5S1I
  21. Who needs a Rally Squirrel when you have it in the first?
  22. Bacon vs. Ribs was a tough one until I got to No. 4 and realized that I put bacon on my baked potatoes and stir them into my mashed. Guess that means bacon.
  23. Sorry, gang, I’ve got pulled pork in the fridge. Okay if I put that on my nachos rather than thawing out a chicken?
