  1. Yeah, I have that happen sometimes too, where I accidentally set something on my keyboard and it strings out a whole bunch of the same character.
  2. As promised. Thanks for the correction.
  3. I believe the deal is that he would have to be added to the 25-man by Aug 31, unless he is replacing someone on the IL. Someone will correct me if I didn’t get it right.
  4. Cardinals -- Wainwright. Angels -- K-Rod. Don't know about whether they pre-announced the possibility, but it's a couple guys who come to mind. Not saying it will happen, but in some sense, the injury is a blessing in disguise in that he's only at 50 innings so far this year.
  5. I'll take Berrios over 2015 Edison Volquez.
  6. Re: the catchers... Maybe, maybe not. One thing (among several) I like about Rocco is that he seems to manage rest intervals well. Garver had both Sunday afternoon and Monday evening off, so he had a full 72 hours (less game time) rest from Saturday night to Tuesday night, heading into this Tuesday night/Wednesday afternoon duo. In addition, there will be a day off on Monday. With the extended break up front and the day off on Monday, I'll not be surprised if he still goes Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. That's five games in six days, but it's also five games in nine days.
  7. Rover? DH? Bounced off the umpire?
  8. I'm a big fan of the 8-6-7-5-3-0-9 variety.
  9. Yeah, but then they put themselves at a playoff disadvantage by giving up the off day following the regular season.
  10. I'm eight pages behind, so apologies if someone else has responded. With this being Texas' only trip to Cleveland this year, it's pretty much a given that they are going to make it up with a doubleheader on the same trip if it's feasible to do so. Teams throw fits when they have a one game series. Cleveland and Texas have three common off days, but all of them would create nasty travel schedules for one team or other (or both). And Cleveland doesn't want to give up an attendance date (note that it's a day/night DH). But yes, hopefully one of the games goes 15 innings or more. Both going 14 would also be acceptable.
  11. I prefer the Sox broadcast version, though I can’t find it online. It features Hawk Harrelson blathering on about something unrelated, followed by the blast and 52 seconds of blessed silence from him before heading to commercial with a dejected, “And we’ll be back.”
  12. “Under the spreading chestnut-tree, the mighty Miggy stands; The Miggy, a mighty man is he, With large and sinewy hands...”
  13. Yes, and surprise, surprise, he gave props to Cruz.
  14. Better literature, sure, but this is Twins Daily. You read the poetry earlier, right?
  15. FROSTY THE SANO MAN!!!!!! Thumpety, thump, thump, thumpety, thump, thump, look at Frosty go!!!!!!!
  16. Note also that we’ve reached the point where there are only 25 more games until rosters expand and Smeltzer can stay up, even if they keep both Perez and Pineda in the rotation.
  17. Assuming Pineda’s IL stint is short and just precautionary, no, Pineda doesn’t come out of the rotation. Ten of his last 14 starts were quality starts, and three of the remainder were three runs in 5 innings or more. He’s six outs from having 13 of 14 QS. He has a 3.48 ERA in that stretch and nearly a 5:1 k/bb rate. Perez would probably be the odd man out if they do want to keep Smeltzer and no one is hurt. If Smeltzer throws well in his next start, I actually predict an IL stint for Perez once Pineda is back.
  18. Additionally, it gives flexibility down the road. With the off day on the 12th and Pineda able to come off the IL by the 13th, they could do things like give Perez an IL stint that only skips one start or just skip him one time through the rotation, either of which could be beneficial for a pitcher who hasn’t been as effective as earlier in the season.
  19. Not to go all Grammar Cop on you, but I think the correct spelling has one more “O.”
  20. There was a cemetery just down the road from our house, and Dad liked to tell people, “They don’t bury people with beards there.” They use shovels.
  21. Yep, after three-putting No. 12 from 15 feet.
  22. Dodgers in 1977 -- Garvey, Cey, Baker, Smith.
  23. That's like saying, "I play golf in the 70s. Any colder than that and I stay home."
