  1. Other than that part, turning 50 wasn’t bad.
  2. Assuming that a three-run will be enough, I don’t mind that out by Sano. In the past, after crushing a foul like that, it seems he would have tried to do it again. This time he hit the ball hard the other way, just not quite in the gap.
  3. I think it’s actually only three innings. It just SEEMS like four.
  4. Yes! How’s about another four and we give Rogers the rest of the night off?!?!?!
  5. I tend to be pretty gracious, and once in a while, I think Gladden has an insight, but most of the time I don’t think his comments add anything. And the innings where he has play-by-play are painful. My son was a broadcasting major, so I’ve picked up some things from him. For example, say the score! Listen for how often there is a scoring play, and he doesn’t give the update. Particularly with baseball, where people may not be following closely, that’s just a basic. But I’m with you on Provus. And when Gladden is on vacation, the Provus-Atteberry team is really good. They actually complement each other.
  6. I listen to many more games on the radio than I get to see on TV. Isn’t the general opinion that Smalley isn’t very good? If that’s the case, PLEASE send him over to the radio and let him take Gladden’s spot. I’d take that trade any day.
  7. No need to worry about an outfielder dropping THAT fly ball!
  8. Doesn’t Arraez know that he’s supposed to stop at first? No extra base hits allowed.
  9. Lemon, raspberry cream, lemon, raspberry cream, berries. Doesn’t that make it five? Don’t sell yourself short. (Also, my wife and I will be traveling through Chicago tomorrow afternoon. Can you meet us at the Oasis on I-80 with any leftovers?)
  10. Welcome! And to think, Chief was only 147* when you born. *In Sumerian
  11. Unfortunately, our guys are hitting like Amateurfars.
  12. Reminds me of one of my pastor friends who went to visit an elderly parishioner. The parishioner had to go to the bathroom, and it took awhile. Not having had lunch, the pastor started to notice the bowl of raisins on the coffee table, and succumbing to temptation, picked out one to nibble on. The potty break dragged on and on, and eventually the pastor finished off the entire bowl. When the parishioner came back, my friend had to confess and apologized, “I’m so sorry, but I just ate the entire bowl of raisins.” “Oh, that’s no problem,” the parishioner said. “I already sucked off all the chocolate.”
  13. I thought something seemed odd when there was only one number for yesterday. I think I found the problem. It’s missing Adrianza. Or did his arm get DFAed?
  14. He had a shoulder strain midseason last year. When he came back, they moved him to the bullpen to protect his arm, where he was pretty effective. When he wasn't going to be stretched out at the start of this season, I think they basically said that, given how effective he was last year, he was going to be their bullpen solution and the odd man out in the rotation. But all along, the plan has been to go back to the rotation. Perhaps it will be a Trevor May situation, but he's had three seasons with 29+ starts. I always think of the Cardinals at being one of the best organizations at bringing someone back (or starting them out) through the bullpen and then getting them back into the rotation. Even within the last month, there was talk of trying to stretch him back out, but the early success of Daniel Ponce de Leon may have changed that.
  15. The Cardinals certainly haven't played themselves into Sell mode, but this is an intriguing option: Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Cardinals are "open" to moving right-handed reliever Carlos Martinez. Rosenthal also mentions that the Cardinals are willing to consider moving their young outfielders like like Lane Thomas and Tyler O'Neill, as well. Martinez would be an intriguing option for teams looking for relief help, and you can add in the fact that he could be moved into the rotation next year. A team would likely want to do that, as they'd be paying Martinez $11.5 million each of the next two years, with club options for $17 million and $18 million the two years after, respectively. It'd be a relatively big risk, but there's obvious reward potential. RELATED: Tyler O'Neill SOURCE: The Athletic Jul 16, 2019, 11:05 AM ET
  16. Let’s not forget the 1000-post Game Thread from the 17-inning Kepler Game as a June highlight. That was a first, right?
  17. They have been whining all game, but it’s certainly intensified. I’m glad I don’t have to listen to them all the time.
  18. Ho-hum, another run and two hits over 3.2 fairly high-leverage innings, with four strikeouts and no walks. Our bullpen is so bad. :-)
