  1. @h2oface, I should have added that Mrs. IT often accuses me of having adopted his philosophy of life, that "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing."
  2. That's awesome, and that's beautiful artwork. Bunch of great songs on that album, including "Baseball on the Block," with the awesome verse, "Third base is Eddie's old shirt Second is Schmidt's Chevrolet I had a sure double, I was just rounding first When Schmidt's mom drove second away." I got to know John pretty well in bringing him to town for about half a dozen shows over a few years and have probably seen him a couple dozen times, including his all-baseball show when we happened to be in the area on vacation. He got a laugh when I asked if he's ever considered putting a Jugs gun on his dulcimer hammer. Have you taken in any of his online shows that he started doing during Covid? He had a wonderful song about Hank Aaron after he died, though he hasn't put it on an album.
  3. I have a lot of days when I'm feeling 40, but starting to have a few more where I'm feeling "ish."
  4. I hope to grow old, but not up. From my favorite folkie:
  5. Are you thinking of "The Young and the Restless"?
  6. For my job, I do a lot of teaching related to personal finances, so I regularly reference the ages of 59.5, 62, 66-67, 70.5, 72 (now 73), etc. Those numbers start to feel a little different as you approach them!
  7. But Rocco reads TD, so he knows he'll get hammered for giving him a blow. But seriously, Correa is hitting .265 with a .795 OPS the last eight games, with only one 0-fer, so I'm guessing he's feeling like he's at least starting to get untracked.
  8. Should I also mention that I'm 57? Now get off my lawn.
  9. One seat for Eddie and one for his equipment?
  10. How are things over there in Central time, where Opening Pitch is at 8:38 p.m.? -INDIANA Twin
  11. You beat me to this. 😃 My point in the offseason, which I will stay with, is that while we may not have a guy that will be an "ace" year in and year out, we have a number of guys who can pitch like an "ace" for an extended period of time. And the great thing about that is that when two go down, there is depth to replace. And if Gray or Ryan's extended period of time dries up, it's not unreasonable to see Lopez go on a run. (I feel the same about the offense, but that's another post. Let the regression to the mean begin/continue.)
  12. Moran and Jax. Totally under control.
  13. Finishing six for the 26th time by a Twins starter in this, our 43rd game. Plus a number of others where the starter entered the sixth.
  14. In Eastern time, west coast games are brutal, even if your kids are grown and gone.
  15. You forgot the fourth option, which is "all of the above." None of the three is likely to be sustainable on its own.
  16. I read that a factor in Lewis starting the rehab with Wichita is that they were in Frisco, near his offseason home. If that was indeed the case and if that choice was made as a kindness to Lewis, I think that again speaks well of the front office's commitment to treating players with dignity, which seems to be a common thread I see in them.
  17. I’ll be having a leftover whitefish spread/dip appetizer from last night’s dinner date with the wonderful Mrs. IT, the awesome mother of our two young adult sons.
  18. Bringing in a position player? It’s pretty routine these days. Unfortunately.
  19. After the earlier Mary Tyler Moore discussion, Cubs TV guys are now discussing televised "Fling Golf" and stone-skipping contests.
  20. I'm guessing because he had warmed up. Rocco doesn't tend to warm guys up and not use them. Edit to add: I don't mind a quick nine pitches. Would have been a bummer if he needed 20 or so.
