  1. Yes, like anything else one thing can lead to another if repeated. Catastrophic is a buzz word in this scenario, not reality.
  2. This is not unique to the Twins, I don't care what anyone says.
  3. Catastrophic? Comeon... Catastrophic would be something like a brain aneurysm, stroke or TBI. But a concussion is mild compared to many brain injuries.
  4. He would get comments about his weight on any ball club. Staying in shape is part of the game in any sport.
  5. No way he gets 10/$350 million as a first contract.
  6. I just don't see the Twins offering Scenario #1 as a first contract. They are too cheap to do that.
  7. I thought I read somewhere that he was completely fed up with the Twins staff and was no longer listening to the coaches. Not sure if that's true or not, but he might want out and this is the way to do it.
  8. I'd go back to Berrios and Meija first. Heck I'm even willing to give Wheeler a couple of starts. Duffey is not a permanent solution as a starter unless he can develop a viable 3rd pitch and use it consistently. That said, he's a better option than Gibson worse case scenario.
  9. I've always like Vargas. He is also finally showing plate discipline which is exciting news.
  10. My mistake, should have said organization development time. Although does it really matter at this point? They are all part of the same machine.
  11. Past his prime? He's 29 years old. If he squeaks through a few of these upcoming starts giving up 4 runs or less over five innings he will stay in the rotation for the foreseeable future. If he continues to get pounded he might last one or two more starts before getting demoted IMO. Just to be clear Molitor and the FO don't want to demote this guy to the pen. They have too much development time invested in him.
  12. Maybe 10 but not 40.
  13. Sano is not going to sign an extension with the Twins PERIOD IMO! He's a playboy, spending much of his offseason in NY City the last two years if I remember correctly. Perhaps that changes eventually but right now there is NO-WAY he signs an extension in Minnesota. He could make 200+ million on his first contract if he signs outside Minnesota. He will be on the first plane ride outta here as soon as sniffs FA.
  14. Didn't Jeff Todd over on MLB Trade Rumors hit this today in his article "Draft Notes: Top 50, Greene, Schmidt". To the effect that "Greene and his family are taking a very active role in assessing organizations and their approaches to developing pitchers." I guess the Padres are the front runners and Cincinnati is at the bottom of the list. I think this is them saying he would prefer to pitch in his home state if possible. If the Twins select Greene but fail to sign him would they get the second and fifth picks in 2018 similar to what happened with the Astros failing to sign Aiken?
  15. He's actually pitched a decent game so far. Bert has it right he's learning to pitch instead of just throwing it. I think he's much more effective throwing fewer FB's and mixing it up more. Sano llooking pretty good at 3rd.
  16. Maybe but most of them upper 80's
  17. Hughes struggling to hit 90 with his FB. Not good.
  18. Quality at-bats and i'm happy to see them.
  19. No I don't expect the Pohlads to eat 38 million. I could see them demoting him to the pen and in that case you have to callup someone to fill his spot (Berrios or Meija). I just don't see the Twins demoting both Hughes and Gibson. I'm not talking about DFA because that's not gonna happen IMO.
  20. While I generally agree I would caution that unless Hughes picks it up we might have two difficult decisions ahead.
  21. Your words NOBODY ELSE...nothing new. Such a shame that legitimate discussion is reduced to snotty retorts when someone voices concerns about certain players (ie Mauer, Sano, Buxton, whomever).
  22. Intuition? I beg to differ. If he continues to pitch like this and is shopped around at the deadline i'm sure he will fetch a fair value. He has an option year still. I don't understand the pessimism about his value. Were not talking about Brian Dozier here.
  23. I think we should approach the Dodgers about a trade for De Leon, Alvarez and one other guy. OH that's right they don't need pitching and DeLeon was traded already. All kidding aside I'm 99% positive that their will be a much bigger market for starting pitching when the playoffs near and teams realize they need a top of the rotation starter (assuming Santana continues like this). We won't get forced into a corner by teams like the Dodgers because there's a narrow demand for second baseman.
  24. If continues pitching like this up to the trade deadline and some team comes knocking with a nice package of prospects i just don't see how you turn them down. Unless these guys surprise everyone and are legitimately in the playoff hunt. Then it gets tough. But i agree. Add talent while you still have a chance (he's going to be 35 next season).
  25. Take a deep breath...only two more seasons (including this one).
