  1. Interesting mention of Jeff Pickler. I wonder if the new FO hired him to keep a close watch on Molitor and implement new ideas that Paul has been resistant too?
  2. I would like to think that is a possibility but given he's only pitched up to AA it's not at all likely to happen.
  3. I think given how poorly this team pitched last season a 13 man pitching staff is a necessary evil.
  4. Not very reassuring. What's plan B? Santana Gibson Santiago May Meija / Berrios
  5. I don't agree on the part that neither of these pitchers is part of the club's future. The Twins VERY MUCH seem to have Gibson in their long term plans because they've given him every opportunity and then some to stick in this rotation since 2013. I'm not sure whats going to happen with Santiago (although i have my thoughts on the matter). His 11 games last season were mostly atrocious and he's not exactly a diamond in the rough find. He's still here because of lack of options IMO. That said, people need to see this for what it is. The Nolasco, Meyer, Santiago deal was a desperation move on Ryan's part to rid the Twins of a chronic under-performing clubhouse cancer. Unfortunately, it appears that they don't have a whole lot of faith in some of the young guys like Berrios, May and Mejia. I would be giving all three a legitimate chance at the rotation this season. I don't really give a dam about guaranteed money obligations to Hughes, Santiago and Gibson. After losing 100 games last season Falvey and Levine would be crazy rolling with those three if they are seriously under performing later this spring.
  6. If Santiago pitches the rest of spring training like yesterday he better not get a starter spot by default. That was atrocious.
  7. Sigh. Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you. or is it Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you. Either way bummer. Was looking forward to this kids progress this season.
  8. Why was there such a hard push to try and sign this guy? The Twins have 4 or 5 legit DH types and 3 guys besides Mauer that can legitimately play 1st. I don't get it.
  9. wow..fantastic
  10. I'm a little surprised that Thorpe is still being written into top prospects reports like this. Guy hasn't pitched in what 2 + years?
  11. Greene is whom i'm gunning for. I realize it's VERY early but if he fails to pan out as a starting pitcher he could always be groomed into a shortstop. Is this a weak starting draft?
  12. I remember those comments. A lot of people were throwing Morris under the bus for saying that.
  13. Is he? The rock is a professional body builder and doesn't have a gut.
  14. Did i ever say that my assumption is fact? NO I DIDN'T. So I'M SORRY i didn't say 'i think he looks out of shape." Oh and by the way you could have said what you just said without making the comment you made early. Sheesh..
  15. Come on nick. The guy is 6'-4" and weighed 280+ pounds. That's too much. Are you sure your title is mod or is it censor?
  16. He may have strength, agility and quickness but he's out of shape at that weight.
  17. Yep. He's overweight. No excuses....SORRY! I don't want to hear it. The kid is WAY to heavy right now, DH or not.
  18. LOL....this is HILARIOUS. I remember last off season some of us taking all kinds of flak and bs from other posters here because we DARED to say that there's no way sano is 260 pounds. WELL WELL WELL.
  19. Why? I don't think this is that big of a deal. Going through the 4 pitch lobs slows down the pace of the game unnecessarily. If they want to get real bold how bout changing things up even further and making a a foul ball on a 2 strike count a strikeout. That will really speed up the pace of the game. No more foul ball after foul ball after foul ball on two strike counts. That rule could be waived in the playoffs as a compromise.
  20. I agree it's a small sample size but you have to wonder.
  21. I want to ask the question. How is it that this kid who did so well in AAA with three plus pitches, struggle so mightily after being called up to the major league level. Were not talking 3 or 4 starts but 14! Can we really attribute that to all nerves or tipping of his pitches? Even Trevor May when he first debuted had several bad to mediocre starts but started to turn it around after his 6 or 7 start. Berrios showed no real improvement. Could it be that he's just not that good and was the cream of a very bad latte of Twins pitching prospects who would be average to mediocre at best in another franchise? I guess time will tell.
  22. He's already had TJ. What's next labrum tear? I'm tired of the excuses from the Gibson camp (not saying your saying that). The guy has been a full time starter with this team for 3 full seasons now. It's time to either step up or step aside. Glad he wasn't extended because he flat out stinks.
  23. I think Tyler Jay has better stuff than Duffey or Gonsalves, but we'll see. Developing that change is key to his long term success.
