    he's not being serious, and is playing the reporter like a fiddle. He will take the money. NO WAY he turns down a 3 or 4 year deal for what he's going to get via free agency 0.000000% CHANCE.

    They aren't playing poker this is MLB baseball. All of those chips in, bad hand, etc., analogies are irrelevant. THE number one IMMEDIATE objective of EVERY major league team (i don't care what anyone says) is to make the playoffs every season. This game is about percentages and probabilities. If you don't make the playoffs you have 0% chance of a title, that's a big fat Z E R O. It's as simple as that. Long term planning, prospect development, trades that hurt in the short term but benefit in the long term, budget constraints, etc., obviously factor in but let's not kid ourselves and pretend that franchises don't want to make the playoffs every season to avoid "pushing all their chips in on a bad hand." To think otherwise is sheer lunacy.

    SWR is pretty much a worthless addition to that deal combination. His minor league stats are atrocious. I don't understand the fascination with him.

    I agree, i support local whenever i can. The micro brewing scene is booming where i live. Gotta be careful though with some of the kraft brews though. The place i went to last weekend had several offerings that were 8-12% alcohol content....whewwww. Couple of those on a near empty stomach and you are happy as a clam at high tide.

    CLOBBERED? I disagree on that statement. He's been fairly consistent all season, I don't se him as a flash in the pan. Guy looks legit to me.

    it's very possible the Twins would have drafted Giolito if he hadn't sprained his UCL certainly a top five pick. Aside from Correa and Buxton, Mike Zunino, Gausman, Zimmer, Almora, have all been mediocre at best and they were the top 1-6. Appel fell below to 8 and didn't sign. Interesting how the Twins ended up with the #1 and #2 picks at the end of the day.

    The Twins could have drafted Giolito in 2012 or Max Fried. Many of the top 2012 draft picks were busts.

    I was about to make the same remark. Would Gallo's performance so far be considered streaky as well? I really do hope they don't start penciling in Gallo, Buxton, and Taylor on the lineup card again with the roster crunch coming. They might as well forfeit those games if that's the plan. It's hard to generate scoring runs with 3 - sub .200 hitters in the lineup.

    Honestly if you have local craft breweries nearby why would you? I mean craft breweries tend to be more expensive but the difference in taste is like night and day, heaven and earth. Local Craft brews taste SOOOOOO MUCH better than mega brewery produced beers. It's not even a contest.

    Baltimore and Tampa are both pretty darn good teams, especially the Orioles. This season though I don't think anyone is stopping the Braves.

    Angels are gonna want a king's ransom for Ohtani even if he's less than a year from free agency. This has Yankees or Dodgers written all over it.

    I have to agree. Maeda and Gray will both be gone so you are back to Ryan, Ober, Lopez, Varland?, Paddack (maybe)? I've looked at SWR's minor league stats and am not impressed at all. The are HORRIBLE. Not sure why everyone keeps hyping this guy, it's numbers flat out are not good. This is why i've been saying that the Twins need to trade Gray while they still can and get back multiple prospects. Someone will trade for him given the year he's having regardless of the fact that he's a free agent at season's end. Trading Ober at this point would be a mistake because of the team control he's under.

    Or has a large inflated ego of himself which is not unusual for pro athletes. But after last night's performance (5 runs given up to Seattle), he's MOST definitely untradeable and the Twins would be crazy giving up a guy like that, it would be like giving up on the season after THAT performance, tongue in cheek of course.

    I think if the Twins could have signed Gray to an extension they would have by now and maybe they still will, but judging by comments Gray has made to the Star Tribune he fully intends to test free agency which probably means he's gone. At that point aside from getting a compensation pick the Twins come up empty handed considering that pick will take 4 years to make the majors. So I think they SHOULD listen to offers for Gray. Or go all in and try and win now which is extremely unlikely to happen and quite honestly their offense isn't capable of it (too many holes to fill).

    I don't understand the fascination with SWR. The guy has horrible minor league stats and has shown no sign yet of turning the corner and being major league starter material. Varland and Festa yes i agree.

    Yeah. I think you keep your options open. If the right combination of prospects is offered you at least consider it. I doubt Gray is back next season anyways and with the holes this team has on offense if they do make the playoffs it's likely a quick exit AGAIN. Gray is not a make or break player for the Twins. Don't get me wrong, he's been good for the team, but not having him does not equate "no shot." That conclusion expressed by a previous poster is kinda extreme in my opinion. If it was Johan Santana or some other ace pitcher then I would agree, but Gray is DEFINITELY not Johan or even a frontline starter and would certainly not be one on a bigger market team.

    i know another team can't give him a QO (lol), i never said they could. But as i said earlier his comments DO make it more difficult for the Twins to trade him.

    i don't have a problem with the Twins extending Gray as long as it's no more than 3 years. However, given his recent comments it's clear to me anyways that he's not coming back. He told the Star Tribune too that he intends to explore free agency, so it's a string of clues he's been feeding the media. That quote that DO-Hyoung Park cited kinda stings though as it makes him (Gray) A LOT harder to trade which I think is Gray's objective. What team is willing to give up a decent prospect for 1 year of Gray if he might not be coming back next season or sacrifice a top 40 compensatory pick for the same reason if the Twins?

    It is. But as someone said earlier "Anyone ripping the contract is posting in bad faith," so apparently it's off limits to bring that up even though it's totally relevant to the discussion given said player's output, but apparently it's also a bad faith 😉 observation. All kidding aside if Buxton isn't healthy put him on the DL and get it over with. He needs to be in the outfield unless the FO views this as a long term issue with his knees, and then in that case it REALLY is a bad contract now if he's nothing more than a permanent DH.

    Only 5 more seasons to go on that deal. And it kinda looks like it's turning into a real albatross too. I'd take Jason Heyward and Eddie Rosario in the outfield any day of the week instead of Kepler and Gallo.

    It's really a shame for as good as the rotation has been the offense has been THAT BAD. If the offense was halfway good this team would be 15 games over .500.

    I think he's trying to manipulate the situation to his advantage, at least partially. But it does appear as if he does lack a filter to a certain degree. I think some of it is his personal competitive nature shining through, but it's hard to say for sure. Nobody can really fault him in a way for doing this. It's just business.

    I agree. If he gets a QO in that range (a big if) the Twins might end up hanging on to him for one more year as other teams are likely to be somewhat reluctant to match that AND lose a top 40 draft pick. There's a lot of doubt on both sides, that's why i kinda think it's better to trade him sooner rather than later. We shall see.
