  1. Now continue the salary dump and get rid of Mauer so you can start the rebuilding process.
  2. Well said, this could have been from last season when they cleaned house besides keeping Gardy and his BFF Rick Anderson. I would also love some new owners that care about putting a good product on the field instead of making $100M+ every year.
  3. joe mauer!!!
  4. I thought was going to about changing him into a pitcher, not to become a full time righty.
  5. When have the Twins said they were rebuilding? What Houston did is what a rebuild is supposed to be. When you look at the the Twins roster there are way to many veterans here that should have been traded or DFA. Also, A big key to a rebuild would be some actual pieces to build around. It's pretty sad when your best player is not healthy and your only young player that is worth keeping is Brian Dozier.
  6. Come on really? Hit a 100mph fast ball or Sabathia's Curveball. If you know heat is coming or a nasty curve almost any professional hitter can get the timing down and connect. Don't get me wrong Mr. Mauer is a great athlete, but he is not the greatest or will never make the top 100 of all time. If Mr. Mauer chose football over baseball his career would have ended after 3-4 with his durability. We should all be thankful that the Pohlad's are such great people to give him 35-40% of the payroll a year because he is such a great hometown player.
  7. Exactly! Hitting has soon much to do with a defensive award. Too bad defense is not the only thing required to win a gold glove.
  8. The gold glove is basically a popularity contest. Also, if you win one you probably will continue winning them as long as you play well.
  9. wake me up when this matters who win the NL Batting title... zzzzzzzzz
  10. Is Gardy part of the September coaching staff should be the real discussion. Take Rick Anderson with you and start singing Happy Trails together.
  11. How many of the other 29 teams would take Mauer if he was placed on waivers and the Twins just said he's all yours and enjoy the contract! Maybe 3-5 teams would.
  12. I just finished reading on rotoworld.com that Gardy is suggesting that Mauer might have to be moved to first because of concussions and possible future concussions. So Twins fans (including me) hoping Justin Morneau could be resigned next season have to be bummed out now. If this is the case the Twins may as well pay 70-80% of his remaining contract and move him to a contender for a prospect. So now can we say Mauer's contract is horrible when he becomes a full time 1st basemen? $23M for a light hitting 1B with good average? Maybe Mauer could still be the emergency catcher next season. You would expect Chris Herrmann to share catching duties with Josmil Pinto and that Doumit will be traded either this winter or maybe sooner... [h=1][/h]
  13. [h=1]Would A Johan Santana Reunion Make Sense? [/h]Maybe he has learned to throw right handed...
  14. Good thing the Twins still have Rick Anderson here to help this pitching staff. Maybe Scott Diamond will be the next pitcher to find success after leaving MN. Please Terry Ryan let Gardy's and Rick Anderson's contract expire and don't renew them. One last thing you gotta love how the Pohlad's are making it all Ryan's responsibility for firing Gardy if he chooses to do so. I never knew a GM had so much power over ownership.
  15. Most likely Gibson was going to get shut down soon because of the innings limit. I would have to say they don't want him to gain any more service time. Just watch they will let him pitch 1 or 2 more times at Rochester and then he will be done for the year.
  16. I know for a fact that I have breaking news on who the Twins will be receiving for Carroll. The Twins will not be getting cash in the deal they will be acquiring another infielder in return for Carroll. The PTBNL is Miguel Tejada...
  17. He will be signing with the Baltimore Orioles. He is a very good friend of Henry Urrutia and they also signed another Cuban OF Dariel Alvarez back in July. Baltimore is finally becoming competitive again and they don't have a fear of signing International players like some organizations.
  18. I would highly doubt he would sign an 8 year deal. His agent would want some sort of opt out in the contract. Why would the Twins want to spend any money for an extension on a great prospect who "could" become a franchise type player. Actually why would Sano want to spend any more time in Minnesota than he has to since they don't care about winning, just making tons of money.
  19. I thought the plan was for Sano to possibly get a September call up in 2015...
  20. What is the record for a starting pitcher? Being a starter has to make this a better feat for Albers.
  21. Just because he was rated 14 in the Dodgers organization doesn't make him a great prospect. Where does LA rank as an organization for prospects? He could end up being rated 20-30 in the Twins organization. Still anything more than pocket lint for Butera is a steal.
  22. With or without the help of HGH?
  23. Calvin would be very proud how these Pohlad boys are keeping all the money and not trying to field an average team. Do we need to lose 90+ games for another 3 years before they decide to do something.
