  1. I was just looking at the Twins 40 man roster which currently has 39 players on it at the moment. Now comes the major issues that need to be addressed, Nolasco and Hughes are not on the roster as of today. If Terry Ryan continues to make signings alot of AAAA players need to be removed from the 40 man roster. So the Twins will need to shed at least 3-5 players if they add a player form the Rule 5 draft in a couple of weeks. Albers,Hendricks and Escobar are the easy choices. If another catcher is added a Doumit trade is not far behind. Diamond and Worley could be traded. Max Kepler should have never been added to the roster.
  2. How is Brett Anderson cheap 2 years remaining $20M? I would rather keep the prospects and add one of the following Kasmir, Colon or Arroyo.
  3. Correia will be off the books after 2014 so they "could" add someone to replace him. 1. Nolasco 2. Hughes 3. * Sign Scott Kasmir * 4. Correia 5. Gibson That could actually be a nice rotation. Flush all your AAAA scrubs away. In 2 years they can all play for the St Paul Saints.
  4. That is why you sign Scott Kasmir, problem solved.
  5. Bailey only has 1 yr left under current contract and will not sign an extension unless he is given at least $13-15M/yr. He is the perfect trade candidate if you can get a 48 hour window to sign an extension or the trade is off. The other pitchers are injury prone and not worth the prospects. Just sign Arroyo and Kasmir and then you finally have a respectable rotation once you outright all the garbage off the 40 man roster.
  6. The Twins have not made a statement by signing just 1 pitcher. When they sign at least 1 or 2 more quality arms to go along with Nolasco and Correia then they have have made a statement. Get rid of all the scrubs that tried and were an embarrassment on the mound last season.
  7. If your math is terrible. Vargas 4yr/$32M Nolasco 4yr/$49M. The Twins could add Scott Baker and we would still have some left over money...lol
  8. No draft pick if they sign Kazmir.
  9. Twins aggressive in off season? I hate to say you have to prove me wrong before I start drinking the kool aid. Just because they are talking to agents means absolutely nothing until they pull the trigger on a deal. The agents probably have not laughed so hard when they finish a meeting with the Twins people.
  10. That would be a complete waste of money when the Twins need SP more than a catcher. They could sign John Buck or Kurt Suzuki to a 1yr deal for a couple of million if they thought they needed another catcher. If they are signing another catcher shouldn't they be trying to give away Doumit for a PTBNL? I wouldn't mind a Pinto/Buck time share.
  11. Give Arroyo a 3yr deal $35M. There has been so much talk how he helped out the young Cincinnati Reds pitchers and was a great mentor for them. He would the perfect veteran for the Twins with Gibson and Meyer to help them out.
  12. Anyone can paint the picture that they are trying to acquire a couple of quality arms. I hate to say the Twins are most likely going to be like a guy trying to pick up one of the hottest women in the bar. They make an effort and get repeatedly shot down and take home whoever is willing to leave with them at the end of the night.
  13. The Twins have to go out and make a move before another starter signs and the price goes up for any of the named pitchers the Twins claim to be interested in. Just offer Arroyo 2 yr $25-27M and if he holds out for a 3rd yr make it 3 for $37M. Quit playing the side line and be aggressive for once if you claim you actually want to contend. Then throw a 2yr deal at Kazmir for $17M or so. Then you can wait andsee what is out there if you want to add another starter for the right price.
  14. So should the Twins sign 1 or both of these pitchers? With the Giants just agreeing to terms with Tim Hudson they should be out of the running for either pitchers and if the Twins claim to want to spend on pitching they should move fast. They should put offers on the table and see is willing to sign now. Arroyo should not need more than a 2 yr deal to sign. Nolasco is trying to convince teams he deserves a 5 yr deal, I would only go 3 with an option for a 4th yr. Garza will definitely get a 5 yr deal from someone. The Twins have been sitting on piles of cash for too long and would be best suited to get 2 of these pitchers signed ASAP.
  15. What does the velocity of a fastball have to do about whether a pitcher is any good or not. Greg Maddux was one of the greatest pitchers in the 90's and never threw over 89 mph on a good day and he will be a Hall of Famer on the first ballot. I am not trying to compare Arroyo with Maddux by no means but you don't need to throw hard to win you just have to be smart and know how work the strike zone.
  16. I would give Doumit away for basically nothing to get $3.5M off the books and sign a quality catcher to ease Pinto into taking over full time.
  17. Why not sign Arroyo and Scott Kazmir to 2 ye deals with club options for a 3rd yr. I don't think you will find any other starters better than them that might sign with the Twins. Fill out the rotation with some of the in house garbage until Kyle Gibson can prove he is ready for the majors and keep a seat warm for Alex Myers in early June or so. 1. Arroyo 2. Kazmir 3. Correia 4. ? 5. ?
  18. [h=2]Best Reason to Sign A.J.[/h]Maybe Gardy will resign and take Rick Anderson with him and Molitor takes over as manager.
  19. My words exactly! But this will never happen. 2 simple reasons why it won't happen. 1. Gardy is still the manager and I don't think he would want AJ back, even though he would be perfect for the team and bring a little attitude and swagger back to the Twins. 2. AJ is a quality player that would never waste his time and talents playing for a bottom feeding team that doesn't care about contending for a few more years.
  20. How would that be a wash? Gordon stole 49 bases in 92 games at AAA. zyou would figure at least 35 in the majors at the minimum if he played 145-150 games.
  21. He would steal 50 bases if he had the opportunity to play everyday. He just needs a change of scenery and he could be a valuable piece to the puzzle of rebuilding the Twins.
  22. It seems like Dee Gordon is running out of time and positions with the Dodgers. He would be an upgrade at SS and would bring some much needed speed back into the lineup.
  23. You may be onto something there. Just think if the Twins could have kept Ortiz he could be spraying the ball all around Target Field for a bunch of doubles and some long singles.
  24. That sounds great! Now all we need are players that can get on base and follow simple instruction and we could be a .500 team. Wait, I forgot about the pitching. Is there any chance they can find someone qualified (not Rick Anderson) who could turn around the pitching staff and than we can get out of the cellar and back to respectability.
  25. I believe he was born in Minnesota but moved to Oklahoma when he was 5.
