Don't know where you get your information, baseball reference states 2017 $8,214,000 & 2018 $9,214,000. So please check your facts before calling someone out. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/puigya01.shtml#contracts
Why would you want to bring in a player like Puig to this team? He has done nothing since his rookie year and it does not sound like he is a good clubhouse guy either. No way, would I give up anything for him and ruin this team. The worst part if some team actually trades for him is that he does not opt out and the team owes him like $17.5M for the next 2 years.
I have a question, does Mitch Garver need to be added to the 40 man roster next year? If he does, then it would seem at least a September call up would happen.
So if the Twins get a solid offer to trade Kurt Suzuki would Mitch Garver be ready to make the jump to the majors? From what I read so far he sounds like he has a decent bat and a strong throwing arm but there is no mention of whether he can frame pitches or if he calls a good game behind the plate.
Nice to hear that Byungho Park is starting to crush the ball in Rochester with 5 home runs in his last 7 games. Hopefully he is now healthy and is starting to find swing again. Now the bad part there is not really a place for him on the roster at the moment. I would not even think about trading him since he is signed for a few more years for cheap.
For anyone who thinks it would be a good idea to trade Santana, go take a look at the pitchers who will be free agents next year and your mind will change. 2 years $27M is pretty cheap compared to what will be market value this winter. Dump Nolasco for whatever you can get and eat whatever part of his remaining deal to get it done. Trade Tommy Milone as well and promote Jose Berrios and fill the last spot with who ever.
Sure, if only it was that easy. What do the Twins do with Joe Mauer? Ask him to play 3rd base and what happens when Trevor Plouffe when he comes off the DL?
I am pretty sure the days of ever seeing Miguel Sano in the outfield are done. The question sadly falls on to how much of a future does he have playing 3rd base? Clearly with Joe Mauer here through the 2018 season where is the best place for Sano to play. I would hate to see him turned into a DH at such a young age but if the club would become competitive you could not have a liability playing a key position in the infield. So what happens until the Twins get Mauer off the books with Sano?
I would like to ask who will be the Twins lone All-Star representative this year? I was asked by a friend and could not come up with a solid answer so I am here looking for a little help.
You can say the Twins way went away when Bruno became hitting coach. I only see Park & Sano the only ones that should be swinging for the fences. I would like to see some more speed and doubles to the gaps and spray the ball around. And bunting for one thing would be nice for the speedy guys struggling.
Come on think about it, Santana is getting activated on Saturday so why not call up a relief pitcher for a couple of days and maybe you dump a different pitcher when you activate Sanatna.
How many more blow saves do Twins fans need to go through before a change is made. Not sure when Perkins will be coming back but it is getting hard to see the starters put up decent starts just to see the bullpen blow another game. Maybe they can find someone in Rochester who could handle the role.
Actually isn't this the first time that he came out and blamed the concussions for his vision problems? If so, how do you explain keeping this a secret from the team? Not very classy on his part to not share with the trainers his problems. To what point if his vision does not improve could the team try to DL him indefinitely and try to see if the insurance will cover part of the contract. In other words retirement.
