  1. I will miss Torii Hunter but it is the best for the team to free up a spot for a young gun and now put that $10M+ into the bullpen for some nice arms.
  2. No thanks, why do we want to take on another catcher who will command a high salary. We all know how that turned out last time. I would rather trade for a rookie or wait and develop one of our own prospects.
  3. Could he be converted to play either catcher or shortstop?.........
  4. why take on a larger & longer contract? $25M left on Nolasco 2 years and the buyout. Shields $63M for 3 years including a $2M buyout. Just makes no sense to me to take on so much money. Also the Twins luck Shields has an optout after next year. I would rather give Nolasco away and pay $10M of the contract for something. Pittsburgh would take him and fix him.
  5. Please end the madness of a Shields trade.
  6. Why does the Plouffe/Sano situation make me think back into the past when the Twins had Kent Hrbek and Paul Sorrento and decided to deal one away. We all know how that turned out, Hrbek gets hurt and we stuggled to find another first baseman after that.
  7. Mauer would want some more years added to his contract to ok a trade. So if a team could get a 4 year extension at league minimum they would still say no deal. too much money for Joey.
  8. You gotta give Torii Hunter respect for taking the pressure off the Twins to resign him. There is no reason he should be playing full time anymore. He was a great influence for the young players and can still do what ever he wants.
  9. Just saw an article saying that Mark Buehrle is going to retire after he pitched tomorrow. He said he just wants to pitch 2 innings so he can reach 200 innings. He has logged at least 200 innings since 2001. I always had great respect for Buehrle as a White Sox and wish him a happy retirement. Kind of sad that he will be left off the Toronto post season roster.
  10. This strategy worked out good for the wins with Joe Mauer.
  11. Dozier is signed through 2018 4yr $20M.
  12. So much for thinking about Max Kepler in 2016 with this move. Not gonna have him up as a 5th outfielder.
  13. No don't trade him. If for some reason TR does trade him he will make the mistake of trying to fill a position with the prospect as in a catcher or SS prospect. If you trade get the best you can get overall. The Twins should do what the Cubs did in the draft in 2014 and selected Kyle Schwarber with the 4th overall pick. He was rated way later if even a 1st round pick but they had a need and overpaid at the time but I am sure they are happy now.
  14. NO. Another guy with Boas as his agent. He will get a 5-6 year deal and has only had 3 good years in his career. 32% career throwing out runners no thanks.
  15. It is too early to tell. Hope he can develop some patience at the plate and increase his OBP. I don't think you can use any minor league stats to get any idea how he will develop. Young pitchers most likely think they have the stuff to blow hitters away so you will have to wait and see.
  16. Haters got to hate. People just hate when they don't have the scoop first. You watch if he is named this thread will vanish and someone will make a thread like they broke the story.
  17. Not at all. Garza was a pain in the butt who thought the majors were just like the minors and thought a high 90's fastball is all you need. Also Garza didn't want to listen to our great and knowledgeable pitching coach.... who was that Gardy's BFF?
  18. Not to say Gardy will become the next Detroit manager, but when they say they are going to allow Asmus to finish the season it tells you he is gonna get the axe once the season is over. I don't fault Detroit for trading away Price & Cespedes at the deadline. They basically didn't have a good enough farm system to afford trying to win now. Never pull a San Diego and trade away all your chips and now be screwed for the next 4-5 years trying to rebuild.
  19. Exactly, who cares about the regular season. A good manger helps make his team become a winner in post season. It was almost embarrassing all those years winning a weak division and getting destroyed in the first round. Nothing worse than the deer in the headlights look that you got when it came to post season.
  20. didn't think you were allowed to put links here or I would have put it in from the start. sorry if I may have scooped all you big shots and put it up first.
  21. I just read that the Tigers pretty much have a done deal to make him their next manger.
  22. With about a month left we have about 27 or 28 games left so that is almost a fact for all of the starters. Good try though.
  23. I would not give him away for nothing. He supposedly has not been healthy the last couple of years and with our luck we dump him for a bag of chips and a flat soda he will rebound to his former form and be a good pitcher once again.
  24. Really? They are going to use the excuse about possibly not calling him up so they can protect another player. Give me a break they seem to be protecting like 4-5 catchers every year and they are all garbage. I would be thrilled if some of them would be claimed. We are no experts but when you look at the players they have protected in the past it just makes you shake your head to think they would get claimed.
  25. Only call him up this year if you plan on having him making the rotation out of spring training. Of course that is not that easy, will he be allowed to play winter ball and what if he has a poor spring training. 1.Santana 2. Hughes 3. Gibson 4.Nolasco/Milone depending on which you don't trade 5. Berrios 6. Duffy? Which I have to say I really want Trevor May in the 4th slot but I feel teams are going to copy KC with their bullpen success and leave him as a set up man. One problem is that you have to get through the first 6 or 7 innings with a lead.
