  1. They thought Hicks was ready, and didn't learn if he was or not until he was here. We will 100% disagree on this forever. You get data by doing things in real life, not in practice.
  2. I guess I am not sure they want him at SS long term. If they do, then yes, they are not acting in a good way, strategically.
  3. Agreed 100%. he really should be up now in place of one of the current guys. I really don't understand the development or 40 man or 25 man strategy of this rebuild.
  4. Schafer/Shafer/whatever.....he's got over 1000 PAs, and has terrible defense in CF. He's here this year to just to make sure they have a backup OF. IMO, he should almost never, ever play.
  5. I hope to never see Shafer after this year. He's terrible. But, for this year, given what has happened, it is what it is.
  6. Would be interesting if they actually used their farm system for RP, and didn't keep signing 35 year olds. Why not promote a guy or two from Rochester right now, and see what you have? It is looking like those experts that thought Burdi should be in AA to start may have been correct.
  7. AAA pitchers are much better than AA (as a whole group), and Hicks will be more challenged there. He should be in AAA right now......to continue the growth. As for Santana, I disagree, and I know no one agrees with me, but I think he's your CF until Buxton is up. And, that might not be half way through next year. I also think they think Polanco has a chance at SS. Me? I'd leave Santana in CF until Buxton is up. IF Santana has been successful up until then, I'd move him or Buxton to LF. It's not like Santana is a great fielding SS. I don't expect these numbers to hold up, but it is possible he could 280/335/440 or something like that. With some speed, a good arm, and some steals? That's a good enough line if he can play defense out there. Or, maybe he is Ben Zobrist for MN?
  8. Once again, Meyer's pitch count makes his day look worse than it probably would have been.....
  9. Torii Hunter is terrible right now. I don't get why people keep typing his name.
  10. I think they want Polanco to be the SS. Maybe Santana is Ben Zobrist?
  11. Sure, if Hicks and Buxton are up here, that would be great..... I think it could be Buxton-Santana-Hicks, frankly......with Arcia your 4th OF/DH. Or, make Hicks the 4th OF who gives all three a day off..... Not that I am convinced on Santana, but until he fails, he looks like a success.
  12. I've been saying this for the last 2 years. Especially if a team can't find good SPs......like the last few years. Won't ever happen, thought.
  13. Great writeup, thanks. Given that service time thing, it would be odd / bad for them to call him up before Sunday, wouldn't it?
  14. No reason for Deduno to be on the 40 man next year: Hughes, Gibson, Nolasco, Pelfrey, May, Meyer, Milone, Darnell, Johnson, Gilmartin, Berrios, Pino.... even if you just cut Pelfrey, that is 11 pitchers.....and I am sure there are other AAA/AA guys that could be on that list.
  15. Move KC to the pen....much easier solution, imo. KC to bullpen, Pino and Darnell down, the three M's in the starting rotation. That's what I would do. When Nolasco is healthy, either shut down Meyer, or move him to the pen.
  16. Who are these mythical better OF next year? Because they have zero in AA or AAA right now you could count on. Nyerere May have a point, but it just seems low.
  17. I too cannot believe how little Tampa got.
  18. I'd cut KC, or move him to the pen. It isn't my job to figure out where to send them......I have no idea. KC has no place on a rebuilding team, with May and Meyer sitting in AAA.
  19. An A for the Fuld trade, really amazing to me, frankly. Not a fan of the Suzuki signing, but if they won't play Pinto, it is a B I guess. Still having to watch KC instead of May and Meyer, F. Willingham still here? D I weight the Fuld trade the strongest, so I guess it is a B from me, though that seems like a hollow B, frankly. They added a league median or slight worse pitcher (outside Oak), and signed a catcher over 30 that was AWFUL the two years before this. I don't see much that really FIXES things, but the Milone trade is just mind bogglingly good....
  20. Well, we can look at the last four years, apply aging and recovery from yet another injury, and reach some educated conclusions.....
  21. Not a fan. I'm trying to be more positive, and like more posts, and it is limited. I understand the database reasons......but not a fan.
  22. If that is it, he gets an A for the trade he made, and a series of Cs or Ds for not moving KC, Willingham, and Suzuki. YMMV, of course.
