  1. The whole "don't let Granite sit around and do nothing thing"....when would you ever call him up, then? Until you trade Rosario....Granite is a 4th OF for this team, right (or maybe 3rd with Rosario 4th). But, I'd rather have him here and contributing, than waiting for that perfect moment and getting him more reps.
  2. I want more young players in the bullpen than mediocre, terrible, or even decent veterans. Seriously, just give the players in the minors a chance, there are plenty of options. If they are going to sign a RP, sign the best one you can afford, not a couple of mediocre ones.
  3. Very, very, very different attitude. And, I was really talking about the game threads...
  4. Law was complimentary of at least one play in the field for Gordon also, but I couldn't get a reply when I asked if he thought Gordon would stay at SS.
  5. There's not deciding....he's a SP. He could play SS, but that's not his path to stardom.
  6. Exactly how would they not waste next year and the year after if they don't get pitching? Where do you expect to get pitching, if not thru a trade?
  7. True, but injuries can happen to anyone. He's not some guy that overthrows, and he's not had surgery before..... I do agree he might need more work, but it won't be 5 years......heck, if Berrios had appeared last year like he should, that would have been 3 years....and if Gonsalves pitches next year in MN, that is 4 years.
  8. There is no chance it takes him 5 years to make the majors if he's the pitcher people think. No way.
  9. As for the OP.....the Vikings site is getting better, but the game threads are pretty much dominated by a couple of very emotional people.....
  10. Baseball is a chess match? It is a series of one on one matchups, and doesn't require anywhere near the long term (in game) strategy of chess (or even the NFL, where you disguise coverages, set up later plays with early plays, etc).
  11. This isn't the thread to rehash this conversation for the 1000000th time...
  12. Why can't he be a guy like Ben Zobrist, play nearly every day, and play many positions? Now, my first choice is trade Dozier, and put Polanco at 2B (or trade Polanco if he returns a legit SP type)....but I'd be ok with Zobrist type usage.
  13. Individual players don't sell tickets, not Brian Dozier. How many less people buy tickets if they trade him? 50? 100? 1000 (no way)?
  14. It's just an odd coincidence they never spent big before or after Smith....and that three of their best prospects were signed the one time they did. You are totally obsessed with not giving Smith credit, every time this comes up. He was the GM the one time they did what needed to be done to get more great talent, whether you like it or not.
  15. That's a terrible reason to keep him. How many people are buying tickets depending on what they do with Dozier?
  16. winning sells tickets. A player does not. That's very clear from years of data.
  17. I wouldn't count on the QO and draft to be tied after the next CBA.....
  18. Well, it's not like they couldn't move him back to 2B......it would, imo, be obvious the TWins did it for Polanco, not because of Dozier. I don't agree it cuts his trade value (I also wouldn't do it).
  19. Pinstripe Wizard: Is a guy like Hunter Greene more valuable because of his versatility, or would it behoove him to focus on one area? Which position to you prefer him at? Is your opinion the consensus across baseball? 2:33 Eric A Longenhagen: Mound. I think some like him more at SS than I do but I haven’t spoken with anyone who prefers him there rather than on the mound.
  20. Berrios, Mejia and Santiago were not on the roster last year....or the year before. Who should have pitched, if not the FAs? I'm not arguing to fix the team in FA, I'm arguing they literally had one SP penciled in to start the year that they drafted....one. It's not like there were a ton of internal options the last three years... Also, 1 year (or even 2 year) lottery tickets sometimes return value.....you can't ignore that path to rebuilding completely, imo.
  21. Sorry, which young pitchers other than May were "blocked" the last two years? I missed that....
  22. You couldn't be more wrong, imo. How do you know how other orgs rate Stewart? Really?
  23. Agreed on this choice! About as easy as the pitching award....
