  1. apparently ST traders don't agree!
  2. You aren't the first to do it, and won't be the last......I just don't buy it. There have been people every generation that made that whole group be questioned by their parents and older people......we've never had the internet before to say it over and over (and to see such obvious examples). I could have said it nicer myself. Have a great day!
  3. Must feel this pretty strongly to post it twice well, had they kept Plouffe and not signed a catcher, how would you feel about the start? Me? I rather like these two moves. Given that, I guess I feel COMPELLED to say, strong start. YMMV, of course.
  4. Well, you need 2 catchers for one thing. Also, a strong (if he is) defensive catcher helps your young pitchers out a lot. I don't see this as WIN NOW, but as....we need a catcher, we want a defensive catcher to help our young pitchers....here is one that isn't $100MM. I don't see this as indicating anything about Dozier or Santana at all. That's just a guess, and I don't do guesses much anymore about other people's motivations.
  5. dude, nothing else has happened this offseason, hardly, and there aren't any FAs out there. What, exactly, do people expect at this point? They cut Plouffe, and they signed the top player at a position of need......
  6. 1 WAR costs $8 MM a year.....that's what they paid. (and that WAR does not currently take into account any framing advantage he brings over Suzuki). But, I agree, there are reasons to be concerned about Castro. I'd rather they roll the die and try to be good, than to sit back and do nothing though.
  7. They weren't getting him, or any good, catcher for 1 year. This is the price of FAs.....It would also be great to get Kershaw for Dozier, but that's not realistic either (and yes, that was smart alecky....this site is too serious lately).
  8. I don't know how anyone can be disappointed in moving on from Plouffe, and signing an actual defensive catcher......two good moves on the field, imo.
  9. I'm happy for your lack of disappointment. Everyone should be appointed (is that the oppo?).
  10. Bull ****. On behalf of my sons, who are in that generation, you are wrong, very wrong, to disparage an entire generation. But go ahead generalize.
  11. Agreed, I will not judge them based on Ryan tinted glasses....
  12. I'm not.....but others are, and poo pooing their concerns seems like a brush off of people that others don't agree with, without even making an effort to understand their concerns. I don't know how to make that more clear...chitown got it.
  13. None of that has anything to do with what I posted.....so far, we are seeing more insiders than outsiders come into the org....that's what people are reacting to. Not saying it is good or bad, saying that anyone who can't understand the angst isn't actually trying at all to understand people that don't agree with them...the major issue in this world, frankly.
  14. In fairness....NOTHING other than two new hires has really changed, right? Still the same scouts, minor league managers and coaches and staff, still mostly the same major league staff.... You really can't understand anyone looking and thinking, "what has changed"? I don't care about this much, but I can certainly understand how people can look at this as the same old same old....
  15. And, the resistance to this should be pretty easy to understand....the number 1 complaint about the org, from many here, is that they don't bring in outside voices or even players (Jason Bartlett, seriously)...and this looks suspiciously like the past. Not saying it is or isn't, but not understanding peoples' fear about this seems like it is just ignoring the last 20 years....
  16. Lots of former players have joined front offices, and it has completely bombed.....just because you play doesn't mean you are a good coach/instructor/whatever their role is. That said, as long as there is now 1 message, from top to bottom, I'm willing to see how it works. That clearly was NOT the case last year or the year before, from what the pitching coach has said.
  17. They aren't getting a really good player back w/o giving up De Leon, or 4 others.....no way a team trades a player like Dozier w/o 1 great upside player (or lots of really good prospects).
  18. While I don't agree with bcs4....I love how he/she posts. passion and logic...
  19. No team is trading two good MLB starters for Dozier, or most anyone not named Trout or Bryant, or one of 2-5 others. If people won't trade Dozier for top SP prospects, they would never trade any veteran to get younger and more players. Which is fine.....just glad you aren't the GM.
  20. Huh, didn't know that about LF/RF.....up until I thought Sano was the long term 1B, I thought Kepler was...
  21. Wouldn't it make more sense for Palka to be at 1B, given their speed and arms?
  22. True, but then who is in RF? Really, I only want THAT 1B prospect because he's a great prospect. I think Sano is the 1B long term, if not some other stud.
