  1. You realize the Yankees traded off players, while playing .500 ball, to get all those excess minor league players, and have a system considered better than the Twins (before this year started), right? I asked in another thread, what price, for what upgrade? Like, 2 of their best prospects for Gray (who isn't nearly as good as Quintana)? Or, a mediocre player for a mediocre RP or two?
  2. clearly that proves he should pitch the 7th inning.....duh.
  3. You think he was lazy because they were up five? Is that the context? I'd argue he was lucky it wasn't a tied game, not that he knew it wasn't a big deal due to the score.
  4. cool. One thing, I struggle with "average age" since most really good prospects get promoted, and older guys that aren't good enough repeat levels. But I've never seen a good way to compare players to other players on similar tracks (college, actual prospectness, etc.)
  5. we hear about the clubhouse a lot from some posters...... How do we think players feel about the FO giving starts to a player that is doubting he should be in teh majors anymore?
  6. It's possible, but there was clearly an argument being made that there is no correlation.
  7. Weird. I mean, a team in contention just acquired him to be one of their starters, and he isn't sure he's good enough to be playing? Weird.
  8. that first paragraph is filled with so much wrongness, it is unreal. Seriously? a 44 yo and correlation? wow.
  9. I realized after I hit "post" that I typed that timeline up wrong....and that it was really the previous year I wanted him converted while the Twins were good, and they needed bullpen help. Kind of like this year, and Turley and possibly others being in a similar position as Rogers.
  10. Money. They use a cheaper company/process to build the minor league balls. and no, it makes no sense at all.
  11. Last year, several of us called for Rogers to be made a bullpen arm at the beginning of the year. Everyone on the planet knew that was his future, but it took time to do. No idea why. I suggest moving Turley to the bullpen, and calling him up. I suggest calling Buesnitz back up. I suggest using the assets they have in the most productive way, not leaving them in the minors and hoping they become something they are not ever going to be. Start there, and see what happens. But using Breslow does nothing for the present, and nothing for the future. It's, frankly, not explainable.
  12. someone expected Breslow to be a key contributor? That person should be fired right now.
  13. I thought FTM was aggressive compared to the league and the Twins, and it appears that is true. Would be nice if they were mildly so with AA pitchers that continue to dominate that level...
  14. Well, Berrios pitched on teh side with the MLB ball. I hope they are having Turley do that also.
  15. He's bad. He should not be pitching for a team that thinks it might be buyers. Breslow back on the roster, so there is no bench? Really? That's the plan from a FO that supposedly knows pitching? Everyone's fear of bringing up young players is maddening to me. They've drafted and developed 1 pitcher in like 10 years that is a starter (we hope). It's time to completely change their approach. I suggest promoting good players to a level that challenges them, or even the majors. and no, Granite should not be in the 2 hole right now. How can anyone say that with a straight face?
  16. "find some help" meaning what? How much? At what price? Sure, trade off prospects the FO doesn't believe in. NP. Start trading off legit pieces for the small chance you "do something special"? Um, that's different.
  17. Has any player publicly said "we need to rebuild", ever? Are players the best judges of how to run a team? I mean, I get it, and I sympathize......but I trust the FO a bit more than a player on this topic. Heck, I probably trust a decent number of fans more than a player on this particular topic. do people really think this team has a chance to "do something special"? To me, they'd need to add: 1 SP as good as Santana or better 2 RP as good as Rogers or whomever you want to call "really, really, really good" a DH a SS that can hit (whether that is Polanco or Escobar producing, or getting one) then, maybe, you can really believe. But, that's a tall order. And, it might not work still. How much are you willing to pay to do this, given that there are this many questions, and questions about Mejia and Berrios and Santana being good or not (and Dozier and Santana being gone in 1-2 years)? That's why Falvine make so much money.....hard questions.
  18. What's bad? bottom third? Below median? Last among LFers? Because he's around the bottom third, iirc, on most defensive measures this year. While they aren't perfect, as a relative measure, they are helpful to fans who don't watch every play of every game, so can't really compare players all that well. edit to add: I don't think he's as bad as he's been this year, true talent wise, btw. But I also don't think he's in the top third.
  19. Impossible! For years we were told the Twins were bad because you just can't get talent past the top few picks. Of course, now we are told we can't be mad if those top picks fail, because top picks fail a lot, so there's that....
