  1. It seems a bit like hopefulness to look at 3 weeks of stats and say he's figured things out. As I said, lets see how the next 2 months go before making any decisions on him/others. And I'm certainly NOT saying to give up on him. No place.
  2. If you sort the Fangraphs leaderboard for LF....by wRC+....Eddie is 14th, but closer to 19th than 13th. That is out of 21 qualified LFers..... I'm not sure what others are seeing, really, that makes us think his offense is good. I guess if you are median, and closer to bad than good, for your position, that, to me, is not good and not helping at all. And, is pretty much replacement level. Others disagree, but if you are closer to 19th than 13th, you are replacement level. If you go from qualified to those with at least 200 ABs, you increase the pool to 26 batters. He drops to 17th, and is closer to 23rd than 15th. At best, he's median on offense....but if you look at how close he is to going down in the rankings vs up.....he's not. Again, I say keep playing him, and that they have no better option right now. I just think he's a 4th OF, especially when you add in the mental mistakes and other factors.
  3. Dang, ok, then, for some reason, I always thought he came on later. Carry on, much smarter people....
  4. Dee Gordon disagrees that guys who have no power can't get on base, play defense, and provide value at the MLB level. He has a .340 OBP......and is hitting over .290. Neither of these guys have his speed, clearly. My point is, we don't know if they can't get on base at the major league level right now. As I said, Rosario should be the starter for at least 2 more months. But, to dismiss both Granite and Wade as lost causes already seems suspect to me. YMMV, of course.
  5. What hyperbole, exactly? he's replacement level....he doesn't hit well compared to LFers, and he makes a lot of mental mistakes. Which part is hyperbole?
  6. did you just compare him to the league as a whole, including catchers, SS, and CF and even pitchers in NL games? that doesn't make any sense to me. He's not a good hitter. he's not a good fielder. He throws to the wrong base, and makes baserunning mistakes. He's replacement level. After 1000 ABs in the majors, not just starting out.
  7. I refuse to believe that promoting Gonsalves is rushing him. How long does he have to be very good to great before people promote him? If it's health.....how does pitching in AA make him less likely to get hurt than AAA?
  8. He should start until at least July/August. If Granite looks "ready", I'd call him up BEFORE September, to get some idea what he is/is not. I don't think Eddie will ever hit, and he has base running and throwing mistakes 2-3 times a month. He has mad natural ability, but so far, has not been able to grow as a player. He might be young, but he's been up and playing consistently, unlike Buxton or Hicks who did not get consistent time. As for trade? I'm guessing all the teams would agree, Eddie is a replacement level player, and isn't worth much as a main piece at all.
  9. Heh, isn't that pre-Cetera, when Chicago was, you know, good?
  10. Keith Law says Lewis is the Twins 2nd best prospect right now. Gordon number 1. There is more in the article, of course.
  11. Why anyone gives this pitching staff a free out its beyond me.
  12. It would appear that no matter how good the catchers, it kind of matters that the pitchers are just awful. But, hey, they dumpster dived again today, so that's great.
  13. I don't think the white Sox are very good at baseball. But then, I am at a brewery drinking sour beer, so what do I know....
  14. Never seen so many green crosses in my life!
  15. HIGH. VERY HIGH. though if you lived outside town, it might be ok.
  16. both are on my "if I ever really start watching tv" list for sure...
  17. My wife and I always say we are the only ones w/o a dog, and that I am nearly the only guy w/o a beard.
  18. traffic is terrible. We moved from hillsboro to the city this year, now I get to walk to stuff a lot. So, in many ways it is better for us now.
  19. Agreed, I don't see much NY/NJ in the people at all. Also agreed, very similar to Mpls, but with more hippy, so your mix sounds about right to me.
  20. That's not a chicago thing, it is a US thing! * I don't get it. Relax, interact, enjoy life! *the heads down, don't make eye contact / interact with other humans thing.
