  1. Encouraging first start. I will be surprised if he's not in the rotation to start the season next year. I have no idea if that fastball will work over multiple innings, but I think we'll find out next year.
  2. You wouldn't deal prospects for a legit 2/3 type (if there is one out there)?
  3. that's not how it works....do you want the division title, or not? There is real value in winning while you have the chance to win. I'm not even sure how that is debatable.
  4. Thin? They are incredibly deep in prospects....what they are is short of ELITE prospects....or not, not really, not compared to almost every org out there. They have 5 of Fangrpahs top 100 prospects, and another at 104, after graduating Kiriloff and Jeffers. Exactly how many top 100 would they need to have not to be "horribly thin"?
  5. So, just stop playing Rooker for the rest of the year? And Rortverdt?
  6. Minnesota, no matter what happens next. They needed him last year, and he was great.
  7. I'm suggesting he can only put players on the roster in the lineup. So, yes, I have no idea how you ripped him for something he doesn't control.
  8. You ripped the manager.....he has no say over that first line. I mean, really, your complaint for why they lost was how Baldelli filled out the lineup, and those are your two examples?
  9. Now imagine trying to pull off the perfect off season this year....They need those 14 wins, and Buxton healthy all year, and still more......
  10. He can only play the guys on the roster.... Does anyone think Rooker should be on the 40 man at the end of the year? Terrible draft pick. This FO needs to draft better, but I'm not seeing it......
  11. I think 3 is his starter peak, but if they had starters, he'd probably be a great RP, like Joe Nathan like.....that said, they have only 1 starter for next year, so he needs to start.....
  12. Royce Lewis. Or Simeon Woods Richardson. I think Martin will be starting about half the year for MN, either at SS or LF/CF (depending on Buxton's status).
  13. Guess they weren't playing service time games with Ryan (shocker some here were wrong about that).....
  14. This made me happy. Thank you. Great news! No idea if Ryan will be legit or not, but if he is, that's a GREAT trade (I could see him as Joe Nathan, which would also be great, btw.).
  15. Right, I always forget him for some reason.
  16. I agree that signing more than one number 4 type is a huge blunder. But maybe 1..... The key is signing a legit FA or trading for one. If they are lucky and Ober is this good, they sign a legit FA #2 type, and one guy is a 2 or 3 and they have a bunch of 3/4/5 types, the starters are ok. Not great, but ok to good. Maybe good enough to trade for a short term rental at the deadline. But, it all depends on Ober/Ryan being ready day 1, one of them being a 3 or better, and getting a legit #2 type in FA/trade (and, preferably one more #3/4 type). But, it seems a LONG SHOT, and it might, might, be better to just get 1 legit veteran, and give all the young guys try outs and experience. I was for trading for Means, but man, he has struggled in the 2nd half.
  17. Someone has to pitch.. the minors are filled with fringe players.....
  18. I always viewed him as the bonus part of the trade.
  19. To be clear, what year did the Sox sign that many expensive players? What year did any team?
  20. Ober. and Um.....hmmmmm. no other starter right now? In the bullpen, Duffey, Gant, and Taylor Rogers. Most likely Jax or Dobnak in relief / AAA. Alcala in AAA to start the year. After that? Anyone's guess.
  21. They should have traded Kepler while they were winning divisions? They should not have traded prospects when they were winning divisions? They should have magically only traded bad prospects for good players?
  22. They have a ton of minor league depth. I expect a trade for a decent to good starter. I expect a good free agent. And Ober. After that? Well, Ryan should be up getting his feet wet...... Mostly it will have to be extreme good luck for next year to work.
  23. So, if doctors think they should try something OTHER THAN CUTTING INTO THEIR BODY, they shouldn't?
