  1. I'm sure not giving three pieces that good for one RP .... No way
  2. Rooker had one great month, and since had been not good. I said nothing about Larnach. He's been better than rooker in the majors, when given a chance and healthy. I like Larnach.... people here seem somewhat irrational about his actual play.
  3. Truth. Seriously. Rooker isn't good. If that's what Larnach is, they should trade him.
  4. Now multiply that by 30 teams.....that's a lot of unsigned HS guys. And that's only late round guys.....
  5. Just the Twins? There are thousands of HS kids drafted since this rule was put in place, that's a lot of analysis. But, I'll bet good money more than a few unsigned HS kinds have gone to college and been great, and drafted again (which is one reason they go to college if they aren't paid A LOT not to).
  6. I think people have been clear....we don't know if he's unlocked something. We know Farmer and Castro aren't starters on a playoff team (or, really, a team trying to make the playoffs for a month w/o a starting 3B).
  7. Burrow carted off, but it is "just" a calf injury. Jalen Ramsey may have a serious knee injury. I like to watch the NFL, but I have to intentionally NOT think about what I'm watching people do to their bodies (though it is their choice to do it).
  8. This. They could have tried to get another HS kid in earlier rounds. Like, you know, Winkour (who hit a HR in his first game!).
  9. What shot? It's a discussion of whether it is a good idea or not......and it likely is if the only other team not to is the Rockies.....
  10. i fully acknowledge he might not be good, but we know what Farmer and Castro are, and that's very good backups / utility guys, not every day 3B.
  11. i saw your numbers....it's a drop in the bucket for a team with a payroll this high, and other costs (FO, marketing, etc.). Doesn't matter, I was saying I'd take the chance, you wouldn't. No biggie we don't agree.
  12. Plus he plays third and LF....no idea why a team that wants to make the playoffs decided not to at least try him at 3B when Lewis went down......and play Castro and Farmer (neither of whom is hitting a lick). Sure, they might have a 40 man crunch, but are you trying to win, or trying to preserve the future (like it matters if they lose a fringe 40 man guy)?
  13. Several HS players taken later did sign for less money than this (IIRC) this year. I do agree that in negotiating with Jenkins, this may have been the line......but that doesn't explain every other year since this rule was put in place. One of 2 teams.
  14. I mean, I'd trade any hitter in AAA right now.....they mostly seem hurt (Miranda / Austin) or AAAA quality (and, as you point out, not young). They don't appear to be willing to give Prato a shot this year, even with LF and 3B basically a black hole right now, so I'm not sure why you don't try to get something for these guys. So, yes, we agree on that for sure. Plus, that opens space in AAA for Lee, Severino, and Kiersey (who isnt getting any younger).
  15. Outside a handful of people, does anyone think this is the plan? No chance. Zero.
  16. If they keep Steer and CES......they'd have to clear that space in the off season, not with the 60 day.....
  17. Sure, but only because Polanco was hurt...do we think they'd move him w/o that? We're just going to disagree, since all Wallner does is hit at every level, and he's not able to beat out Gallo on this roster....
  18. I'd think they could have gotten one of the last two picks for that money....or signed Jenkins earlier to relive all our anxiety. I don't get it.
  19. There literally would not even be room for all those guys on this years forty man....
  20. Based on what evidence? All the other guys getting promoted this year? Where would he be playing if polanco was never hurt?
  21. Those players aren't interchangeable. Miranda has, if we're generous, two defensive homes. One is third, with Lewis and Lee and Severino and Prato and Farmer and Castro. One is first, competing with AK, possibly others. He's not getting DH time with Buxton and Julien and Wallner here. As for there never being a bottle neck, Julien was in AAA until polanco got hurt. Wallner has sat in AAA while Gallo played.
  22. That fangraphs article shows how bad 24 and 25 will be if they don't bring back Ohtani..... And maybe even if they do. There is no near term future to break. In context, this actually makes sense. Unless you can trade both him and trout and get super lucky....
  23. This article makes a great point about 24 and 25.... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/angels-bet-on-themselves-acquire-giolito-and-lopez-to-bolster-playoff-hopes/
