  1. 1, A trade for a guy if they are in contention. Is this debatable? 2. Ya, no. They also got rid of Polanco's salary. They netted 5-8 million (I've seen different numbers). 3. Yup. And I doubt the Twins love him either. He was there to even out the money so the Twins got more prospect capital.
  2. They might, might, deal for a player that makes money (or at the deadline). Things I think are true: The Twins are less good now for 2024 than they were. The bullpen is better. The SP is deeper, but I'm not a fan of the new guy and have doubts. It sucks for Varland if he's in AAA, as he's losing a ton of money will in AAA. The farm is deeper. They aren't done trading. Things I like: I like the new RP I like the new prospects, and think the pitcher could move quickly if they make him a RP full time. I like the new OF..... Things I think will happen: Twins will sign an ok player. Twins will trade for a good player. It's possible for most of the thoughts on this thread to be true at the same time. Things I'm certain of: Seattle was not dealing any of their good ML SP. No way.
  3. Fair.....but if the front 7 isn't addressed, not even Mahomes could carry this team to the promised land.
  4. "still" I mean, sure, if 2-3 months in AAA shows us anything much......He was in AAA less than a year from being drafted, and people say he hasn't shown anything....
  5. They just won the division and advanced in the playoffs, and you want to fire the FO? Unreal.
  6. DL,DL, DL They have zero good starters in the front 4-5 right now.....
  7. Or, they got some money, a RP and will use that money to replace Polanco with someone similar, or in a position of more need? Plus two prospects....
  8. If they spend the money well, they get a good player, a good RP, a fifth starter, a good prospect, and a flyer prospect..... I'm failing to see this as anything but good, assuming they spend the money well.
  9. Because gray is gone? I mean, it seems likely they won't be as good or healthy, so more bullpen arms they trust is important.
  10. I'm struggling to figure out who they can sign or trade for, looking at the free agents and bad teams.... Twins need an OF, DH, maybe 1b..... That's bellinger, but they aren't paying that. But yes, if they reallocate that money, and get a legit player, it's hard not to like the deal.
  11. Ya, I'm baffled anyone thinks Seattle is trading a starting pitcher. Utterly baffled..
  12. Why do you think that last part? I don't for one minute. Why does anyone think Seattle is trading one of their good starters? That's not where they are competitively. And yes, neither are the twins, and I doubt the twins are done.
  13. Is that arm available from a team that wants Polanco? No idea, but I'm hard pressed to find such a team right now.
  14. I don't love this for this year, but the RP is likely more valuable than the starter. Frankly, I'd deal the starter for a PTBNL and not start him.....
  15. A reliver, a top 100 prospect, and a flyer prospect..... What were people expecting for a guy that hasn't been healthy in several years?
  16. Is anyone paying attention to the fact Seattle is sending millions to Minnesota before posting?
  17. I'm not convinced they are done.... I'd guess this is part of a series of moves...
  18. Salas is 19.... Maybe let's not decide on that yet? Otherwise,I agree with this all. I mean, Bowen could be a very good RP if they move him there full time, pretty quickly.
  19. Money is coming to Minnesota. The prospects are interesting, if not highly ranked last year. I was hoping for more, frankly, maybe that was a mistake.
  20. It's almost a rounding error for the team, especially if salaries keep rising. It's life altering money, with the small risk you give up even MORE MONEY........this seems like a much better deal than the Atlanta players signed, for sure.
