  1. They have 10 40+ and 5 40 value players. They could have added a LHP for two of those and not sold the farm. It's not a switch, on/off. It's a dial.
  2. I can't imagine they are signing after this year, given their budget constraints.
  3. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/zipsing-up-the-trade-deadline/ Looks like everyone in the AL that the Twins are fighting with got more better (making me wonder how the math actually works).
  4. right, we never know what teams think about players, or if they want a position, or a guy closer to the majors or what.......other than what we see them do (but that takes time beyond the trade).
  5. I think this is fair. I think it's also fair that people vent less than 24 hours after the team they root for does nothing at the trade deadline. Not even a full day yet.
  6. The Kikuchi trade is being widely panned as a bad trade. I don't know why anyone would make that deal. Puk brought back a 40+ and a 40 (on Fangraphs). Twins have 10 40+ guys and a handful of 40 guys. They likely could lose one of each and been just fine.
  7. Dude has been great this year, and deserves all kinds of praise.
  8. Fair. I can't imagine how Puk was a deal breaker money wise, frankly. And, sorry, been a LONG week.
  9. They haven't played a significantly different set of teams than most other teams. We are well over half way thru the year. Also, this post is made every year......almost no team is one player from being the best team in the league. The question is, could they have traded for a LHRP and been a better team? A team more likely to win? Not, should they have made a trade for a player that wasn't traded....
  10. I think this is fair, and I"m good w/ not trading him......I'm just surprised they didn't emulate the Rays here.
  11. We have reports from MN reporters saying money was an issue. I don't know how else to take that, other than money was an issue.
  12. It's true that so the lower revenue teams act this way. It's also true none of them win it all anytime. I think we should acknowledge that, and not get down on them for not winning it all.
  13. Literally no one hates him.
  14. I don't think ownership is. They didn't add last deadline, even with the best pitching they've ever had. They cut payroll in the off season. They didn't add at the deadline this year. I don't think ownership cares about winning at all. This is a decades long pattern.
  15. I'm not sure I ever said it would.
  16. So it didn't work once so quit? How has not going for it worked the last two decades?
  17. As you know.... If you've read my posts, my point is that this is the excuse every year. That they aren't one player away. That no good players were traded. That the price was too high. It can't be true every year*. Unless every other team in baseball is wrong. *Excepting one year.
  18. Aren't they hurting the Twins long term by taking their players?
  19. Every player One trillion dollars
  20. Who said it was certain to work? I said I'd pay that price. And, as I've said repeatedly, if it's the same story every year, there's more to it than just this year not being the right year. Also, it's a self fulfilling prophecy not to add players, and claim you don't have enough players to be good.... But yes, the key failure was the off season and cutting payroll.
  21. If a team cares more about that than getting the best prospects back, thatt are idiots. Seriously.
