  1. Also, welcome to our small little Maybe May belongs in the Bullpen club. There are only a few of us even entertaining the idea but we welcome any who are curious. There's a Twins Daily poster who goes by the name 'USAFChief' who is our lead advocate
  2. I wouldn't doubt he said that, but it really makes no sense. He was on fire the first half.
  3. I think what will hurt Dougie the most is temperament.
  4. No, Substitute a couple of words and I actually think this describes the Minneapolis Park & Rec board more than anything. No. Do not ignore this.
  5. Carlos Correa's two out double to center is a game tying homer in 28 other parks except for Fenway and Astros gimmick center field hill. Too bad so sad.
  6. I know it's coming up on 2016 and Mauer of today is a different player, but this still gives me chills. Gardner's run would have ended the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfeJMiuKbf4
  7. Brent Spiner can't keep a straight face (and I bet they shot that scene 10+ times)
  8. That's not a river, it's Lake Erie. What you are mistaking for the opposite bank of a river is maybe just a huge pile of floating junk?
  9. ok hold on while on turn my radio down Vanimal? Hey, I wanted to bring something up but didn't know where else to do it until now. This was totally ridiculous, and I am still laughing. Bummer about dropping both games of the doubleheader Saturday. What I want to say is I think the play that broke the season was made in the 7th right after the Sano homer. You know what I'm talking about. With Plouffe on third and one out, 7th inning, tie game, Suzuki called his own safety squeeze bunt. Hello? Ok, you are as speechless as I am, I guess. Yeah I know Escobar and Dozier made ridiculous errors in the 12th, but the game shouldn't have gone to the 12th. I mean, what is Plouffe supposed to do? He probably thought he missed a sign. Why didn't Suzuki just swing away? Sac fly, hello? Are players on this team so brainwashed by the bunt that they will sacrifice one of the most important outs of the season for it? The funny thing is it was a really close play. I was alternately laughing and angry at Molitor all day for calling that play until I read that it was all on Suzuki. I still laugh when I think about it. How can you not laugh. Imagine if Gardy called for a safety squeeze with David Ortiz batting and Matthew LeCroy on third. But just because it was a close play doesn't mean it almost worked. The toss from the pitcher was horrible. From 30-35 feet, a better throw is made probably 97 times out of 100, making it not a close play at all. If it had been bunted closer to the line, the first baseman would have made the play instead of deferring to the pitcher. If Suzuki's ball was bunted softer, the catcher might have ran out for it and tagged the runner out himself. Like Mauer did that one time. ........................sorry, I think I got cut off. I'll call back.
  10. He will finish the season and get a couple more starts. Say something nice? Absolutely. When Pelfrey had his forkball going earlier in the season, it was fun to watch. To all the people who love to complain about negativity, go back and look at those game threads when Pelfrey was pitching well. Very positive and fun. People were very optimistic that Pelfrey might keep it going. Unfortunately for some pitchers, the grips on their pitches come and go. Pelfrey lost the magic combination of grip and delivery that made his forkball so successful. Or split change, or whatever you want to call it. Hopefully he can rediscover that pitch. Hopefully he will land on another team that will give him as many chances as the Twins did.
  11. This same exact thread, with all the same links, could also be written about Glen Perkins. Do I like it? Not really. But fair is fair. The supporting anecdotes are out there. Hopefully Mauer and some of the other guys commit to a strength program in the offseason, as suggested in this thread. They will actually feel much better and it would help them get through an entire season healthy and eliminate the competitive advantage other teams have over us this time of year.
  12. I agree. I want to watch Buxton hit, and I do not want to miss that first home run! (which by the way, as fun as it is to watch him run, I hope is an over-the-fence job) That's part of what bothers me about Molitor taking the bat out of Buxton's hands in the late innings (via sac bunt or PH) but that's for another post.
  13. This is exactly what I took from reading it. It also should go without saying that most of Mauer's critics are still his fans and we want him to do well. I think the OP pointed that out, too. I also predicted Mauer would bounce back this year offensively. He hasn't. That makes me wary of predicting next year will be the bounce back year. This post also does not address Mauer's fielding at first base, which unfortunately is below average and not getting better, in my opinion. Kennys Vargas has played first his entire career, has good instincts and makes some good plays, and has much more room for improvement than Mauer, I'd bet. Let's hope the Twins are having this exact same discussion, about the future of Mauer. It's Joe Mauer for pete's sake! We all want this to end well. If Mauer's hitting skills are gone, then the Twins need to find another way for it to end well, that doesn't involve him hitting.
  14. I just realized Pelfrey is starting tomorrow. That explains why he is not available for long relief tonight . By the way, the Twins do not have a long reliever, so we can dispel that myth. No one tonight pitched more than 2 innings. That is not long relief.
  15. I get your joke, by the way Walking with an intentional gait, because of he.... well, you know.
  16. No, I think you describing Brett's hemorrhoids, chief.
  17. Honestly, if Pelfrey can't get warm in time to come into a game like this when we need him, then he doesn't deserve to pitch another inning for us.
  18. Dozier was also smart enough to file for the "opposite field" exemption, which is only available to Twins in A ball, or to players who file the exemption with the Twins within two years of their first professional appearance.
  19. Was it one of these limbs? http://findingflorida.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P3200068.jpg
  20. This somehow makes Terry Ryan brilliant?
  21. Thanks, Mrs. Lincoln. (other than Chicago, how are the Wild?)
  22. Yes. Believe it or not, Astros fans are fully convinced their team will NOT be in the postseason this year. That leaves.... us or the Angels??? Or maybe the Houston front office has declared this season a Success!TM and have packed it in and are playing for next year.
  23. The trick I learned is to say "The End!" before you get to the last few pages
  24. I can sort of defend using a pinch runner for Sano in the 9th, but yeah, sometimes tie games go to extra innings! Who'da thunk it? Hard one to stomach tonight.
  25. Duensing is a great guy I realize, and great guys are great to have in a great clubhouse and stuff, but Duensing he can't be on the team next year.
