  1. I also agree with above posters. I know there is data behind it, but it intuitively does not make sense that Sano's double was statistically 5 times more important that Mauer's double.
  2. Also, Gladden was blaming Hunter getting picked off second on Escobar not laying down a sacrifice bunt on a strike pitch. "Torii thought Escobar was going to bunt that, so Torii took an extended lead off second." Umm, no. Unless Molitor and the Twins have created something they call "the suicide sacrifice" to advance base runners.
  3. yep, I'd even go one further and say if you have to go to frame-by-frame super slo-mo, you are abusing the spirit of replay.
  4. Brand of baseball. Downward plane. Major league level. Bert Blyleven.
  5. My new favorite words: "Pop up, this should be playable!"
  6. Suzuki came in to catch Perkins. 11 pitches, 11 strikes, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs. CBU: 4-2 good guys after 8.
  7. Gosh an 0-2 hit off Perkins. Kipnis now batting. Help.
  8. Boyer, Fein, May, Jepsen. Half way there.
  9. what are you asterisking? I think you've misused the asterisk there. Also, I am opening another beer.
  10. Funny the Vikings are playing at Denver again Sunday. If they can crush the pocket like they did yesterday they will have a chance.
  11. Yeah Tarvaris never really worked out here.
  12. Concur. Would be hard to find fault with Milone's outing, or taking him out now. Would be hard to second guess that. (I will try my best, though:)
  13. I bet Molitor will use a situational closer next year, with Perkins and Jepsen splitting most save situations. Hopefully next year we have another good arm to add to that.
  14. I bet there's some professional jealously in players siding with Papelbon. Harper is only 22 and is miles better than all those other guys and they are probably too proud to admit that.
  15. Players are siding with Papelbon, but anonymously. LOL
  16. Sano is hustling out triples and Buxton is hitting dingers, I don't even know this team anymore.
  17. Gardy to the rescue! (mostly serious)
  18. Sano: they should have called him up in June when he had already been mashing a while and the Twins went into that collective slump. In fact I remember some discussion threads asking what Sano might even be worth in a trade. Why leave him in the minors for so long? I was one of those who wondered if there was something wrong with him. Guess there wasn't. Rosario: didn't know enough about him. Twins Daily has really gotten me interested in minor league goings-on, however. (That, and some extra time on my hands in my "old" age.) so Rosario seemed to come from nowhere. He is a plus in the outfield, so much more valuable than Arcia. Which is good, as it frees up Arcia to be used as a DH vs righties. Rosario, if he can lay off bad pitches might be an All Star at some point. Hicks: I always felt he was a bit of a scape goat, maybe still is, but his extended stay in AAA at the start of 2015 was well earned with all the shenanigans surrounding him. If this is the real Hicks we are seeing, wow. Although I think he's hit a little slump here now. Escobar: goes without saying Molitor gave Santana too much rope. There shouldn't be a competition for shortstop in 2016. I also think there could have been a few extra wins in there. Can't get them back though. We can however go into 2016 with a better shot at the postseason, provided the pitching holds up.
  19. Time for someone to update the Escobar vs. Tulowitzki thread
  20. Line drives in gloves are outs, too
  21. That was also my first reaction. Replay looks like it was bounce throw which Dozier had to control first (thanks Hicks) otherwise Dozier slaps the tag down if he gets the throw in the air.
  22. Escobar's got wheels! They are tiny tiny wheels, but they are wheels
  23. The patient is still breathing!
  24. Concur, Castellanos fouled off a couple of those two strike pitches, not in the strike zone but still close enough to foul off. Then rips one.
