  1. In a couple of different paragraphs you mentioned the service clock issue. I think Willihammer made a really good point. With Berrios on the 25-man, maybe Molitor would have swapped Berrios into the rotation for Pelfrey, and probably rode Berrios harder than Ryan was comfortable with. It's certainly a plausible explanation, unlike most of the other explanations floated out there. It's also not something Ryan would come out and state directly to the media. All of this could have and should have been handled differently. At least we got Duffey somewhere in the middle of all that.
  2. LF Rosario CF Buxton RF Hicks For some reason I really prefer this alignment of Rosario in left and Hicks in right. Rosario has played really well in both right and left though.
  3. I wonder if this guy is quietly becoming dominant. Two more appearances since the last update (sorry I'm stepping on your touchdown call Steve Lein) In 2 games, 9 batters faced, 1 hit, 2 walks, 5 Strikeouts. (Two balls put in play.) Obviously there's a less than < 1 percent chance he will be called up, but a guy can dream. If he seems more confident. I wonder if he would carry that confidence with him to the big league mound in a pennant race.
  4. 33 always, that is the nicest thing I think I've even seen written on here--thank you!
  5. That doesn't sound like something Ryan would say, but whatever. Sounds like you and me would both like to hear what Jack Goin's input on this decision was.
  6. The Vin Scully lexicon: try to read these without hearing his voice http://opinion.latimes.com/opinionla/2011/03/decoding-dodgers-announcer-vin-scully.html
  7. I am saying trade for relievers outside the organization. That statement makes no sense - isn't that what Ryan did anyway with Jepsen and Cotts? Clippard went to the Mets for an A ball arm of arguable potential. That trade has worked out quite well. I hope your assumption is right, that Ryan will now bid on quality bullpen guys this offseason like a Clippard or O'Day. I'd rather have a single one of those guys than 2 or 3 Boyers and Duensings, for about the same price. Even better if you develop your own young players to fill these roles for league minimum. We'll see.
  8. Remember, if you call those guys up, they might hurt their arms.
  9. Agree completely. But, these guys are trying to win and this is a pennant race! "You guys were supposed to suck, pack it in and wait until next year when you are better" does not make a good locker room speech to the players. I think the off season is the best time to reflect on how well the Twins have done in 2015. So expect there to be pretty heavy debate and second guessing right to the end.
  10. When you say "no longer fit to play third," are you saying because he let himself go and now weighs 310 lbs? Because first or third base is where you stash those guys anyway.
  11. I'm kind of surprised Sano is not pinch hitting here.
  12. Dang it---Wow Danny that was close. Great swing.
  13. Nope, just getting into it 100% The passion in complaining is matched by the passion when the team is winning.
  14. What happened to the bottom of the 6th? It was over before it started.
  15. Yeah that guy is an actual baseball fan too, which is a nice change from most booth guests.
  16. I'm pissed the Twins kept passing on Piazza in 1988.
  17. Yeah he's a good fielder and not bad as a #8 hitter when the team is winning. I would never want him up in a clutch at bat. Like this one right now.
  18. This is probably a pretty accurate take on Ryan's thinking. This is also the type of closed minded thinking that gets people killed in war. Fortunately, baseball isn't war, it's something we can all enjoy. Unfortunately, majority of teams do treat the MLB season as war. But fortunately, the war machines of MLB do lose from time to time, and old fashioned teams like the Twins can sneak pretty far into the postseason sometimes, and it helps if they are putting their best team on the field.
  19. Did any beat writers ask him for a reason?
  20. Terry probably thinks he has a tough decision on his hands. I hope he comes to a decision, whatever it may be. It's interesting to read that Berrios leads all pitchers in strikeouts in all of the minor leagues, however. Not many pitchers would get the opportunity to do that like Berrios has.
  21. Bucknor was way too liberal in calling that back door curve for a strike. Many of those pitches started too far outside and never made it back over the plate. Ironically Escobar reached out and hit a single on that same curve ball the other guys were getting rung up on. And then Duffey wasn't getting the low strikes. I thought Duffey pitched well even if the boxscore looks like he suddenly imploded and was maybe left in a couple batters too long. That's why they pay Molitor and not us
