  1. ...and the predictable result: K
  2. Somehow Sano comes up as the tying run.
  3. Didn't seem fair to Wimmers for Suzuki to just call fastball after fastball
  4. all while naked, right?
  5. not taking sides on the subtopic, but I couldn't agree more with this!
  6. Agree with your post but not the little dig at Rosario. Upton was being waved around before Kepler even kicked it away. Rosario had zero chance. (at least that's my interpretation from the replay)
  7. Yes, I amend my original comment after reading and reflecting on the article (not that I'm anyone to speak about life skills in the first place). I was thinking of those ballplayers who really have no excuses, some who luck out, some who don't, not to mention the Schilling types who turn the tables and hurt the lives of other people. But particularly in the NFL and NBA there are some really sad stories of guys who come from terrible poverty and have almost no chance, for those reasons you mention and in the article.
  8. Yah. They get that far without learning life skills, and they certainly don't learn any during their careers.
  9. Agree. Coaching helped Dozier this season. As long as they are coaching Sano to be a better Sano I can't complain. But maybe they need different coaches for that. Who knows.
  10. I'm not going to the State Fair til next week--no spoilers please
  11. http://twinsdaily.com/articles.html/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins/brian-dozier-pulls-himself-out-of-slump-r4849 You mention Dozier, but did Dozier break out of his slump by hitting opposite field, or did he start hitting to all fields after he broke out of his slump?
  12. I heard Gladden say Wednesday that they were making Sano hit balls oppo field during batting practice, so the winning should start any minute now.
  13. They could have let him pitch in relief. I still don't understand why they didn't consider a temporary stint in the bullpen for him last September and now this season.
  14. Given the success Berrios had in the minors, don't you have your conclusion turned around? Or am I reading it wrong?
  15. Agree. Berrios is just part of the larger pattern. Poor kid.
  16. I doubt Berrios needed any fixing when he was called up, though I agree he needs fixing now.
  17. I would love to see Norris in person some time--this is the guy who lived out of his van and then beat cancer. Only 22. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/162979090/daniel-norris-beats-cancer-looks-ahead-to-2016/
  18. A Twins facebook post this morning indicates that this game will be televised closed circuit at the Twins booth at the State Fair today. But wouldn't you rather listen to Provus and Gladden for a change? You might learn something.
  19. Dozier is the closest thing to a leader we got. I couldn't trade him. Should have traded Buxton or Sano when those guys still had value.
  20. Thanks again. Haven't seen Park mentioned lately. Is he slumping? Is he being taught to stretch forward for low throws instead of backing into the base path?
  21. True. That is another way of looking at it. From the outside, again just an opinion here, but would it look justifiable to you to put Sano on the DL? That could have happened Friday instead of optioning Vargas again. Sano hasn't gotten a hit since the MRI was taken. His elbow might still be affecting him despite what he says publicly.
  22. No, there's usually more behind it. Vargas plays first base pretty well. He was hitting well until he lost time to Polanco and Plouffe sometime during the first week of August, and then the 0-fers started piling up. Polanco is defensible but Plouffe is a known quantity at this point. In my opinion, instead of playing the optioning game with Vargas and pretending this is the proper thing for his development, the Twins should just trade him. Gladden said on a broadcast this summer that other teams had interest in him.
  23. Not so far fetched, now that both Grossman and Santana as outfielders have dropped below Sano, measured by UZR/150
