  1. There are a few things Klobuchar does really well, but I am skeptical of her legislative victories. I follow her on Facebook. This appears to be her basic formula: 1. Something bad happens that should never happen. 2. Klobuchar rides in with Jeff Flake and other low impact Senators on a “That Thing that happened should Never happen” bipartisan bill. 3. Klobuchar boasts about “getting things done.” The point is that she’s never out in front on anything. Witness her position on single payer. She’s saying that if she’s president and controls Congress, she still doesn’t think single payer would be “immediately attainable”? Also, she is always seeking Republican buy in. Republicans aren’t in it to pass good bills anymore. I just don’t think she’s that effective or inspiring. People will disagree. I’m willing to keep an open mind on her.
  2. We all mean different things by the L word. Klobuchar won't come right out and say she's for single payer, despite a friendly environment for it, but she'll continue to support Rube Goldberg-labyrinthine piecemeal health care bills that kinda sorta expand access to certain yada yada yada... Truth be told I'd probably vote for her if she's the nominee. But I'm not sure how effective she would be as President. Probably not much.
  3. HRC was not a liberal.
  4. LOL I'm old enough to remember who the 2016 candidate was, but carry on
  5. Astudillo holds the stronger hand because he can catch, and very well.
  6. Astudillo is a lock to make the team.
  7. Not big enough for all of Cron, Austin, Duda, Schoop, Torreyes, Adrianza, and Gonzalez
  8. Thanks Pseudo! Following on that, i think people need to hear Medicare-for-all, progressive taxation, etc. I understand “free college” sounds a little sketchy, even to my ears, but Bernie needs to be in the race to talk about these things. I mean, Greenspan was floating the idea of nationalizing banks during the banking crisis after the 2008 campaign. These “socialist” ideas are not as radical as the media talkers would have us believe. From here in early 2019, it would seem to be a nail biter if Bernie was the nominee versus Trump. But Trump is very unpopular. And again, Bernie is not likely anyway. But let’s hear this out.
  9. I know what you mean about “authentic,” but I disagree. I mean, Trump is authentic (except when he’s reading speeches off the Teleprompter). Authenticity can come in any number of flavors. That said, I know what you mean. Bernie won’t win the Have a Beer With the Candidate contest. He’s not a fresh face. He’s from the most pure, liberal state in the Union. Personally, I believe in most his positions. His supporters didn’t cost Hillary the election (IMO). Its hard to know what the 2020 intra-party primary warfare will look like, or if his team will be the nastiest. I highly doubt he wins the bid. I liked Bernie last time but am playing wait-and-see this time. I, I, I... Did I mention, I know what you mean?
  10. Senator Flake, is that you?
  11. Maybe they need a new stadium!
  12. It's a terrible indignity, for the inventor of the baseball shoe, to be forgotten in this way.
  13. I wasn't a fan of the Perez signing, but signing him on January 30th as opposed to February 30th after camp has started is much better.
  14. Bowden - he strikes me as someone who would just copy other people's lists. He's also got Lewis too low.
  15. Well, I was searching "feral cat births" earlier this morning, but this article did not appear in the results, so, yeah not really.
  16. All true, I just prefer to see these extensions as the team and the player believing in each other. In the unlikely event Gordon ever "forces the issue" on Polanco, it will mean Gordon has trade value again, and can be traded just as well as Polanco. By the way, good job using Gordon and Lewis in the same sentence. I like these extensions the more I think about it. Contractually they are not earth shattering, but I think it speaks to a vision and commitment.
  17. I see this extension more as the front office articulating a vision of their middle infield, Polanco and Lewis, and the more I think about it, the more I like it. It makes sense for posters to bring up Gordon's future or lack of future with the team in this thread.
  18. a "Twins extend Polanco" thread is a perfectly logical place for posters to bring up Gordon.
  19. Yeah, so, second baseman of the future. Not bad; it's ok, Polanco is a very good hitter and adequate fielder. The Gordon ship has apparent sailed. Adjust sights accordingly.
  20. About another prospect, you said stats are just a piece of the puzzle. Here, you seem to be saying that stats alone will be what figures in his promotion. Can you clarify for us mortals when we're ok to consider stats, and when we're not?
  21. Top 10 for a pitcher still in Rookie ball seems awfully aggressive, yet you sound like you are apologizing Top 3 still seems a tad aggressive. He sure looks like a nice prospect, however.
  22. they, them, their You sure you got them pronouns right?
  23. I've been thinking about this. Hell, I'd just call it The Deal. As in, "ok here's the f---ing deal..."
