  1. Culpepper and Roden are my picks. Cut Arcia and option Kreidler.
  2. They really have no choice but to keep playing him in the hopes that he heats up and a team is willing to take his backloaded contract at the trade deadline. That $1.25M buyout is a big chunk of what he is still owed.
  3. .280/.407/.540 in May and .391/.481/.696 so far in June. That’s exactly what Culpepper needs to do to force the promotion.
  4. It is true, unless you count the rehabbing Abel and Sands. Matthews, Prielipp, Morris and Paredes were promoted. Marco Raya has an ERA of 6.29. Klein has an ERA of 5.73 and is walking 4 batters per 9 innings. Funderburk has been lousy since his demotion. Festa is injured. The best options are 30-year-old lefty Aaron Rozek or CJ Culpepper, who has pitched 10 games in AAA.
  5. The Twins haven’t really cared about defense at second base since Todd Walker took over for Knoblauch.
  6. Junkballers are most useful when they throw strikes.
  7. Yes. He’s still trying to pull the outside pitch but his plate discipline has improved. It helps to swing at strikes.
  8. You should be very suspicious of stats from St Paul. Offense is very high in AAA. He ended up in Buffalo, where he currently has an ERA over 23. They can fast track Sands and Abel back to the Twins. There is nobody blocking their return.
  9. Breaks Lee was on base before the Bell HR but he got himself picked off. That was a really dumb time to try to steal 2B with one of their slowest runners.
  10. Wichita could use some talent. Maybe they will get Winokur and Marek Houston after the draft.
  11. He has been the best reliever on the team by a pretty big margin.
  12. I doubt anyone gives you much for Kody Clemens but if some gets irrationally exuberant you trade him.
  13. Only about 20% of 3rd round picks have a career as good as Royce Lewis. If Winokur can do that well he will have beaten the odds.
  14. He is performing about as well as you would expect a 3rd round pick to perform. 3rd round picks have a 40% chance of appearing in MLB and a 20% chance of playing 3+ seasons
  15. Morris looks a lot better in a 1-inning role. Adams is awful. Klein and Paredes have FIP above 5. All those guys can do right now is help the team lose. Their best bullpen strategy has been scooping up whoever Tampa Bay gets rid of.
  16. So more innings from lousy middle relievers will save the season?
  17. They need to make those extensions before those players reach arbitration.
  18. Skubal has a $32M salary and “loose bodies” in his elbow. That alone will reduce his trade value.
  19. If Bell gets injured they can bring Wallner up to DH. Otherwise I would like to see Roden after he has had two weeks to get his timing back.
  20. With better defense they might have Joe Ryan pitching the seventh inning. The offense really misses Buxton and Jeffers.
