The Angels and White Sox aren't even popular in their own city but the Rays are the #2 team in their market to the Yankees, who don't even play in the same state. They're being forced to play in the Yankees minor league park because they don't even have a stadium to play in. I think that qualifies the Rays as the least relevant team in baseball. At least the Twins are #1 in their own market and have a legitimate baseball stadium to play in. Imagine if the Saints had remained affiliated with the Dodgers, the MN market kept a large number of Dodgers fans over the years, the Twins were forced to play their home games at CHS Field because the Metrodome fell down, and despite playing in a minor league ballpark, the only games they sold out were against the Dodgers.

Twins 12, Angels 3: The Royce Lewis Show
DJL44 replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
SWR has been better than Ober this season and I expect Festa will move to the bullpen next year. He's been as good as Matthews and he's younger than Matthews. I'm guessing the rotation is Lopez, Bradley, SWR, Matthews and Abel.- 29 replies

The Giants look very likely to trade Eldridge for pitching this offseason after acquiring Devers from the Red Sox.

What the Heck Happened to José Miranda?
DJL44 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He has looked obviously unhappy with the Saints when I have watched him play. When he makes an out or a bad fielding play, everyone in the ballpark gets to watch him throw a fit. -
MLB trade rumors had an interesting article about how the Giants are interested in replenishing their rotation with Sonny Gray this offseason. I wonder if they would be even more interested in local phenom Joe Ryan. Ryan was drafted by the Giants out of high school but opted to attend Cal State Northridge instead. He could probably be convinced to sign a long term contract extension with his hometown team. What would you want in return from the Giants? I think Bryce Eldridge would have to headline the return. I would also ask for Whisenhunt.

Jenkins will take a corner. Which corner is still unknown. Typically the next best fielding OF gets RF, but RF is a short porch at Target Field and the Twins put Bader in LF. However, Austin Martin is a much better fit for LF than RF. I would start the season with Jenkins in LF, Buxton in CF and Rodriguez in RF with Martin on the bench and Wallner as the DH. The Twins might prefer to platoon Roden and Martin in LF and put Jenkins in RF.

Sabato has a .304 OBP in AAA with 14 walks to 73 Ks. If you don't like players with a bad OBP who occasionally hit dingers, then you're not going to like Sabato.

Teams do get a windfall for making the playoffs but that isn't as predictable as cutting payroll below $100M.

Keirsey is more likely to be picked up off waivers since he has 2 options left, but I expect both would not be claimed if outrighted this offseason.

OAA has him at -1 -2 in CF, +1 in LF and 0 at 2B It's all based on very small sample sizes. As a utility player he doesn't have much utility. If the 2026 bench players are Austin Martin, Kody Clemens and Brooks Lee, that would cover the positions they need to cover but the defense would be bad at SS and CF. They could slide Jenkins over to CF when Buxton needs a break, but they don't have a good backup at SS.

I don't think Jenkins will be added to the MLB roster until March 25 of next season.

I hope Raya makes his debut if Topa goes on the IL. Even if it goes poorly it would be more useful than bringing back Davis.

Guessing Topa ends up on the IL. Hoping someone other than Davis replaces him.

Ober and Out: Time to Shut Down Bailey Ober for 2025

What an absolute disaster year for Jose Miranda that he can't even get called up to play on this lousy team. Is his career over?

I really hope the owners aren’t planning on sabotaging their product by accelerating the decline of MLB with a lockout.

I think his hitting will improve but he’s not a shortstop. He is less athletic than most MLB middle infielders. He’s 24, so not that young, and has had access to high level coaching his entire life. He’s as experienced as any 24 year old player can be. His path to contributing is at 3B, but the Twins have Royce Lewis there. The Twins have known this since they drafted him, or they should have if they read any scouting reports.
