  1. The problem with using prospects before they're ready is you throw away the seasons when they're actually good. If Culpepper was ready to play for the Twins next season, he probably wouldn't be in Double-A right now. If they bring him up and he sucks they throw away a season of team control when he is 29 and might actually be good. Which year of Culpepper's career do you want - age 23 where he's overmatched and struggling or age 29 when he might be an above-average starter? Adding IK-F is exactly "filling the roster with defensive talent cheaply". I'm surprised you aren't equally upset that they would block Tait with Vazquez. I could make the same argument. in reverse Why sign Vazquez when they can go with top prospect Tait and let him develop at the MLB level? Tait is only one level behind Culpepper in the minors.
  2. Funderburk, Adams and Ohl are getting plenty of innings in the bullpen.
  3. They have the payroll space available to add the players they need to compete. There is no reason they have to wait until 2028.
  4. I think they will - in the second half of 2026 - when Culpepper is ready to debut. Until then I would like to see them put someone at SS who can field so Taj Bradley can have an ERA below 7. If this was true, then the Twins would have a really good defensive team right now. Their current team is lousy on defense and lousy on offense.
  5. Julien is a lousy first baseman, possibly worse than he is at second base. He's run out of defensive positions to try. Zebby clearly struck a batter out, but the umpire missed it. That turned into runs. Plus, the defense behind him was not good. He has an ERA of 5.06 and a FIP of 3.66.
  6. The Loons are never going to get me into that stadium as long as they keep playing Wonderwall.
  7. Would you rather go without a shortstop? They don't have an MLB caliber shortstop on the current roster.
  8. I would rather have IKF than no-hit no-field Julien. They need a SS who can field. There aren't very many stopgap options. They aren't going to pay for Ha-Seong Kim. A 1 WAR player isn't good but is still worth more than a -1 WAR player like Julien or Fitzgerald.
  9. I'm tired of bad, old minor leaguers like Gasper, Julien, Fitzgerald, Keirsey, Outman and half the bullpen. Give me an actual major leaguer over any of them.
  10. It's Jeff Conine, which is not a great piece of evidence in their favor.
  11. They had no trouble bringing Keaschall in to play 2B when Julien underperformed. I don't think they will have any trouble moving Kiner-Falefa to a utility role or onto another roster if they think Culpepper is ready.
  12. Lee is a really bad SS who will make the stats of all the pitchers look worse. Why acquire a groundball pitcher like Bradley and then play a bad SS behind him? It's really hard on a young pitching staff if they have to get an extra couple outs every game. An extra 20 pitches a game is an extra 120 pitches a week. Who is going to throw those 120 extra pitches? The worst relievers on the team are going to throw those extra 120 pitches.
  13. Both players are out of options. They're not staying on the 40-man roster. FWIW - Jonah Bride has clearly out-performed Miranda in AAA.
  14. I think signing Isaiah Kiner-Falefa as a stopgap SS is a good idea for 2026.
  15. Skenes is on the cover of every baseball video game.
  16. The Angels and White Sox aren't even popular in their own city but the Rays are the #2 team in their market to the Yankees, who don't even play in the same state. They're being forced to play in the Yankees minor league park because they don't even have a stadium to play in. I think that qualifies the Rays as the least relevant team in baseball. At least the Twins are #1 in their own market and have a legitimate baseball stadium to play in. Imagine if the Saints had remained affiliated with the Dodgers, the MN market kept a large number of Dodgers fans over the years, the Twins were forced to play their home games at CHS Field because the Metrodome fell down, and despite playing in a minor league ballpark, the only games they sold out were against the Dodgers.
  17. I have Jenkins above Roden and Martin on my depth chart. I think he's already likely as good as Bader. I assume Larnach will be traded and Jenkins will be in the outfield on opening day.
  18. I think they could fill a relief slot or 1B with a Larnach trade.
  19. SWR has been better than Ober this season and I expect Festa will move to the bullpen next year. He's been as good as Matthews and he's younger than Matthews. I'm guessing the rotation is Lopez, Bradley, SWR, Matthews and Abel.
  20. The Giants look very likely to trade Eldridge for pitching this offseason after acquiring Devers from the Red Sox.
  21. He has looked obviously unhappy with the Saints when I have watched him play. When he makes an out or a bad fielding play, everyone in the ballpark gets to watch him throw a fit.
  22. MLB trade rumors had an interesting article about how the Giants are interested in replenishing their rotation with Sonny Gray this offseason. I wonder if they would be even more interested in local phenom Joe Ryan. Ryan was drafted by the Giants out of high school but opted to attend Cal State Northridge instead. He could probably be convinced to sign a long term contract extension with his hometown team. What would you want in return from the Giants? I think Bryce Eldridge would have to headline the return. I would also ask for Whisenhunt.
