  1. The Twins get players as young as 16 years old. Their job is to make hitters more valuable. Players need a certain level of power to succeed in major league baseball. Slap hitters rarely find a niche. Think what Brian Dozier would have been if he stayed the single digit HR hitter he was in the minors.
  2. Funderburk saw his stock go up. He’s not an all-star but he looks okay.
  3. I hope Buxton gets enough league MVP down ballot votes to trigger his bonus.
  4. “He didn’t oversee a hitting philosophy that has utterly, disastrously failed the team for the past five seasons.” He absolutely did that. That is the manager’s responsibility.
  5. I would appreciate a playoff game update like we saw for the minor league updates every day during the season. I can't watch every game.
  6. Looks like they have no worries about Rule 5 next winter unless someone they leave exposed this year takes a step forward (DeAndrade?).
  7. Rumor mill has Thad Levine as the frontrunner for the Rockies GM job. Could Rocco follow him to Denver?
  8. Totally unrealistic that someone as young as 34 would be interested in the Twins.
  9. Mendez is 5 months older than Marek Houston. I don't think either one is quite ready for MLB. It is encouraging that a player the same age as recent draftees is hitting the ball in Double-A.
  10. Especially when it was $400M in debt earlier in the year when they were selling the team. They want us to believe they fielded a team with a $130M payroll and lost $100M this season. That would mean they need a $30M payroll to make a profit. They supposedly lost $100M this year and the only people who got fired are the baseball manager (who has no responsibility for profit and loss) and a bunch of scouts
  11. It is probably a good idea to move Mendez to 1B. He's not a fast runner and doesn't appear to be high enough on the depth chart defensively to get playing time in the outfield. First base is quite thin in the Twins system with non-prospects like Aaron Sabato, Nate Baez and Peyton Carr getting the most starts at that position. Billy Amick is the only player you would call a 1B prospect. Mendez should be able to get a LOT of playing time at 1B. It is probably a bad idea to make him the Opening Day 1B with no backup plan other than Kody Clemens. They should absolutely sign a veteran 1B (there are many options) to fill that position next season. Mendez can play in St. Paul and continue to develop.
  12. Drop the payroll to the minimum and have concerts after every game. Attendance would be best in the league and musicians are cheaper than baseball players. Who cares if the crowd arrives in the 8th inning. That will just make it more exciting when they win!
  13. It's his glove, not his bat that is the major problem. Only Bo Bichette consistently had fielding numbers worse than Lee.
  14. I think they have to put Festa and Prielipp in the bullpen if they want to have a competitive bullpen in 2027. Even if they sign free agent relievers, they'll give them one-year contracts. Then we're back to scratch again in 2027. They may not be able to move from bad to elite in a season without spending money on free agents, but I think they can move from bad to average. It's perfectly fine to have just an "average" bullpen next season. If they somehow overachieve and end up in the mix in the weak AL Central, they can add relievers at the deadline for not much. Average in the bullpen is a reachable goal for 2026 and a step toward competing in 2027. I would love to watch an 80-win Twins team in 2026 if it has a bunch of young talent getting better.
  15. I think Maki is a good coach. The Twins have done a good job with the pitching staff for several years. They have taken mediocre minor leaguers and made them more effective by adding velocity and spin. They appear to have "fixed" Taj Bradley in a couple months. Several of the relievers they traded performed worse for their new team.
  16. I'm pretty sure I've heard Morneau talking about coaching his kids. Torii Hunter would be a great fit as a first base coach - no real in-game responsibilities besides keeping things loose and gathering equipment.
  17. I think Brooks Lee will become a better hitter. He was the lowest rated SS defensively in 2025. His athleticism gives him a ceiling of below average at SS. He’s a 3B playing out of position.
  18. Here's what I would keep Pitchers--Abel, Adams, Bradley, Festa, Funderburk, Laweryson, López, Matthews, Ober, Ohl, Raya, Ryan, Sands, Topa, Woods Richardson (15 pitchers). Catchers--Jeffers, Pereda Infielders--Clemens, Keaschall, Lee, Lewis Outfielders--Buxton, Martin, Roden, Rodriguez, Wallner (11 position players) Here's what they are likely to add: Pitchers: Connor Prielipp, Andrew Morris, Kendry Rojas, CJ Culpepper (4) Position players: Gabriel Gonzalez, Hendry Mendez, Kalai Rosario, Kyler Fedko (4) There's 6 spots left for Schobel, Klein, Olivar, Cardenas, Hidalgo and any free agents they would want to sign They will want to add a SS, C, 1B and a couple relievers in free agency. I think there's a spot for Fedko and Rosario, but that does give them 9 outfielders on the 40-man without adding Walker Jenkins (who will debut next season). That's why Larnach and Outman both need to go. 12 outfielders, 6 infielders and 2 catchers on a 40-man roster all of 2026 would be malpractice. 8/9/3 would be better. At least one starting pitcher will get dealt. Ryan/Lopez/Woods Richardson/Ober/Bradley/Abel/Matthews is too many. I would try to find Bailey Ober a new team.
  19. I think they'll keep Topa. It will be hard to find a better reliever for $2M. They should dump Julien and Outman, there will be better talent available for nothing.
  20. Why would the Twins be the only team running up $500M in debt? The Pirates have all the same disadvantages as the Twins and they don't claim to have that much debt. Average MLB revenue is $430M per team. With a $140M payroll that leaves $250M to run operations even if they're 10% below league average in revenue. Are the Twins running more expensive operations than the Braves?
  21. Likely after he found out he was getting let go at the end of the season and had nothing left to lose
