  1. Wallner might have as much trade value as James Outman did last season.
  2. Definitely after the deadline. Who knows what the 40 man roster will look like on August 5.
  3. I wish he was hitting as well as his career numbers. He has been useless.
  4. Looking out for the profits of the billionaires is a lonely place these days. Often that ‘courage’ is rewarded by those same billionaires. I don’t know why anyone is worried about the Twins being able to cover a salary floor spending level. The increased revenue sharing will guarantee a profit.
  5. The Twins have a .486 win percentage, the Athletics is .427. There is not a huge difference in the amount of talent on these teams. I don’t understand the perspective that the Twins are entitled to winning these games. Launch angle tells the story of this game. The As were able to elevate a couple balls when needed and the Twins kept hitting the ball hard into the ground.
  6. Examples: Robbie Ray, Jack Flaherty, Luis Severino, Luis Castillo, Jorge Soler, Kenley Jansen, Antonio Senzatela, Tyler Mahle, Kyle Finnegan.
  7. If Tom Pohlad wants to spend cash on the 2026 team, that is his prerogative. There are salary dump players available. The organization cannot afford to spend talent on 2026. Teams with a budget like the Twins can’t afford to give away cheap talent.
  8. Royce provides the most value to a team when he plays 3B. If a different team wants him for 3B, they will likely offer something better than keeping him on the roster and playing him at 1B.
  9. They don’t have to trade Royce to clear his future salary. He doesn’t have a guaranteed contract. They can non-tender and he will be released.
  10. Standing pat is great if the goal is to finish with 78 wins this year and next year. The roster has too many DH types, not enough pitching and still no starting Shortstop. Kaelen Culpepper could fill SS, but he is currently injured and we should assume unavailable for 2026. I don’t see a way to buy a rental SS so I would sell at this deadline to build for 2027.
  11. We might also be at the beginning of a Josh Bell cold streak.
  12. Ryan Kreidler’s offense keeps plummeting. 420 OPS over his last 63 plate appearances. 2 hits, no walks and seven strikeouts over his last 21. A bounce back to his career OPS of 515 would be an encouraging improvement.
  13. The Twins should not be trading for another outfielder. The low hanging fruit for improving the roster is run prevention, not run scoring.
  14. Fedko got the first shot and struck out in half his at-bats. He will get another opportunity. Wallner is a DH. Defense matters.
  15. Roden was the highest performing outfielder in AAA. If the others want an opportunity they could try hitting better than Roden did in St Paul.
  16. “proving controversial enough to cause the RockHounds umpire to be ejected” I have never heard of an umpire getting ejected. Pretty sure that’s wrong.
