  1. Everything about how the Twins approach pitching indicates an extreme aversion to pitcher injuries. They keep the minor leaguers on strict pitch count and innings limits. They prefer innings eaters (Nolasco, Correia) to effective starters with past injuries (Garza, McCarthy) when signing free agents. They prefer their starting pitchers develop changeups, not sliders. The problem with this is it doesn't seem to matter. Pitchers still get injured and pitcher health is still unpredictable. I'm still trying to figure out how the focus on drafting college relievers fits into all of this. Maybe they think those guys have less mileage on their arm. Oakland seems to have a better approach - trade them when they get expensive and have a lot of cheap depth around.
  2. Bring back Denard Span for a year. He's a great stopgap option.
  3. Use a 5 man rotation but keep rotating Pino and Darnell through AAA when they need an extra starter. I don't want Hughes and Gibson to go too long between starts.
  4. I see Rochester, MN as a much more viable Midwest League location due to the closer proximity but they would need to build the stadium.
  5. My shorter list From Cedar Rapids to Fort Myers: Mitch Garver (C, 1B) - dude can hit. They can find room for him and Turner. Todd Van Steensel (RHR) From Fort Myers to New Britain: Levi Michael (2B/SS) after he comes off the DL. He's spent plenty of time in Ft Myers. Jose Berrios (RHS) - when May goes up From New Britain to Rochester: Danny Ortiz (OF) Kennys Vargas (1B) - though I'm not sure if they have room unless Colabello plays OF Sean Gilmartin (LHS) - when May goes up Lester Oliveros (RHR) From Rochester to the Twins: Trevor May (RHS) - when a spot opens up Michael Tonkin (RHR) - when a spot opens up in the bullpen Kris Johnson - when a spot opens up in the bullpen (Duensing or Thielbar)
  6. Leave him in AA but bump him up to AAA if they need an extra player for the pennant race. Same for anyone else in AA at this point in the season (Rosario, Meyer, May, Santana, Ortiz, etc). There is less than a month left in the minor league season. The only player on the 40 man roster who hasn't been with the Twins yet that merits a Sept callup is Josmil Pinto. Gardy would love having four catchers on the roster.
