    Solano is 3rd in plate appearances for the Twins. That's plenty of playing time for Miranda. Miranda (or Chris Williams) and Julien could share first base. Outfield of Larnach, Taylor and Kirilloff. Wallner at DH. That isn't going to be worse than what they're doing right now.

    If you want to bring up Miranda find a home for Solano and give him that role. I think they can go with the youth movement and still win the division. In fact, it might be their best chance to win the division. Larnach looks better than Kepler in the outfield. Wallner or Julien looks better than Buxton at DH. Sands and Winder can replace Lopez and Pagan.

    I have confidence Buxton will be out for the season within a week if they make him play the outfield. He currently can't stay healthy as a DH.

    Phillies Designate Dalton Guthrie For Assignment - MLB Trade Rumors I'd drop Garlick and add this guy to the 40 man roster as the righthanded AAA outfielder. Doesn't hurt that his dad was Mark Guthrie.

    This is a fair point. They are convinced that the problem last season was that they didn't have enough depth and they lost because they had too many injuries. The front office tried very hard this offseason to make sure they have plenty of depth (at least among position players). This is why Larnach is stuck in AAA while Kepler continues to demonstrate he is not worth starting. It's behind some of their "load management" giving players who are performing well days off to make sure nobody gets injured. It keeps some of their worst players in the lineup more than they deserve. Ultimately it speaks poorly of the front office that they're still trying to solve last season's problems. They are too slow to react to the current season. It takes them forever to finally cut loose underperforming players.

    Any word on whether people are considering Watkins as a future manager? He's well liked in the organization.

    Looks like the Saints saw some really bad pitching last week.

    Everyone looks good when you send them to AAA for a while. Larnach has a 1200 OPS in AAA versus a 700 OPS in the big leagues. If you aren't above a 1000 OPS in AAA you probably aren't ready for a promotion.

    Yes, and sometimes it takes getting beat up in the big leagues to listen to the coaches who tell you "that isn't going to work with better hitters"

    There are also a lot more Saints games. AAA has 150 games versus the American Association which only plays 100 games. That's 25 extra home dates to sell; 50% more tickets available.

    It's about location and working on that requires innings. He's probably due to go back to AAA to improve. That's not unusual for a rookie. MLB has a tendency to expose weaknesses quickly.

    Worst moment of the game was seeing Taylor get beaned. It got up under the helmet and he was clearly hurting.

    Mediocre. His fastball is fast but straight. He's not going to last more than one time through a lineup.

    I'd look at it differently. It shows that pitching at the AAA level is much worse than pitching in MLB. I agree that after a certain point (that Larnach has reached) you can't learn anything more in AAA. The stats also show why Larnach is ahead of Wallner in the pecking order - better defensively and offensively. Miranda has a .630 OPS for the Saints - he's not ready for a promotion.

    Yeah, I think they get 3 more years, especially if they win the pennant in this lousy division. That would take them to 10 seasons, consistent with how the Twins have always been. I don't think they need that long to figure out this management team is mediocre. Odds are strong the next management team will also be mediocre.

    Headrick has been pretty good in AAA. I think they would rather have him as the next man up for the rotation than have him helping in the bullpen.

    I can't wait to see the second guessing here when Balazovic is finally good 3 years and 5 organizations from now.

    I doubt Polanco has much trade value. Most teams have someone who can play 2B. His offense and defense are in gradual decline and he's currently an average player but second basemen tend to become unplayable overnight. You don't need to pay $10M for an average 30-year-old second baseman - Drury and Frazier each signed for $8M last year. They have other options (Farmer, Julien, Castro, Gordon, Martin) on the roster. I think they ride out the season with Polanco and decline the option for 2024.

    Yes. Larnach deserves a roster spot more than Kepler.

    There's a good chance Miranda can play outfield as well as Kyle Garlick (5 runs below average for a full season).
