  1. Okay, but what option is better? Play Jeffers every day at catcher and wear him out before the All-Star break? Cut Vazquez and promote Pat Winkel (currently batting .181 in AAA)? The team is playing bad but everyone who is playing well has been given consistent playing time. You can't change the lineup card and fix this team.
  2. I agree with this. If Castro was a plus defender at CF or SS he'd be the starter there for some team.
  3. Baseball Reference. The game logs are on the main player page and the splits are available there as well. Outside of Royce Lewis there is no obvious savior who will help this team start hitting again. They can mix and match below average platoon players as much as they want but that won't make them good.
  4. Which better players? Julien is struggling of late. Wallner and Kiriloff have been awful and bad (respectively). Larnach hasn't had a hit in 10 days. They don't have a catcher to replace Vazquez (Camargo is injured) and Jeffers is playing nearly every day. There is one player in AAA who looks interesting (Keirsey) but that's more for his glove than for his bat. You pick on Margot but he's 4-8 with a walk over his past 3 games played. Farmer is 3-9 with two doubles and 4 RBI over the same stretch. They're losing this past week but it isn't Farmer or Margot's fault.
  5. I'm starting to think that Kirilloff just isn't that great. He's a bat only player without that much bat. Over 800 PA in the majors and a WAR of 0.2. More in common with Scott Stahoviak than Kent Hrbek.
  6. Especially when hanging onto these players for multiple years means losing baseball games waiting for them to figure it out (if they ever do). There is only so much room on the roster for players who might be good in the future. At some point (and age 27 is usually a pretty good indicator) you have to go with the players who are performing right now.
  7. Would you trade Paddack for Rooker right now? I'm not sure I would.
  8. That's a great term for all of the nitpickers and second guessers sitting at home.
  9. Are you saying Brent Rooker wasn't worth drafting? That's a hot take considering his success the past two seasons.
  10. He returned Pagan and Paddack in trade, that's not "giving up on him". There are only 40 roster spots, they can't hang onto everyone forever. I suppose they could have traded for him when Oakland got him on waivers for nothing but there are dozens of other players who went through waivers unclaimed and then improved enough to help their team win. Adolis Garcia was let go by two different teams on waivers. Is "Did the Twins make a mistake by passing up Adolis Garcia on waivers?" the article tomorrow?
  11. If the problem is he is getting pitched around then he needs to learn how to take his walks. If he's expanding the zone to try to hit garbage that is a big problem. My guess is he's at exactly the right level for his development.
  12. And they brought up Boushley which makes some sense because they want a long reliever and Alcala is a short reliever. There is an open spot on the 40 man roster. They don't really need to open a spot to add anyone since Topa is eligible for the 60 man IL.
  13. Keirsey could be just as bad at the plate as Margot but would be a better defender. I'm okay with making him the CF when Buxton is injured (instead of calling up Martin) but there's not a good reason to keep him on the roster when Buxton is available.
  14. Amazon knows my exact street address. How would a VPN fool them?
  15. I get to watch one game a month and Apple decides no, you'd really rather watch the Rays play the Jays for two straight innings. You can break into a "perfect game" with 2 outs in the 9th, not in the 7th.
  16. This could easily be the last season for regional broadcasting of games.
  17. I have Prime. They don't show Twins games in-market.
  18. Nothing is more "on-brand" for the Twins than getting swept by the Yankees at home
  19. One of the handful of games I will watch on TV this season.
