    I thought this article was going to be about 4 players on other teams who could be non-tendered today but might help the Twins. That would be a much more interesting article.

    You cannot find players cheaper than Headrick or Henriquez. If they find someone better, they can release them at that moment without costing the team a dime. If Headrick spends the season in the minors the Twins pay him around $115,000. The only reason to cut any of these guys is you have someone else you like better for the roster spot. The Twins have open roster spots at the moment.

    I would not like Mateo instead of Castro but I'd be fine with adding him in addition to Castro.

    If you throw it in a hittable location, you won't walk many players.

    Unless they use Jax as a starter, in which case they definitely need to trade Paddack.

    That's a nice way to say he has inconsistent command of his fastball.

    They didn't throw Miranda away. They sent him to AAA and made him earn his way back. If you want to give scholarships to AAA players you will be mostly disappointed. They don't need an All-Star veteran, they need an adequate placeholder. Bringing back Carlos Santana and moving Miranda to 3B would work.

    Yes, if they have no catcher in the high minors on their 40-man roster that means their system is pretty weak for catchers (or that catcher isn't Rule 5 eligible yet). The Twins have Camargo, but they like him so much they nailed him to the bench when he came up to the majors. Catcher depth is a real problem in MLB.

    I don't want a bullpen full of 8 high fastball / low slider guys with the same release point. The article on Tonkin showed why an east-west look is valuable to have. A LHP can be a weapon if used correctly. If everyone has the same pitch mix, then there is no leverage.

    I wish the Twins had someone like that in the minors. That doesn't describe anyone above rookie ball.

    The current MLB depth chart has Brooks Lee as a starter and Eddie Julien, Michael Helman and Austin Martin as backups. They need another outfielder and another infielder. All of those guys should start the season in AAA.

    If your system doesn't have any catchers worth protecting in the high minors, then it's pretty weak for catchers. I don't know if they have anyone who projects as a big-league catcher.

    None of them is worth carrying as a backup catcher on an MLB roster in 2025.

    I hope it is LHRP, RHB outfielder, 3B (assuming Lewis to 2B, otherwise 2B).

    It is weak, that's why they didn't protect any of their catchers. They aren't worth protecting.

    If they move Jax to the rotation things could get thin quickly. Duran could be inconsistent again. Alcala and Sands could have a sophomore slump. Stewart and Topa might not pitch at all. I'd say they're just as likely to have the bullpen crater as they are to be at the top of the league.

    You didn't mention Topa, who has the potential to be pretty good if he's healthy. He has had more major league success than Varland, for example.

    They should absolutely trade Chris Paddack to help the major league roster.

    Lots to like, he's made huge progress in a short time.

    League average was a 680 OPS. Winokur was 21st in OPS among batters with 128 plate appearances. Rayne Doncon was 8th with an .838 OPS. Detroit prospects Max Clark and Kevin McGonigle were standouts among the 19 year olds.

    They must think Adams will be worth using in the bullpen next season. If he's on the roster he'll get some innings. He didn't make the recent Twins Daily top 30 prospect list. I'm way more interested in what other teams are getting rid of than what the Twins left exposed. The Guardians let Connor Gillispie go and he's as interesting as Adams..

    Right. I see no evidence that the program as described above is helping to develop pitchers or keep them healthy. I do not believe that affiliated games are uniquely stressful or that protecting pitchers from seeing batters is helpful to their development. They're baseball players, not fighter pilots.

    Vazquez can actually play baseball at an MLB caliber level. He's overpaid but he's not useless like Dobnak. Dobnak has no value for anyone. Who wants a washed-up pitcher who can only help you lose ballgames? If you give the Rockies a little more than $3M to take him they might accept. To get anyone to take Dobnak you'll have to give them something they think is more valuable than $3M.

    I wouldn't worry about that. He's cheap enough that he usually gets picked up on waivers and the new team picks up the salary.
