  1. Ober should have been able to get the 7-8-9 hitters out. Of course, Sands should have been able to get them out as well. The Twins were horrible at allowing inherited runners to score last year. It seems like Rocco's solution to that is to always have relievers start a clean inning. That's not a reasonable solution.
  2. Gotta go to Disneyland if you're seeing an Angels game. I added a Nationals game to a visit to Washington DC to see the Smithsonian museums. I saw a game at the Trop in St. Pete. Skip the game and grab a beer on the beach instead. Go on a road trip to see Field of Dreams and a Cedar Rapids Kernels game.
  3. I can't argue with this one. They need a rebuild but I don't know why Jeremy Zoll would be the guy to do that.
  4. As someone who also lives on the east side of the metro, I would not argue with that.
  5. The Wolves play in EXACTLY the same part of town as the Twins. You can see Target Center from home plate at Target Field. The Wolves play in the winter when it's ALWAYS dark out. If people think Minneapolis is safe for a Wolves game but not safe for a Twins game, well, then they're just a little dumb.
  6. You prefer Christian Vazquez and his 15% strikeout rate?
  7. Wallner's been playing great. His OBP is like 80-100 points higher than everyone else on the team and he has the most extra base hits. What the hell do you want from him?
  8. He's only 29. Gotta save his arm for his mid-30s. I believe they wanted to give Paddack and Woods-Richardson an extra day of rest. After all, they've pitched ....(looks up baseball reference)... two games each. Paddack has thrown over 7 innings, he's got to be gassed. They'll be getting plenty of reps after they gut this team at the trade deadline.
  9. Here's where the demographics don't help the team. 15% of the population of Minneapolis is made up of immigrants. Only 35% of the young residents are non-Hispanic white. It would be better for baseball attendance if those immigrants were mostly Dominicans, Puerto Ricans or Cubans instead of mostly Somali and Hmong. Your "5-10 miles from the stadium" rule is apt. It is one of the reasons the Tampa Bay Rays draw so poorly. Much of the area 5-10 miles from Tropicana Field is either Tampa Bay or the Gulf of Mexico.
  10. They've been waiting for Paddack to "turn things around" since they traded for him.
  11. I agree with this. More and more it seems like the event they're skipping is a Twins game. They're still going to the State Fair, a hockey or basketball game, a football game, and a concert.
  12. People seem to be able to afford tickets to the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA hockey, MLS, Gopher football and the WNBA. Concerts downtown are well attended. Twins tickets are often cheaper than those other entertainment options. Going to a Twins game can be cheaper than seeing a movie at the theater.
  13. He's waiting for the inevitable injury, then he'll slot into Bader's current role.
  14. The Saints are much better than the Twins at this.
  15. I think it's a massive overreaction and the Twin Cities are as safe as St Cloud. I will agree that there are people who say things like that. However, it doesn't explain why the Vikings, Wild and Wolves are still able to draw fans while the Twins are struggling.
  16. Martin is in AAA because of Bader. Are they down on him or is he playing everyday in AAA because they need depth? Keirsey has the 5th outfielder job because the job is to pinch run and play defense. It wouldn't help Martin at all to rot on the MLB bench.
  17. Paddack is in the rotation until Lopez returns. Zebby is auditioning for that spot.
  18. Larnach is selling out for breaking balls, which has allowed pitchers to get first-pitch fastballs down the middle past him. He needs to recognize those and punish the first pitch fastball when he gets it.
  19. Vazquez has reached base 3 times this year and been picked off twice. He's made an out in 95% of his plate appearances.
  20. I think the Twin Cities market is pretty saturated for sports. There are options for MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, WNBA, Big Ten NCAA, tons of D1 hockey, professional women's hockey and soccer as well as AAA baseball. MLB is the #3 sport in the US, and it might be the #4 sport in this market due to the popularity of hockey. If you're a casual baseball fan, you'll have more fun at a Saints game than a Twins game. That's a lot of competition for the same dollar and the Twins have been losing the competition.
  21. We're still dealing with way too small of sample sizes to say anyone "failed". Do you want to keep churning the roster every 10 games sending players up and down? Ryan Fitzgerald has the highest OPS in AAA - should the Twins bring him up? Julien has been able to get the barrel on the ball. His expected stats on baseball savant are tops on the team. Gasper is at the bottom, below Vazquez.
  22. I think they need to give him regular playing time now to help them make decisions on what to prioritize when they sell at the deadline. This is a rebuilding team, whether they know it or not.
  23. It is worth debating whether the best defensive alignment is Castro 2B, Lee 3B or Castro 3B, Lee 2B.
  24. Lee gets Gasper's roster spot and playing time from Miranda and Julien who both go to the bench. I'm fine with Miranda and/or Julien each being relegated to backup infielder who might get 150 PA for the rest of the year.
