  1. could that be a result of the Cards developing and graduating more pitchers? https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2019/4/6/18297284/mlb-st-louis-cardinals-pitching-player-development-mozeliak-goldschmidt-flaherty-mikolas An excerpt I found stunning, it’s worded poorly, so i’ll paraphrase. Of first round draft picks from2012-18 there are 14 current mlb rotation members. 3 of them were drafted and are currently playing for the Cardinals. 29 other teams were successful with 11 players over 6 years and the Cards got 3 right over the same period. You’re going to have more injuries to pitchers when you develop 9:1 over the rest of the league on a per team basis. A pitcher can only throw so many pitches before they get injured. Better to have more of them be mlb pitches. Get the kids up ASAP.
  2. happy birthday MM. 2 innings, 3 Ks and a dinger.
  3. excellent, I appreciate your cooperation
  4. Pineda looks gassed and I keep wondering when Perez is going to turn back into a pumpkin. None of the AAA reinforcements have given me much hope for the rotation. I’m ready to make a deal for one starter. 100% agreed on the bullpen.
  5. odds seem good that when we next see Kohl Stewart take the mound for the Twins, it’ll involve either an opener or stacker.
  6. Wins cause smiles? Clearly Smiles cause wins? The Twins from 1996 - 2001 would not imply that. Those guys smiled almost as much as they lost
  7. I wonder how long Bert has been injured and it took this long for it to be identified...
  8. thanks for the reminder on my stance. He certainly looks improved since moving to the rotation, compared to his bullpen stints. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
  9. Jeepers! Can’t Mejia finish this godawful thing?
  10. it sounds like Falvine are pretty keen on Magill...when Moya is ready to return I’d DFA Mejia to make room. I still think he can be a quality pitcher, but man he’s been struggling in conversion to the bullpen.
  11. i can’t watch/listen right now. Is this tongue in cheek? Curious how this is possible while being no-hit
  12. I can't speak for others, but personally, my bandwidth to participate in the game threads has reduced lately, especially with the earlier start to the home games. Young kids means I'm making dinner, bath and bed during the first 4-5 innings. and usually check in once or twice, but it's hard to catch up to a GT already in progress.
  13. Wow, who’d have predicted being on the winning side of a pitchers duel!?
  14. I think the important takeaway here is don’t listen to Twitter
  15. 2011-13 was real dark, but nothing like 1993-99 and culminating in 2001. There’s no comparison to Carl Pohlad actively campaigning to contract the team you love.
  16. My first game was in 1985 and Kirby Puckett hooked me. 1987 captured me for like. 2019, Eddie Rosario reminds me of Puckett back then. The charm, swagger, and swing at anything but it somehow works resonates.
  17. I got the impression that development of players had failed during Ryan’s tenure, hence his termination. It takes more than a couple off seasons to remake an organization and get the players developed and to the bigs. That being said, Falvey and Lavine still need to produce winning mlb teams.
  18. I don’t really get the outrage either, but I do feel compelled to note the many off days thus far. Fine to give Buck a breather, esp if it helps keep him on the field more/keeps the migraine down.
  19. Yankee opened in 2009. Both left and right are way shortDimensions: Left field: 318 feet; left-center: 399 feet; center field: 408 feet; right-center: 385 feet; right field: 314 feet.
  20. Yep, but the quiz above might prove the rules are a bit pliable http://m.mlb.com/glossary/rules/field-dimensions
