  1. I keep a charger in my car, brief case, and desk. If I’m not near one of those three objects and need to charge, I’m probably not by a source of power anyways.
  2. much like Manager, there are only 30 bench coach jobs in MLB. What if Rowson doesn’t accept the Marlins job and Shelton doesn’t leave? Someday never comes. Rowson took an elite job with a clear step up in responsibility in-line with potential for future manager opportunities. He absolutely made a good career move, no matter what happens with Shelton. Edit to add: no job opportunity comes without risk. The marlins have a difficult road in front of them, but that is why the job came open, and inherent in these types of job openings.
  3. Mr Rowson has been great for the Twins and I’m very happy for him. Bench coach is a great step for him and I’m still not sure what an offensive coordinator does, but innovation is good. The Twins FO has shown a keen eye for coaching talent, and I’m confident they’ll replace Rowson with another very good hitting coach.
  4. Tanner Swanson is the minor league catching coordinator. Garver worked with him extensively last offseason too. That man needs a promotion ASAP! https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/mitch-garver-wasnt-catching-strikes-so-he-changed-his-catching-stance/
  5. I have an iPhone 8. I have had good durability with my Apple notebook, iPads, and iPhones, as well as it all syncs seamlessly without need for intervention. I know there are more cutting edge or cheap options, but I’m lazy and don’t have to think about maintenance or third party sharing or messaging apps.
  6. I had to look up Garo, is this what you are talking about? http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos/0ap2000000146968/Garo-Yepremian-attempted-throw
  7. World Series game 2 on Fox right now. Nats v Stros
  8. What happened to Kurt Suzuki? He was a butcher with the Twins... Edit: there’s the catcher interference I expected from Suzuki!
  9. before, but the pitch had left left Cole’s hand
  10. I think Buxton has more value this offseason. Because he’s still in arbitration and has so much potential. Buxton was the same at the trade deadline as now. All it takes is one season for Buxton to change the narrative from injury prone to superstar. Kepler has been steady and reliable, but it feels like we’ve seen his peak. It’s dang good... but not like the promise of a healthy Buxton.
  11. yup, talent evaluation in all of its many forms is critical to developing internal players and identifying external candidates. I don’t think the Twins were bad at prospect evaluation, under TR/WS. I think lots of teams are very good talent evaluators. It’s tough to gain a competitive edge, when there are 25 teams all really good at talent evaluation. There are fewer teams really good at talent development and flaw fixing. Houston is one of the best at all 3.
  12. 100% agreed, you got the money, spend it on pitching... they don’t need a ton on position players, and a no bat all glove SS is cheap... plus you’ll still need the pitching depth at AAA. It would be great if that depth was Devin Smeltzer and not Andrew Albers.
  13. but you play half your games on the road. An advantage to Rochester playing throughout New England and Pensacola being FL/Gulf Coast is there are a lot of airports. St Paul to Minneapolis is a short drive. What about when both teams are on the road? That’s gotta be 25% of the season. Drive from Sioux Falls to Minneapolis to fly to wherever the Twins are.... yowsa
  14. there are many causes for the lack of parity, one of which is recruiting from other leagues. A draft would definitely help there, but equally scouting and analytics plays a significant role. In the US there are highschool and collegiate programs that put many players and scouts together. Less so O.U.S. There arent as many programs, and much less baseball infrastructure. The Twins built a Dominican academy to gain an edge. https://www.twincities.com/2019/01/30/twins-dominican-academy-has-first-graduating-class/ Throwing money at bad players from Latin America will sink a Have just as much as a Have Not.
  15. The owner of the Saints, include Bill Murray, but the chairman and majority stakeholder is Marvin Goldklang. He also has ownership stake in the New York Yankees and the Fort Myers Miracle. I would be surprised if Mr Goldklang wasn't at least a little interested in making the Saints affiliated. http://saintsbaseball.com/about/ownership
  16. the stand alone episodes bugged me too. Season 3 should have been about 8-10 episodes... but I suppose the deal was for a “full season” so it had to be 15 or whatever. I still enjoyed it.
  17. I’ve had scar tissue break up a few times. Hurts like the dickens for a day, but I’ve never had it happen during a baseball game. I did have scar tissue between ribs break up during a coughing fit. I thought I was going to die for a few minutes that felt like an hour.
  18. Sano has a rod inserted in his leg and nasty/infected cut on his foot. Maybe a healthy and non-snake-bitten offseason will get his mobility back in shape. I’d also go to arb with Cron and keep Lewis playing SS, 3rd and CF. Flexibility is key.
  19. Thanks for sharing. Interesting times ahead. It seems like the MLB and MiLB is heading towards some centralized management. Reducing 43 MiLB affiliates and reducing the draft by 5 rounds makes some sense if there’s more investment into the remaining players and teams. We had a good debate around this article over the summer. https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2019/6/3/18644512/mvp-machine-how-houston-astros-became-great-scouting Is some of this an attempt at building some parity among the major league teams? If there’s standardized structure for minor league development, then the biggest gaps between teams becomes on the talent and coaching side. We don’t talk about hierarchy.... it has a significant impact. Resources are scarce and it seems like the short seasons pull difficult to find trainers and evaluators in too many directions. At the end, I hope this means better pay for minor leaguers and more opportunities for unaffiliated leagues, players and teams to prosper too.
  20. The team was quoted in the article with an “appreciate the many years of service” type of response. I don’t think it’s funny that Greg Wilfahrt lost his job, no matter if he resigned or was fired, it’s serious business for him. The idea of me auditioning to be a replacement is downright hilarious.
  21. except for us Packer fans
