  1. It seems like the right thing to do. Quite a few of the games I went to last season, I participated in the Game Thread. Not paying as close attention to the game as I should have.
  2. agreed, alotta miles on that shoulder. if Bumgarner is getting more than Wheeler, then you might as well go big. Your in the neighborhood already
  3. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/09/top-34-free-agent-starters.html He was regard as such at the time. Not tippy top, but in the upper tiers
  4. 2014 Phil Hughes Threw 209 innings, struck out 186 and walked 16. 11.63 strike out to walk ratio. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2210967-twins-phil-hughes-sets-mlb-record-for-strikeout-to-walk-ratio-in-a-season Lance Lynn was poor for the Twins, however was fantastic for the Rangers https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2019/8/13/20803129/lance-lynn-texas-rangers-american-league-cy-young-leader Joe Mauer was an extension but still 184 mil. It is false that the Twins don’t sign high end free agents.
  5. I’m gen x, and I really identify with the OP. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xczb7GeQwdAI am doing the stupid dad jokes, backing into parking spots (when practical) and trying to figure out how to work in a Kyle Gibson debate with a coworker even though Gibson’s not a twin. I’m a bit despondent. What the hell am I going to do with myself all winter?
  6. Disney channel for Disney is very small potatoes. Disney makes it's money on licensing of characters... Cable TV revenue is pretty much all ESPN has. The timing of when you alienate cable companies matters, but they may have waited too long and now may risk getting direct subscribers. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why ESPN was held onto when they purchased ABC. I suppose wring the dollars out until it dies...
  7. I liked my original Xbox back in the day. With the next gen I will definitely give it a shot (if I get back in to the console market). I went back to PS2 because I liked the Sony exclusives better than Xbox. Outside of The Last of Us, I never play Sony exclusives. I’m a bit picky on my controller layout. In PS you rely on the software developers, not the controller firmware. That alone might be what gets me to switch back to Xbox. Thanks for the heads up. I hadn’t thought of the customization of the controller before. Good tip!
  8. What are your platform/consoles? I’ve seen a couple iPad users. I like my PS4, but not sure $500 or more for the next generation next year makes sense for me. I might pony up the bucks anyways... Has anyone tried Google Stadia? I like the price point, but I am highly suspect of google...
  9. with this, the playoff baseball was more “dead” than the regular season. The Twins built a team with good to great outfielders for a live ball carrying to the outfield. Injuries derailed this, but the infield was also built for the live ball. If more balls carry to the outfield, shifts can overcome your infield deficiencies. Fewer chances on infield plays can mitigate... With a potential dead ball for ‘20, infield defense could regain priority.
  10. I like the Room too! Similar is What Remains of Edith Finch. Fantastic game. On PS4 I’ve been playing Fortnite heavily. Lots of fun! I have been replaying The Last of Us, it’s probably my favorite game ever and I’m very excited for The Last of Us part 2 ETA May 2020.
  11. I grew up in the era of free agency, but still always had a stack of dubs in a rubber band tucked in my back pack ready for a trade. My uncle gave me my first lesson in economics on a terribly lopsided trade where I got a nobody with a flash in the pan.300 BA and he got my Cal Ripken rookie card, that he returned gift wrapped in my birthday card along with a fresh pack of 86 Topps. I sold the vast bulk of my collection with my most valuable cards (including Cal) in the late 90s only holding on to my sentimental Twins cards. In a Falvey interview, he said something to the effect that led me to believe he could have a stack of baseball cards on him right then and there.
  12. Ted definitely. We need a new Killer nick name.
  13. My first reaction w/ Pineda is let this play out. There won’t be a market for him w/ suspension and he can be a cheap fallback option. I didn’t think there would be a market for Gibson and here he is, signed w/ the Rangers for 3/30 in November. Looking back at Gibson, my instincts might not be very good. Pineda would be a very nice floor on a 4th or 5th starter. Might not be bad to lock that up while going after bigger fish that might not land until Feb or March.
  14. if other teams poach your coaches year after year, doesn’t that imply success year after year? I’m ok with that. If being a coach/manager factory is the cost of winning World Series after World Series I’m very ok with that. Look at Amazon https://www.wsj.com/articles/amazon-is-americas-ceo-factory-11574263777
  15. I too am thankful for all of you. We are very lucky to have such great authors, bloggers and owners, but it’s the posters that make this place so special for me. My bride is the chef in my house, excited for roasted turkey, twice baked potato casserole, butternut squash purée, spinach gratin, and fresh cranberries
  16. Man was I wrong on the Kyle Gibson free agency market! Good for Kyle!
  17. There are 30 MLB teams. Good teams don't change their manager "just because". Bad teams or badly managed teams have turnover, but once you can say you are an experienced MLB manager, there's a high likihood of being one again when the ax falls in about 3.5 years or so. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity - take it and don't look back. https://www.businessinsider.com/coaches-managers-tenure-nfl-mlb-nba-nhl-premier-league-2016-12
  18. Great for Derek! I couldn’t be happier for him. He absolutely made the right choice. Bad for the Twins
  19. If you are going to trade Sano, trade him while he's still considered a third baseman and has two years left. It would leave a massive gap in the lineup and I have my doubts that he's worth much of anything in the ways of major league starting pitching, and wouldn't trade hiim. Personally I think, if you can't sign Donaldson, Moustakas, or trade for Bryant - leave Sano at 3rd primarily, sign Brock Holt, and rotate Marwin, Miguel and Brock through the corner IFs.
  20. Isn’t the 90s cool with the millennials? Shouldn’t they have brought back the “m” with the pinstripes?
  21. Do you really “need” a thumb?
