  1. To bad he couldn't mature earlier and take the steps that would have kept him as a valuable Twin.
  2. In another thread there are numerous discussions about moving Lewis to make room for Lee. Putting Lewis in LF. I like him at 3B and hope he can stay there and give us the long term solution that this article discusses.
  3. Not impressed. Good luck to him, but if he is a BP savior our year is going bad.
  4. A nice positive column and the player that has impressed the most. This is the kind of emergence we expected from Kiriloff. He truly has the feeling of superstardom.
  5. We seem to specialize in signing injured pitchers who get paid for a year of healing - Pineda, Mahle, now DeScaflani. How much money was spent on them during their rehab years? How does that fit with the club budget? Let's get the young guys up - we have a solid four - the fifth is often just an inning eater. Develop our own arms - we have three that are really close and I do not want them set further down the list.
  6. Not ready to buy into the optimism of this article. I hope you are right, but all the reflections in TD are based on hope rather than fact. Let's see. I was content with Castro as backup and Martin behind him. Margot is a one year player if I understand his contract. Next year he will be too expensive so is it worth it to hold back on development of a player like Martin?
  7. I would not do it. Lee has real star potential. We can move Farmer, Castro, Santana, ,Kepler next year. There will be room for him. Give him some ABs this year and look at what he needs next year.
  8. These grades - all the evaluators - are premature. It is like me giving grades to my graduate students on the first day of class. Baseball is a funny sport that requires more patience than I have (although I like that) and the only real grade for the team is the end of the year. Is the Pohlad grade because we did not like what we heard? He told us the truth and no matter how we feel, it is his team. I am ready for the season!
  9. Canterino is number one for me. Varland will get called up but hopefully our starting pictures will not get injured right away. And I think our bullpen still might be overrated giving Canterino and Funderburk the inside track on call ups. I will be surprised to see Miranda really get a chance at the big league level this year. Just like him I think Larnach needs a lot of injuries before he gets another opportunity. I'm just not sure about Martin. Lot of ink is spilled over him, but I don't see the front office really showing faith in his ability.
  10. I like your note - I feel like we are putting too much expectation in the players you list. All are just as likely to burn out as rise. A player like Topa has a very short resume of success and non of the others have a career of high production or we would not have them. So let's see the game play out. I am afraid I do not have faith in Balazovic rising to the level I once expected. Dobnak was a nice story, but it is over. Winder has risen and fallen and I no longer expect much from him. The BP will be the turbulent aspect of the roster despite all the spring optimism.
  11. This is a stretch comparison. Solano was really good for us and I am surprised we did not keep him for another year. Severino has a lot to prove before this essay resonates with me.
  12. I see more trades ahead. It is interesting how a team can seem to fixate on one position. 2B has really become our gold standard. I do not have anything to say that knocks any of these players.
  13. I could go back and correct it. Not that you pointed this out but I kind of like it. That's what happens with voice recognition. I've spent the last month in the hospital and getting treated and so I'm depending on voice to do my communicating. Thanks for the laugh.
  14. It's an excellent reflection. It brings to mind how we made a big trade with Baltimore for a pitcher who was having a career year in the bullpen after a mediocre career? Before that. We got him in the career year ended. It's really so hard to predict bullpen's success
  15. I am a bullpen skeptic. I agree this could be a great pen but it could also fall apart. We have lots of vets who have a chance, when our track records with most of them say they could also be a bust. We picked up a lot of arms. Many of them we got and then DFA'd and nobody wanted the ones we do have failed so we still have them. What is the lesson for that? I will hope and I will wait, but don't put me down on the list that says this is one of the best bullpend in the majors until it proves it.
  16. I agree with this. Larnach is the player who has disappointed the most for me. Initially called up. He seemed like he had bypassed Kiriloff but the injuries and inconsistencies dimmed my hopes for him. Miranda also needs to show something, but probably for his next team since the twins have so many young infielders who potentially will pass him Kiriloff is my concern because I really expected him to be a star and he still could be but the wear and tear of all these injuries and both the minors and the majors that really pushed him back. Without that, Santana would not have been as attractive to the team.
  17. This is certainly not exciting. I understand that. Noah probably was not going to be on the twins in the next few years so he was expendable. But the player they got does not move the needle in a positive direction. I see the other comments and I agree Taylor was better. I'd rather see. Us use our current utility players like Castro and give room for a player like Austin to grow. So in summary, I think this stinks.
  18. Of course he could improve our base running. He could be amazing. What the question is, what is the toll that the base running would take on him?
  19. What a great topic. We need this topic. I love TD, but I was having a real hard time staying on board the last couple of months. All the speculation about. Should we trade for this guy or that guy as well as the payroll and are we paying enough? It's tough when you have a site like this and have to fill it with something every day. Is the same problem with 24-hour a day newest networks have - sometimes you have to reach deep to come up with a column. So thank you! Seth. I like the voice of reason.
  20. My hope for the 2024 season is that carmago demonstrate cities ready for the number two position. With earlier posts about the twins payroll and not wanting to go up and the future. Vasquez and Kepler are the two primary contracts that I can see being eliminated to keep the remainder of the team and the payroll rank. But there's only works if we have another acceptable catcher for the second position
  21. I just find it really hard to comment about teams. Spending. Baseball is such an anomaly. No spinning cap. No distribution of earnings. Just a lot of independent and extremely rich owners who can do whatever the hell they want. And the rest of us just sit back and watch the team and hope for the best. I'd love to see Lee come up just because I like seeing the young guys come up early and have a long career, but he doesn't resolve the major issues which really are in the outfield
  22. I am glad that we are getting to spring training. I can't speculate on a question. This article raises. I don't know and none of us will until we see the spring training development and they final products get ready for a season.
  23. Boras has so much influence on mlb I still don't think he'll lose from these high-enders, but baseball has to figure out how to really deal with him on occasionally. Occasionally I may have to let one of these stars just sit out of here. Boris isn't going to change as long as he succeeds in the end and the players will continue to sign up with them if they see here. Their teammates getting good strong contracts.
