    I like Ober for the pen. Martin and Larnach gone, Lewis and Ryan traded. If we are not contending - Lopez traded midseason. Sands dropped and maybe Nance too. This is the end of the season payroll, not the beginning of the new season.

    I am not as high on him as everybody else seems to be. So I'm wait and see.

    Trade them all - this year we held on to the FA group and we are going to suffer for it. Don't do it again.

    Let's be honest - with all the coaches it still comes down to talent. We did not have it.

    He demonstrated the fact that when a players if brought up they need to be given a number of games to develop in mlb. Coming up for ABs does not tell me anything about Sabato's potential and the same is true for players like Gonzales and Ross. It is not a good strategy to call them up just to polish the bench.

    Too generous - drop Ryan, Morris, Adams, Gomez a half a grade. Second half fades are just when we need them to be good. Part of the problem for the pen is overuse. But that is the current Baseball strategy. Orze should be an F. Rojas is a C - he was not good enough to be brought back up and we needed him.

    Martin is a D early spring surge and then a wasted place in the lineup. Time to move on. Lewis is a D- based on expectations - he and Wallner were supposed to be batting in the top half of the lineup all year. Gabriel, Sabato and Ross are incompletes - not enough chances to really prove themselves. Jenkins turn around shows how important it is to allow for consistent play over a longer period.

    That 10 is not good enough. Sorry, but Culpepper, Jenkins, Prielipp, Keaschall and Bradley are the core and we need more. At this point Lee is just about replacement level. Rojas and Abel have proven nothing. Morris faded - is he burned out for the year or longer?

    I would take back Duran and Varland any day. This era is about BP not SP.

    I look forward to the young players you listed. I have lost faith in Lewis and we need to ramp up 1B and C. I expect Ryan to go by trade deadline - I hope. I have no idea what Lopez will be like coming back from such a long absence. The BP was mediocre and used too much - but that is modern baseball. Gomez 56, Morris 63, Rogers 65, Adams 40, Funderburk 58. Banda 39 before injury, Orze 36. They worry about innings for SP (too much worry) and yet don't think that players warming up and pitching 1/3 of the games is too much. It is not just the batters faced - it is the heating up in the BP too. Gomez, Morris, Adams all showed fatigue by the end. Rogers showed that he is done. We need a better BP and better use. Hoffman was in 71 games between the Jays and Twins and ended on the IL.

    No - can we use them yes - but they are not our high leverage guys if we are going to succeed.

    Culpepper at 2B and Marek at SS - Clemens at 1B - improvement made.

    Hard to complain when we win a meaningless game, but here goes - Why not start Sabato instead of Bell. This is the end - Bell will be gone and we can see if Sabato can figure things out. Not a complaint, but an observation. Walker went 0 - 33 we thought he was not ready. Now he has his BA up to 224 and has been going great since the 0fer he has hit 395 with 4 HR! While Emma came up, hit that HR and looked like a star rising. So of course, his BA has been 136 since the great start. That is the challenge of small sample size.

    I see a consensus and will jump on the band Wagon - NO! steadily moving below 500 and pretending to be a wild card team was meaningless and we could all see it. They should have dipped into the minors much earlier and given us something really interesting.

    The pitching looks really weak for an all-star group. And we need more pitching.

    Ever since his injury the articles write about him as if we lost a key piece of the rotation. He has not excelled. He is still just a prospect. Like all prospects I hope he blows us away with his quality, but until then he is Canterino, Abel, and all the other young pitchers with arm problems. Wait and see.

    Nice to take the series against the AAAA Giants, but what about the draft?

    I don't care how much, I am concerned about the quality of the roster - FA, trade, prospects. Get rid of the deadwood and move on.

    Hats off to Keaschall who should have been the top WPA as he made two crucial and difficult catches to keep the RP from blowing it. No more complaining about his fielding. Experience is making a difference.
