  1. I remember a young man named Trevor Plouffe being questioned about his ability to play first Short and then questioned at third. One can hope Sano also figures it out defensively at this level. That was a pretty brutal play today though, cost us a game.
  2. Thanks for the post/update. I say Go ahead and Adopt him in the Adopt a Prospect forum and keep us updated... Lord knows I have already adopted my share!
  3. With all these extra inning games in the GCL lately, our prospects are getting extra live action practice in. I like it!
  4. (Warning: in the following post, I have quoted my own thoughts of what may have been actual words. These are not quotes you can find elsewhere, just in my brain) So Ryan was dismissed right after the All Star break which is when many trades come to fruition. TR was told a few weeks ago that he's leaving after this season, he sticks around a little while longer and two weeks before the deadline, out of the blue says "Well, if that's the case, I might as well go now!". Just two weeks to deadline! Reusse's reports that its all about PR! My thought: Who did Ryan try to trade that Pohlad said "no" about leading to Terry saying "Well, if that's the case, I might as well go now!" If Ryan was unable to make those big trades we are all hoping for, it makes no difference if Antony is in charge now or after the deadline. If TR had big trades brewing that could still happen if he sticks around, why leave everyone in the lurch?
  5. Thank you for this write up. While some are questioning your findings, this does support my "eye test". There is one exception: I did not think Dozier was THAT bad. My eye test does say, "he is not what we once thought he was". Dozier can make some great plays at times BUT all MLB players can. That's why we sit here watching them get paid...they are great just to make MLB.
  6. You did well but he was mine when he finally made it for good this year!
  7. Beresford has hit 284/340/331 (671) Career slash in the minors over 10 seasons. He hasn't stole 10+ bases since 2013, he takes 31 walks per season, 1-2 triples per year and 4 total home runs. He has a solid Batting average, doesn't strike out a ton and reportedly has solid defense. He has a 991 fpct at second (where he spends most of his time and is behind Polanco And Dozier) but hasn't spent significant time at SS since 2012. I have been an advocate in the past for him to get his cup of coffee but I just have to admit to myself that he seems to be Bernier 2.0 and not much more.
  8. Ok, I admit I set myself up for it so I will make the come back myself: "But those no hitters are always pitched against us" There, I said it before you did...
  9. Pace of the pitcher IS a major issue for fielders. Brad Radke was not known for striking people out, he was known for how he managed a game. No walks, keep the pace going, keep the defense involved. Hitters would try to throw him off by stepping out a lot to change that pace. Also, quality of pitching affects the morale of the team behind them. How many times have we seen no hitters preserved by tremendous defensive plays behind them. When a pitcher is cruising, the defense gets locked in with increased intensity to NOT be the guy that screws this thing up!
  10. thats five words
  11. Two words: Molly Likes Him
  12. Hayman is finding a lot more success in Elizabethton than he did in Cedar Rapids to start the year. He is hitting 244/273/415 in the rookie league with 4 doubles and a homer in 41 at bats. He has struck out 19 times which is in ABW range so that is a concern but it is also SSS so we will see if that is a long term issue. It is similar to his K rate at CR. In the GCL last year he struck out 1/3 of his at bats. Defensively Hayman has thrown out 3 of 9 would be base stealers. In Cedar Rapids he threw out 6 of 16. He has 5 passed balls, 4 in Etown, and both of his errors has been in Elizabethton for a .980 FPCT.
  13. Palacios' numbers seem to be creeping upward. He is now hitting 222/276/284. Defensively, he has a .952 FPCT with 14 errors in 586 innngs so the defense appears to be improving as well.
  14. Zander is now hitting 249/324/432 in 329 at bats. He leads CR with 52 RBI's and his 44 Runs is second to Arraez(45). Zanders 5 Triples and 10 home runs also lead the team but 20 doubles has him again in second place to Arraez(21). Unfortunately, he also leads the team with 81 Strike outs to 37 walks. His 5 stolen bases has him in a 3 way second place tie behind Sean Miller (6). Defensively, Zander has played all 743 innings at first with 11 errors for a .981 FPCT.
  15. Real nice to see DerekRodriguez putting things together lately. Hopefully this is a real start to something.
  16. With Plouffe and Sano ahead of him I could see trying him at other places like OF especially how our OF has gone the last several years but he needs time at 3rd too. On the other hand, I do not see the need to stash Schafer AND Mastro any more if they are the only reason to not move up Harrison. OR Promote Harrison and play him at third in Rochester! We have SOOOOO much organisation filler in Rochester. No one should be blocked.
  17. Wades also up a level from the beginning of the year but his numbers had come back to Earth some before the promotion.
  18. PS I would recommend eating at the brick oven pizza place in the market.
  19. My wife and I enjoy the NewBo district. The NewBo city market is a nice anchor for the area with several small shops across the street but there is also a warehouse next door that upon a deeper inspection turned out to be an artisan studio area with lots of artsy, industrial things to check out. I'm not sure what your looking for in a "gathering" space but there is a lawn you can have a picnic on as well as some picnic tables you can gather at over looking the field.
  20. MLB Trade Rumors has 3 Twins signings as best minor league signings http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/best-mlb-minor-league-signings.html
  21. Being the eternal optimist, I wanted to say 41 but the truth is, I really hope they make several trades and the team may nose dive by the end of the month. Current team? 500 or slightly above Team without E. Santana, Dozier, or Nunez? This thing could spiral quickly This thing is MORE of a crap shoot at this point than at the beginning of any year...
  22. Hey Wifey!! We care A Lot!! Thank you for the report!
  23. Ok, don't get me wrong. I have called for a change in leadership top to bottom, and I agree with dgwills comment above but maybe this guy is learning on the fly and can develop into a great manager while his players learn the MLB game themselves. I do not think he was the right hire just as Mike Tice should not have been hired as head coach. I did see improvement from Tice in his second and third year and maybe, Molitor can do the same: learn on the job. Maybe we are starting to see that with his use of guys now vs earlier in the year. If he is going to be sticking around, I REALLY hope to see growth from Molitor. The first change I would like to see from him is to try a line up for a few days in a row before changing it. Give people some time to adjust, you know?
  24. I see he has given up 14 hits in 14 innings but is off setting that with 15 K's to 2 BB's for a 1.14 WHIP. With that type of command at age 18, it will be fun to see where that fastball tops out at when he fully grows into his adult body.
  25. Still hitting 322/372/429... Not much has changed in a month. It's time to move him up. Promote Arraez to Fort Myers replacing Gordon Promote Gordon to Chatanooga replacing Reginatto Promote Reginatto to Rochester replacing Britton Cut Britton. It's time.
