  1. I wondered about these things to my self but as you said, minor league stats are more limited. The casual observation told me he was still clutch but then I saw the lower numbers of RBIs and was wondering aloud. All stats have an ability to deceive and some more than others. (See wins for pitchers)
  2. Hes a Molina. With third base taken by Sano, Gordon at SS, and Arraez at 2nd, Molina is just saving his knees until AA and his transition to his rightful place behind the dish. With his name, everyone knows he will be an all star reciever if he can just hit... Why shorten his carreer wasting his knees in the low minors?
  3. Correction, He made his first appearance today.
  4. Well, Ibarra came roaring back from the DL. With a 273/385/388 line, Ibarra was promoted to Fort Meyers. He has not made his first appearance there yet. Defensively, he has played only at 3rd base with a 936 fpct. He has committed 5 errors in 82 chances over 285 innings so he has some work to do there.
  5. Next year High A and possibly a mid season call up to AA. Two years from now he may get a September call up, the year after that, who knows? Maybe he joins Gordon in the middle of the Twins infield as Doziers replacement and Polanco is our Utility? A lot of things can happen in the next 2-3 years...
  6. Guzman has had a rough season. Approximately two weeks into the season (9 games played) he went on the DL for 2 Months. He spent about 2 weeks on a rehab assisgnment in the GCL (where he hit 200/282/200 in 11 games) before returning to Cedar Rapids. His return lasted only 3 weeks, did not go well, and he has now been demoted to Elizabethton. The whole idea of having him start in Cedar Rapids was an aggressive approach. Blame it on the injury, blame it on not really being prepared, it did not work. I still like the fact that he was aggressively placed in low A along with Arraez. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Combined for the year he is hitting 186/252/196 so the demotion is 100% understood. Just hope the kid recovers last years mojo before the year becomes a complete loss.
  7. I do not know how long they can keep this guy down in CR. He is TEARING IT UP lately. In his last 10 games he has 38 at bats, 19 hits, and no strike outs. On the season he is hitting 346/386/456 with only 41 strike outs in 379 at bats. He has 27 doubles, 3 triples and 3 Homers. Defensively he has committed 9 errors. He has played primarily 2B where he has committed 8 of those errors. He has had 317 total chances in 544 innings at second for a 975 fpct. He has also played 23 innings at 3rd and 9 innings in LF. He made his other error at 3rd.
  8. 18 doubles, 3 Triples, 22 Home runs, 58 RBI's 241/309/476 Triple slash 166 Strike outs, 38 Walks, 382 at bats. Defensively he has played solely in Left Field with a 962 FPCT, 5 errors and 6 outfield assists. In this lost season, I would really like to see ABW get a Sept. call up to learn a little about what he needs to work on but I think he needs to start next year in AAA and improve those strike outs. Along with the higher number of K's this year has been a decrease in RBI's. Last year his RBI/AB ratio was 21%, this year it is 15%. In plain terms, he is on pace to hit 30 fewer RBI's than last year if he ends up with the same number of at bats.
  9. Molina seems to have come into his own. His 301/377/373 slash is higher than I would have ever expected from him after his first three years against easier competition. He had a nice July hitting 338/400/468 for the month. August has also started well. He hit his first homer of the year, 2nd career, last Thursday then went on a 7 of 12 bender Friday through Monday despite starting only 2 of the 4 games. His home road splits are comparable but his lefty/righty splits are 316/188 RHP/LHP respectively. In the field he has played 3/4 of his time at 3rd but has 117 innings at SS as well. 5 of his 9 errors are at SS for a 912 fact there vs 967 at 3rd. All in all, I think we have a prospect developing. For a third baseman we would want more HR power but maybe he can play himself into a MI prospect or a utility man. He also is only 21 so he has plenty of time.
  10. Paulino is still in Rochester but is still one AB short of 100 since his April 6th promotion to AAA. He's hitting 232/310/283 for Rochester. Defensively he has thrown out 9 of 25 would be base stealers. He has not had an error at AAA but does have 3 passed balls in 274 innings behind the dish.
  11. Tovar is hitting 278 in his last 10 games and has raised his season slash to 252/298/339 since my last update. That doesnt seem like a huge improvement but it has his OPS back over 600 so there is that... Tovar is not a power hitter and has 15 homers in his last 9 years as a pro but he did get the 15h homer August 3rd of this year (his first of the year) Tovar also has 25 stolen bases on the year after swiping 30 last year. He has onlyy been caught 5 times vs 13 last year so he seems to have improved his abilities in that area. This is always an important stat to me as it does not show up in OPS/Slugging but is the equivelant of adding 25 doubles to his OPS.
  12. Kihle has now had 57 at bats in Fort Meyers. His 228/318/316 slash is nothing to write home about but on the season he is at 252/318/316. Interesting side note, his CR, FM, and combined OPS are all at 634. Kihle has a solid 983 fielding percentage. He committed his second error of the season in Fort Meyers where he has played mostly in Center Field. In Cedar Rapids, he was playing primarily Left. Interestingly enough, both errors have been in Left field.
  13. Cavaness has raised his season averages to 231/307/266 with Cedar Rapids. Thats up from 190/296/220 after his first stint with CR. In his last 10 games, he has hit 286 with 10 hits in 35 at bats with 8 runs and 3 RBIs. Some interesting splits show he is hitting 264 at home vs 208 on the road. He is hitting 288 in day games and 207 at night. He is hitting Leftys at a 306 pace and only 212 against right handers. In 475 innings, Cavaness has only 1 error. He has spent 2/3 of his time in Center but the error came in Left Field.
  14. I think Danny Santana has played out his string and Robbie Grossman returns next year as the fourth or fifth option. In my head, I see the Twins cutting ties(hopefully via trades) with DSan, Vargas or Park(I think Park stays), and Plouffe before Spring Training. I am also confident that Palka will leap frog ABW to the majors and if either is here in the Spring, it will be Palka.
  15. Mauer, Dozier, Polanco, Sano, Park, Escobar Garver, Centeno Buxton, Rosario, Kepler, Grossman Santana, Santiago, Gibson, Berrios, Mejia Light, Tonkin, Chargios, Pressley, May, Rogers, Hughes, Kintzler Polanco Dozier Mauer Sano Kepler Rosario Park Garver Buxton Closer: Hughes
  16. Longer then I expected but wonderful read. I hope he gets his chance to start in the Majors some day. And excels at it.
  17. Released. See above.
  18. Looking at their defensive stats does not support my previous comment and both of them have played primarily 2nd though Guzman is listed as a SS and Arraez is 2nd base. Guzman is 21 Arraez is 19
  19. I also wonder why not Arraez but that is great for Guzman. He began the year on the DL and now has earned that promotion. Great news for Guzman! My guess would be Arraez is still so young vs league and he must have some defensive issues to work out. CR with Jake Mauer is a great place to be to work them out.
  20. The Minnesota Twins have caught up to Arizona and are now only half a game behind the Reds and the Rays. While fun to watch homers and winning baseball, our draft stock is dropping, and, Sorry Common Man, they will not be as Epically bad as you hoped. The question now is how far will they climb?
  21. With 8 innings I would think Kohl Stewart worthy of pitcher of the day...
  22. On the year Santiago is immediately the team leader among starters in Strike outs and wins and second on the team in ERA, K/9 and innings pitched. I am immensely overjoyed at our upgrade in Starting Pitching with his acquisition
  23. It's good that he is continuing to get the opportunity to learn base stealing. Have we seen improvement in this category as the year has progressed?
