  1. Kihle has put up solid numbers since returning from the DL. In 37 AB he's hitting 297/395/351 SSS for sure but very similar OBP and OPS as last year. Not a guy showing a lot of power but a very solid contributer. He has scored 11 runs to go with his 11 hits...
  2. Unfortunately, this is not his first... http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140625&content_id=81539076&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t492
  3. In the last couple of weeks LaMonte Wade's stats have "slid" to 331/429/483 in 118 at bats. He has walked 22 times to 17 strike outs showing some good patience at the plate. in 21 games in LF he has 1 error and 3 assists, in 10 games in CF he has one assist and no errors. He has been caught Stealing twice in 5 attempts. I'm hoping to see him get his shot at Fort Meyers shortly after the draft.
  4. Sean is batting 181/198/248 at two levels. In 16 AB at Fort Meyers, he hit 125/125/125 which did not help his Cedar Rapids line 191/211/270. Though listed as a shortstop he has spent most of his time at 3B. 3 of his 4 games at Fort Meyers were at Short and the other was at 2B.
  5. Molina is batting 256/347/256 in 13 games with 43 at bats. He has spent parts of 4 games at SS, the rest at 3B. Nothing to get excited about here, just move along...
  6. Nunez (ok, I'll admit that wasn't a serious answer)
  7. C- Garver/Murphy (Turner a defensive specialist in AAA waiting for an injury) 3B Sano/Beresford SS Gordon/Beresford 2B Polanco/Beresford 1B Mauer/Park LF Kepler/Rosario CF Buxton/Rosario RF Arcia/Walker I have to think more on pitchers
  8. Because Kepler has a better arm than our Rosario/Arcia platoon in Left?
  9. AJ is your Twins daily MiLB player of the week. Seth wrote a nice post about his week in the minor league section of TD. Impressive fact: 16 of his 34 hits are for extra bases. Did I mention he's a catcher?
  10. Open for adoption still: Reynaldo Rodriguez-Rochester Hitter ANY AA Pitchers ANY A+ Hitters Jorge, Gonsalves, Rosario, Fernandez, Bard, Gilbert, Landa, Hildenberg, Peterson, Curtiss - Fort Meyers Pitchers ANY A- Pitcher Any EST/DSL players without a page or not claimed yet unless Bob Sacramento intends to get ALL of them...
  11. Like it or not, that in itself is a role. if he was not filling that role someone else would have. You have to have someone eating those wasted innings. Regardless his role, making the playoffs last year would have been nice but not if it was at the expense of long term. If he had turned into a Pressly then everyone would approve but he didn't in a year we were not aiming for the playoffs. THIS is the year we wanted a push and this is the year to be upset about. Last year we over achieved, this year is under achievement. Blaming the GM for players under performing and not panning out is not a fair evaluation. Blaming a GM for hiring the coaches over seeing under performance is fair. Something is amiss and change on and off the field needs to happen but really? All this over Graham? Talk to me if he turns into Gilmartin and then blame the coaches for that, not the GM.
  12. Maximilian (Max) Kepler Born Feb. 10, 1993 Acquired: Undrafted Free Agent out of Germany, July 11, 2009 318/410/520 at High A and AA last year. was given 7 MLB at bats last year and has 12 more this year. Scouts like Keplers approach at the plate and plate discipline. For the past two seasons he has taken more walks than strike outs which is a breath of fresh air when it comes to Twins prospects. He hjas the size that suggests some day he will develop more power but we have heard the same about a certain famous Minnesota native as he came up. Max is considered fast for his size and is still listed as a CF though most expect him to end up elsewhere. His arm is strong and he stole 19 bases last year. There is a lot of promise but there is still a lot of development needed with this kid. I hope the Twins (And their fans) will be patient and let hiim develop most of the year in the minors. I also hope he is up in August as part of a long term youth movement in one of the corner outfield spots.
  13. I love all of this. In the mean time I would consider firing Molly. It appears from the outside like he and Ryan are not on the same page (Meyer, Polanco, Kepler fiascos) Offer Dougie baseball the interim slot and the right to move some pieces around. If he can get significant improvement from the pieces, you have the future manager, if not, you look outside the organization this off season. I would also consider Gibson for a trade and I still like May as a starter. If Hughes is still around, he's in the bullpen unless he had an incredible turn around himself.
  14. AB is off to a slow start hitting 221/287/394 for a lowly (by his standards especially) 681 OPS. He has 4 doubles and 4 HRs in 104 at bats. He has struck out 49 times. The concerns seem well founded. TURN THIS THING AROUND AB!! PROVE THE CRITICS WRONG!!
  15. OF- Rochester Red Wings Born Oct. 18, 1991 Milwaukee Acquired 3rd Round 2012 from Jacksonville University Led Rookie League in 2012 with 14 HR Led Midwest League in 2013 in HR, RBI, and Total Bases, 2nd in Slugging, and Runs. 2014 Florida State League All Star Game MVP and HR derby winner. Led the League in HR, RBI, And total bases. 2015 Led the Southern League in HR with 31 and RBI and again won the HR derby this time at AA 239/309/498 in 2015 with 31 2B and 31 HR. AB Walker is known for his ability to come up with the big hits in the clutch moments. His 106 RBI's last year at AA were enhanced by 18 more in the Arizona Fall League where he hit 5 more home runs against top prospects across baseball. His 34.8 K rate has everyone at least a little concerned but the fact that he gets the job done cannot be ignored. He has been added to the 40 man roster with dreams of a september call up.
  16. AJ had a great Friday the 13th going 5 for 5 plus a walk, 2 home runs, 5 RBI and 5 Runs. He is our TD MiLB hitter of the day. His hitting numbers have taken off since my last update. 299/402/533 (935 OPS!! That's something to get excited about) He still leads CR with 20 RBI and is tied for the lead in runs with17. LaMonte Wade has shown he deserves a promotion soon, I would argue that Murray has also.
  17. nice perspective and all of these I agree with. Unfortunately, I don't think you left anything out...
  18. Born March 5 1989 Utility player mostly playing 3rd but getting significant time at 2B, LF, and RF. Acquired: 2011 Draft, 33rd Round 2015 Slash at Chatanooga was 254/352/333 with 16 stolen bases A good fielder and solid base runner, Wickens is one in a long list of Utility role type guys in the Twins organization. If he is to eventually make the big leagues, he is going to have to do something to make himself stick out more than the others in the same mold around him. I don't see it and have never been a big Wickens guy but he keeps moving up the ladder so what do I know.
  19. Tovar has 108 at bats and is hitting 222/280/250 so far this year. It will take more than that to replace Nunez...
  20. WIlfredo Tovar was born Aug. 11, 1991 in Venezuela. He has played primarily SS throughout his career but he has been playing lots of 2B and 3B this year in Rochester. SIgned as an international Free Agent by the Mets in 2007, Tovar was signed by the Twins as a minor league free agent in December . Tovar has 18 MLB at bats in 9 games in '13 and '14 but did not get a chance last year which is probably why he decided to move to a new club. Last year he batted 283/327/356 in the PCL and was rated as the best 2nd Baseman in the league by baseball america which was odd for a guy that primarily played short. Last year he stole 30 bases so he has some speed on the base paths. He's not a future all star but he could be a future utility defensive/base running replacement with a light bat.
  21. Starting some AAA Hitting prospect pages. I am not doing one for Buxton or Vargas as they have used up Rookie Status I am not doing one for Reynaldo Rodriguez...Cant make myself do it for TWO 29 year olds Meneses is on the DL so No page for him...yet sdbuhr claimed Beresford for life so Im leaving him off ANYONE WANTING KEPLER OR WALKER NEEDS TO BEAT ME TO IT TONIGHT Tovar then Wickens up soon
  22. Buchanan "Buck" Britton Born May 16, 1986 Panorama City California Drafted 35th Round 2008 by Baltimore Orioles out of Lubbock Christian University Position-Super Utility Aquired: Minor League Free Agent Dec. 2015. Last year Buck was a Dodger minor league free agent signee and spent the year at OKC batting 262/311/374 in 384 at bats. A singles hitter, Britton gives his team defensive flexibility with limited offense. He has averaged all of 5 stolen bases per year so there is not a ton of speed either. Britton is not much of a prospect but he is still playing and still has rookie eligibility so I am honoring him with a prospect page. Buck has played every position in the minors except CF and Catcher (He has a 3.00 ERA in 3 career innings pitched) At age 29 it is doubtful he will ever make a major league team out of Spring Training or be a big contributer at the MLB level but knowing the Twins in Sept. lately, he may get a cup of coffee. So There you are...GO GET EM BUCK! This year he is hitting 250/279/340
  23. Carlos Paulino 26, Born Sept. 24, 1989 Catcher-Rochester Red Wings Signed by the Marlins as an 18 yr old international free agent Traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2011 Signed as a Minor League free agent Dec. 2014 by the Twins 2014 Scouting report from Baseball Prospectus dsecribed him as a "standout defender" with "soft hands" and good at framing a pitch. Hes not much of a hitter but could make a big league appearance someday because of his defense. His time split between Rochester and Chatanooga last year produced a triple slash of 262/328/337. So far this year in 38 at bats he is hitting 211/318/263 with 5 walks and 6 strike outs.
  24. A triple slash line of 121/231/121 has earned him a trip back to Fort Meyers and EST.
  25. I made the statement a few years ago: Losing team, get better players Still losing, get better Manager Still losing change GM. We have followed this path. This was my line of thinking in defending Ryan previously and Last year the club seemed to be coming together so I advocated giving Ryan another year. At this point, I'm ready to see Ryan step aside and really hope the club is looking at filling that role now to be hired at the end of the season. Someone on a separate thread discussed why it's not the right time to change GM in the middle of the season and I remember being convinced they were right but now I forget Why I was convinced. Maybe now is a good time to change and audition one of the internal guys (Like Torch got with the wild) give him the job of firing Molly and appointing an interim Manager, see how he handles the draft, international signings, and trade deadline and if he sucks at it, quickly swoop in and hire that outside guy you have been secretly watching for 4-5 months when the season ends. He can hire the new permanent manager. I don't get fed up with what's going on easily. It's baseball and baseball takes patience, but Mollie is failing us and TR hired him. That is on him. I'm ready to move on.
