  1. Way past his playing career, he was the neighbor of a family friend, and he let me interview him for a school project I did about athletes giving back. It turned into a nearly decade long mentorship and friendship with him and his family. What a gem of a human being
  2. It’s been all hands on deck for about a week, but at least he’s figuring it out now…we def need some help so go twins and go nationals!
  3. barring an unexpected turnaround, this team is just watching their chances go up in smoke, with a golden opportunity to recontrol their own destiny against the 2nd worst team in baseball...this is unreal. and just disgusting to watch
  4. I said last week that this week would define their season and potential post season chances..this was not the definition that we had in mind 😬 they better sweep the marlins and then we revisit the possibility of playoffs. Otherwise, this is putrid and I’m done til they can Rocco and the entire coaching staff. Everything has just fallen off a Cliff. I get they are tired, but so is every team
  5. I’m holding out hope that they’ll sneak in, but man they really didn’t have to make it this interesting
  6. I hate to be this guy, but if you’re looking to avoid the Yankees til the ALCS (provided we get in as the 6), we should be rooting for Cleveland to finish as the 2. They don’t reseed after each round like football; therefore, if we are the 6, we take out Houston, then we play the 2, not the 1. If we get the 5 seed and beat Baltimore, we’d go to NYY. let’s just get in first
  7. Big W today. Now they gotta build on it since the season is determined by this week. One game at a time let’s go
  8. I love this team as much as yall do, but I have to say (and have been saying): this team doesnt seem worthy of a playoff spot. Tomorrow's game becomes a must win, and then they have a gauntlet between Cleveland and Boston. Effectively, the season will be decided this coming week, whether we want to admit it or not
  9. The question at this point is, will the team be able to squeak into the playoffs this year with how their distressed assets have been playing as of late? And will history teach them anything for the next offseason?
  10. That’s my two cents. But Royce needs to stop crying and show up since he’s all the team has left for a spark
  11. I say this as a registered dietitian, certified strength and conditioning specialist, and someone who played baseball into college: it’s a lot more physically demanding than you’d expect. Everything is about explosive power and repetition, which takes a major toll. ie: I’m younger than some players on the roster and in really good shape (my profession requires it). Went to twins fantasy camp for a week. After day 1, my groin and hamstrings and IT bands and calves were shot, from taking a few swings and playing a few innings in the field. No BP. No lifts. Nothing. I could tolerate it and work through it, and I had access to said training staff and I’m qualified to be their dietitian, so my recovery methods are great. But I did a fraction of what they’d do on a daily basis, and they do it for 8 months a year. baseball will wreck you and remind you have muscles you forget you even had. So the grind is very real. Not to defend them, but it’s certainly not easy.
  12. theres zero spark with this team - like no one in the clubhouse can get the team HYPED and ready to go to war. where's the intensity? Rocco sits around like a company's IT guy and puts in a new experimental iteration and thinks "how will this go today?" and hopes it pays off, and lately, it's been snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Don't get too comfortable, since even .500 baseball the rest of the way could blow this playoff run. This team needs to WAKE UP. I still dont understand why ESPN has our playoff odds consistently 10% above the Royals, but I digress...
  13. The twins need to be thanking their lucky stars that as inept as they’ve been, the entire rest of the American League has been right there with them (other than Detroit), or they’d have completely played themselves out of a wild card spot right now. They have to start to get it together or they’re going to have an embarrassing collapse ala 2007 Mets
  14. I went to the game last night (yay for living in Tampa) and I’m grateful we got the W, but wow was that much more stress than it needed to be: My observations: SWR did not have it from the second batter onward . Everyone was knocking him all over the park, and he was just leaving everything over the plate and getting shellacked. the pen still scares me. When the 8th began, I turned to my wife and said “they need at least one insurance run” and thankfully Lee hit his bomb, which was needed. But sands in the 8th made me nervous. That rays lineup was not their A team or B team. So manifesting festa shows up and shows out tonight, or the twins could be in for some tough sledding. Also hoping Boston continues their slide ans LC/CLE beat each other up
  15. This type of post, while true, feels like it’s just tempting the baseball gods to have the Red Sox and tigers go on a heater and the twins fall out of the picture with their mediocre play…or barely make it by the skin of their teeth
