    The team shouldn't make decisions for no other reason than padding a player's personal stats. It matters if the team wins. Which pitcher gets that W on his baseball card is meaningless.

    Fans are pissed. With 77,000 votes so far, the finale has an imdb rating of 4.8. Prior to season 8, the lowest rating of any episode was 8.5. I was pretty disappointed with most of the last season. Something changed starting with season 7, and continued to get worse. I don't know if it was getting further and further past the source material, or if it was rushed, or if writers were changed, or if people just got burned out.

    The Twins will regress some on offense. But, I don't know how anyone can look at their lineups side by side and think Cleveland has any realistic chance of out hitting the Twins the rest of the way.

    He didn't reach free agency though. The Twins claimed him off waivers. Had he gone unclaimed instead, he'd then have become a free agent, and would no longer be arbitration eligible.

    I don't buy that. It wasn't "broken" in Houston, but they went and added Verlander anyways. Worked out pretty well. I'd say if a team gets destroyed by adding an unfamiliar face, then they weren't mentally tough enough to win a title anyway.

    PFT is reporting that the Vikings have offered Rudolph a 5 year extension that would make him one of the highest paid TE's in the league, and Rudolph turned it down. Bizarre.

    I don't know at what date on the calendar you can start to believe. But I'll echo what others have suggested, this team just feels real to me. It's one of those things you can't put your finger on, but you know it when you see it.

    I'm only presenting an argument against a specific criticism; that he wasn't good in clutch situations. Factually, there isn't much merit in that claim. Fans that watch him can see things like pace, body language, leadership, clubhouse presence, etc, sure. Outside of those type of things, there isn't much that happens on the field that isn't captured by the numbers.

    The extent of his postseason experience in NY was 8.1 innings. He had one awful appearance where he gave up 4 earned runs in 1/3 of an inning. He only gave up 1 ER over the other 8 innings combined. The one bad appearance happened and it counts, but we are talking about a tiny sample size, and a bunch of appearances where he was good, spoiled by one awful blow up. I'm not saying the signing can't be criticized. There were legitimate concerns about his ability to hold up to the work load he'd had, but overall the numbers don't show someone who struggled in important situations.

    According to Wikipedia, they have overruled previous precedent 37 times in their history. That works out to about once every seven years, perhaps not as uncommon as you think.

    I think he's one of those guys that has a wide margin, depending on if teams think he can stick at SS. If a team is convinced he can stick, I could see that bat going top 10. I'd love if the Twins got him at 13... if they think he can stay at SS.

    Kepler hasn't been leading off vs lefies, no reason to assume anything has changed.

    Did you already forget seeing Cron trying to rumble home at 2 mph early in the year? I'll never be able to get it out of my head, as I didn't know it was possible for an able bodied human to run that slow. Sano will never be the slowest guy on a team that rosters CJ Cron.

    NY fans expect perfection. A quick glance at his splits during his time in NY show that Reed excelled when "most needed". Excellent numbers in late & close, and high leverage situations.

    It seems a bit contradictory to me to say that he's the best player to help a contending team right now, while also saying he'd clear waivers if DFA'd. By definition, wouldn't he be claimed by a contender if he's good enough to help a contender win games?

    Taylor Swift? Really? I know very well that art is subjective, and don't typically poke fun at what speaks to people, but this is just too hard to ignore.

    Only ERA puts them in even the same ballpark. Every other measure suggests that Parker has been much more lucky than good.

    They aren't going to give up a draft pick now that they only have to wait 19 more days.

    Maybe, but then again, some posters (not me) predicted this when we signed him, due to the high amount of use he'd had prior to that.
