    They have nothing to do with each other. It was just a thought about the good that could be done with that type of money. Substitute homeless veterans with whatever else you'd like the money spent on, including lower taxes. As others have said, this is how much one bad apple can cost taxpayers. It's a staggering amount of money.

    $20 million dollars. Plus the cost of the trial. That is what the latest case of police misconduct cost the taxpayers. I wonder how many homeless veterans we could get back on their feet for $20 million?

    You aren't torn then. Suggesting that non violent prisoners get a vote isn't new or controversial. The controversy is that Bernie thinks that all prisoners, specifically including the worst of the worst, should get a vote. I love Bernie, but he's 100% wrong here. Some crimes are heinous enough to lose that right forever.

    They shouldn't overcompensate for their misjudgment of one player by doubting their judgment of other players. They could very well be wrong about Reed. But, if their assessment is that he's not a major league pitcher right now, then they should go with that.

    Adrianza isn't a better option than a slumping Rosario. And Rosario hits lefties just fine.

    The FO wants to win games, and they want to develop talent. So, what is your theory on why the FO hasn't given Reed a shot? I'd say it's more likely that they just don't think he's good enough. You can't just use milb stats. If it were that easy, we wouldn't need FO people. The owner could just hire a 12 year old to promote the players with the best stats.

    He's being paid $8 million. That is 4th or 5th starter money for a FA.

    Cave went down because he has options. No matter how much a person liked or disliked the Marwin signing, nobody is going to sign someone to a 2 year deal, then cut them after 25 games.

    .670 isn't going to be good enough, IMO. We should be able to develop a utility player that can OPS .670. As a matter of fact, we developed one that can OPS .730, and we let him go to Detroit. For $10.5M per year, he'd better at least be able to top Goodrum's production.

    I don't care who says it, or how good their reputation is. Without substantiation of some kind, or at least a willingness to make a first hand claim, rather than vague third hand suggestions, it's meaningless gossip to me.

    I think accusations as strong as "she should be disbarred" require some substantiation.

    Then he shouldn't say anything at all. There is something greasy feeling when someone says something like, "this person has done terrible things, but I can't say what they've done or how I know. You just have to trust me that they've done terrible things." If you can't say what happened, then don't even imply that something did. It's not fair.

    Thanks for that. But, I can't help but notice this passage: "What the stabilizing point means is that a player is likely to repeat his performance if his skills remain exactly the same. It is not a predictor of future performance. A player who changes his approach or gains/loses skills renders the previous sample size data to be somewhat meaningless." So, the lower LD% could be because it hasn't stabilized yet. But, it could also be because his skills have declined. Do we want to give him 800 AB's at this level of performance to find out which one it is?

    Do you have a link for that? I'm skeptical that it would take that many balls in play for ld% to stabilize.

    Sports are not important enough for me to cheer for someone who will intentionally risk someone's safety, just because they are on "my team". It's one thing to play hard in sports, and if injuries happen, they happen. It's another to intentionally throw at someone. And it's not a single incident. This is what he feels is an appropriate response to celebrating a HR. Throwing at someone is not "bravado", it's cowardice.

    If the information you have is credible then you should be able to post it here. If you'll only do it privately, then it's pretty lame to hit and run with stuff like this.

    Part (but not all) of that babip drop is because his line drive % is way down, and his groundball % is way up.

    Enlow is reaching quite a bit here. Follow the hitter all the way to the dugout? In what way is that analogous to flipping a bat? I definitely will not be rooting for a pitcher who says he would try to hit a batter on purpose. I hope we never see Enlow in a Twins uniform.
