  1. 12 punts in the first half. This is a hideous football game.
  2. Well Levi is the one saying that the Vikings didn't take them serious. And that is what concerns me, not so much the margin. Also, it's not just "a single margin of victory". They've played 3 teams that are in the awful to below average range (SF, BUF, ARI). And, all 3 at home. They haven't blown out any of those 3 teams. In fact, one of them blew out the Vikings. I'd like to see them dominate the score board against these types of teams, more frequently than they have, especially at home.
  3. What happened to KAT? He used to be good.
  4. It was a 3 point game 5 minutes into the third quarter. And which regulars did they rest? Harris played because Sendejo and Hughes were hurt. Look, a win is a win. There are no bad wins in the NFL. But I'm not impressed by a 10 point win at home to a shockingly awful team (The Broncos are mediocre at best). And if your theory is that they didn't take them seriously, then I am REALLY concerned, as that has been Zimmer's Achilles heel as far as I'm concerned. That and his clock management.
  5. That doesn't make it any less concerning to me. You'd think after the Buffalo debacle, they'd actually take their opponents seriously. I think great teams keep their foot on the accelerator and blow out awful teams. They'll lose another game that they shouldn't if this is truly their attitude.
  6. When a first baseman can carry a Drew Butera like bat, and still carve out a long MLB career, then I'll believe that elite first base defense is much more valuable than average first base defense.
  7. The win over Arizona suddenly doesn't look too impressive after seeing what Denver is doing to them right now.
  8. Are you really saying that scholarships are never honored when injury ends a college football career? Are you sure about that?
  9. They all signed up voluntarily. I agree the system is exploitative. It should be reformed. You'll get no argument from me on that. But right now, this is the system we have, and every one of them signed up voluntarily. Not one of them was forced against their will to join college football. And you won't find one post here from me ripping a Gophers player. Precisely because they aren't being paid. Every ounce of my criticism has been directed at the guy who is being paid millions. The guy paid millions to find, develop, and coach these unpaid players is the one that will get 100% of my criticism.
  10. Then why are the most successful teams over the last 5 or 6 years the ones most dependent on heavy use of analytics?
  11. Perhaps they thought they were serious. But again, without a player opt out, it wasn't. Darvish wanted a player opt out, and someone was going to give him one.
  12. Darvish wasn't going to sign without a player opt out. Any offer that didn't include one wasn't particularly close. Aside from that, $26 million is a pretty huge difference.
  13. Tyler Austin had 0 errors, league average range factor, and exactly neutral defensive runs saved. It's fair to argue that he's not a defensive asset over there. But calling him a butcher is certainly not based on any factual data.
  14. I think high 3's are more likely, as that's what he put up in the first half with similar k and bb numbers.
  15. Rogers second half appears mostly babip and (lack of) HR driven. Those numbers aren't likely sustainable.
  16. I mean, how good is Thielen? He might be the best WR in football right now.
  17. That's been their model for as long as they've owned the team. I'm not sure why we'd expect it to change now.
  18. 2 minute drill continues to be an adventure for the Vikings.
  19. Man, I love Cousins as much as anyone in town, but he does not protect that football back there.
  20. Barr looks like he got a fire lit under him after that Rams game.
  21. Fair enough. I'll come back when the season is over.
  22. Big stop by the defense. Gutsy call to go for it this early.
  23. No idea what Cousins is thinking there. Take the sack or throw it out of bounds.
  24. Again, what growth, what progress? And I am criticizing what has happened. I'm not the one trying to look into the future, I'm criticizing them for what has actually happened since Fleck got here. So I'm not sure what your second paragraph actually means.
  25. What growth? That's what I keep asking. I don't see any growth. They've been outscored 190-58 since their last Big10 win. That's growth? It doesn't matter how long I wait. They could lose out and I'd still keep hearing the same excuses. The difference is that I'll come back and eat my due crow if I'm wrong.
